Seth’s betrayal is akin to Adam and Eve being tossed out of paradise, and death becomes an aspect of life. A critical fixture of the story is the Nile river itself. Three times Osiris is forced to travel down the river after the betrayal and murder, first as a corpse in a box, then as parts that wash up on the banks, and finally as a restored corpse that gives Isis the means to create new life in the form of Horace, the eventual victor over Seth. Osiris represents life, Seth is death. In a sense the death of Osiris may be an explanation of the desertification of Egypt. Essentially man being kicked out of the garden of Eden. The Nile is the womb from which life flows, but this only happens after Osiris’ body is flung into the river and some of its parts wash up on the shores thereby imbuing it with life creating and sustaining properties. It is why Horace is born there, it is literally the womb of Egypt, a force Seth could not conquer. Its no accident that when Isis collected the remains of Osiris from the kingdom with the tree that she hid his body along the shore of the Nile. And why Seth scattered his body throughout Egypt not just putting it all in the river. Later, in Jewish tradition, Moses is placed in the river to save him from death, and he is saved by the pharoe's daughter, later still Jesus is baptized with the Holy Spirit in a river and is in a sense reborn. Coincidence? The third time Isis gathered his remains and attempted to re-animate Osiris, it was due to the incomplete form of his corpse that she was unable to reanimate him to rule in life, but she was able to restore him to the point that he was able to become the ruler of the underworld and death. And to use the same corpse to create her son Horace. Thus a promise is born to the people of the Nile, that Osiris will breathe life back into them, after death, in the underworld which is a world of goodness.

Some may recognize this pattern of resurrection 3 days after death from more modern stories whose origins can be traced back to ancient africa nearly 7000 years ago. History is so cool!

Yama was the first mortal to die and he became the God of Death. Yami (his twin sister) wanted to "marry" him but Yama rejected the offer and "chastised" her
In Islam we know this person. Allah told us about him in details and as normal any person with a strange miracle will be worshiped by people after his death and maybe while he is alive. His name is Osire or Uzair and Osiris is coming from Greece as they known to add the litters ( I and S ) after many names just like Adonis and Alexis which are Adon and Alex. The story was told in Quran as follows: Or like him who passed by a town collapsed on its foundations. He said, “How can God revive this after its demise?” Thereupon God caused him to die for a hundred years, and then resurrected him. He said, “For how long have you tarried?” He said, “I have tarried for a day, or part of a day.” He said, “No. You have tarried for a hundred years. Now look at your food and your drink-it has not spoiled-and look at your donkey. We will make you a wonder for mankind. And look at the bones, how We arrange them, and then clothe them with flesh.” So when it became clear to him, he said, “I know that God has power over all things.”. In Islam we believe that Uzair is a prophet and his revival was after a while of prophet Solomon death. He knew everything about the holy book at the time Torah and he was sent to Children of Israel to make sure they follow the correct God orders after they lost their faith. Sorry for the long comment I just wanted to make sure people know the correct story of Osiris as we believe.
Osiris is an Egyptian deity. He is not included in the abrahamic religions. Islam makes no mention of him. Islam is monotheistic. Uzair is the Arabic name of Ezra, who is a prophet in Judaism and Islam. You’re getting Ezra and Osiris mixed up. One is a human scribe and priest, the other is an Egyptian god.

That's a great question, Lionel. You are correct that "Osiris" is the Greek rendering of the god's Egyptian name. In Egyptian, his name is spelled 3sir. The first character is an aleph, which was probably a glottal stop in Egyptian - like the sound we make in the middle of saying "uh oh" by clenching our throat to stop the sound from coming out. Also the "i" is actually a light "y" sound. All of this is because ancient Egyptian writing doesn't have vowels. Our modern convention would be to render 3sir as "asir" and pronounce it ah-seere in English, but that's just so we can say such things aloud. We don't know the exact way it was pronounced in Egyptian.

So, we're referring to what most call Gods. They are actually called Ntr/Neter/Netcher, Ntrw/Neteru/Netcheru, (Plural). They are more like natures of God rather than actual Gods themselves. They are principles. Understand the animals and you understand the principles they are trying to convey. For instance, in the bible it says that God made man in his image. So, with the exception of Ammut, (Possibly some others I'm not aware of) most if not all other Ntrw have human bodies. Thus, the principles, ideas and qualities being conveyed by the Ntrw are similar to what men and women possess. As for the animal heads, understand the animal being used and you should get an idea of some of the more special qualities that each Ntr possess. Take Djehuty aka Thoth, (Greek) for instance. He has a human body with the head of and Ibis bird. The Ibis uses it's long beak to to search the shore or beach sand for food. This leaves markings in the sand which resemble writing. Therefore Djehuty is known as the God of writing. Djehuty is also known as the God of magic, spells and wisdom. When we write words, we spell them and give power and meaning to them such as casting, "Magic Spells." You may have had a language teacher along the way that made this analogy as well. The beak of the Ibis resembles a writing utensil as well as a sort of magic wand. Another quality of the Ibis is having the knowledge and ability to use it's beak with the aid of water, to give itself an enema when it is constipated. This show's that the Ibis has the wisdom to keep itself healthy and clean. As you can see, some of the qualities of the Ibis make it the perfect animal to convey the principles and ides of the meaning of Djehuty or Thoth. With all that being said, I do not believe that we were ever to believe that the images of the Ntrw were to represent beings that ever walked the earth. They are images used to convey principles and ideas about the natures of God in relation to man/woman.
Oh, I'm also a little hurt I don't see one on me here :) ... Khepri ... Then dig into what happens when the rare joining of Khepri-Thoth takes place in any give time-space...

On one hand Osiris is Nimrod first king after the flood Isis is Semiramis. In Babylonian mystery religion he represents doctrine of mystery religion. After confusion of the languages every tribe was speaking another language and they ware unable to understand each other so they departed in 14 directions. Body of Osiers / doctrine of mysteries was no longer unified. Isis symbolic of initials in the cult of mysteries managed to collect stories of original religion for the most part. it is double simbalagy on one hand story of to living people on other story of a broken up religion that was reassembled trough secret societies by original initials.
is it just me that this god has some kind of connection to Jesus aswel ?? or is this the secret to immortality itself because I’m finding it really interesting with this form of death he has and the death of Jesus aswel can it be possible??? or am I overreacting ???
No it's completely possible in theism and as A god in deity form.... Helpful and valuable spiritually..... Theologically, Jesus is going to be seen behind the scenes in any Story of religion, as a student and master of it, as a God Himself, and as a guide and helper or LORD on Earth.
Osiris was later personified as God in christianity as he is father God, lord and ruler of the kingdom of heaven and through his only beforgotten son he takes you to heaven of his father, well thats if you pass the neke hall of judgement where your heart is weight against maat
Osiris comes to Seth's party and he shuffled Osiris into a box then isis found her and she went to find help then Seth found Osiris in a bush where Isis kept him then Seth found him and dismembered Osiris and flung Osiris's body part over Egypt and that's the story. you forgot a lot of information and I'm only in 4'th grade you need more research there is a lot of information still to be discovered.
Set is supposed to represent an unknowable creature, he looks most like an egyptian fish, but there's no actual confirmation of what animal he might be.
Clearly the inspiration of the Jesus story. The part about the sisters not being able to find his phallus is always left out. It is the inspiration of the Washington Monument.
The missing phallus part is not in the older Egyptian texts about Osiris, but was popularized by Plutarch. My experience has been that this part is over emphasized because it catches people’s attention, rather than being left out. I decided to stick to the evidence we have for the original Egyptian story and not include things that come down to us primarily from Classical sources.
Indeed the Egyptian religion never rewarded murder, adultery, lying, stealing, cheating and so forth. It was such a good religion it lasted thousands of years till it was bullied by various neighbors and it's last Pharos installed by foreigners, throw money into the mix and a united society disintegrated. Not saying anything political about today, but it's history.
The real reason is because Ancient (real) Egyptians were black. Every other religion / way of life is accepted and respected, but when it comes to African deities, they call them evil and demonic. Even though, many of the world scholars in ancient times, had to go to Egypt to study. It was a must. Just look in the dictionary, it says Black is associated with Evil and unclean, which we know is a lie. Also look at the statues of St Michael fighting the Devil, he is almost always black.

I appreciated your review of the myth of Osiris, it is very helpful. However, I feel it understates one of the most critical aspects of the belief - the idea of a promised land. Osiris is the ruler of Egypt during the golden age of the gods (before man ascendancy to self rule). During his rule Egypt is a paradise (in a sense a garden of Eden).

I have a black cat named Osiris. My other black cat is named Bast.
Oh, I'm also a little hurt I don't see one on me here :) ... Khepri ... Then dig into what happens when the rare joining of Khepri-Thoth takes place in any give time-space...

I read the "Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead" years ago and it has stayed with me even to this day. The soul goes through as many tests in the after-life as it does during mortal life. Whose heart is lighter than a feather? This is one reason why I think the heart is left in the body and not put into a Conoptic Vessel. The persons ❤ contains the memories, intelligence, virtues, and vices. I would not want to go through the same ritual every night/day.
then I'm inviting you to Islam

this video alone proofs christianity is wrong and Islam is correct
My favorite is Nuith.
My favorite is Seth - Malik 2022

Can someone please tell me how long Osiris died for before being ressurecected by Isis. PLEASE AND THANK YOU
his body was stored with 1 missing piece
Horus! eye of horus is on my fav hat.
is it just me that this god has some kind of connection to Jesus aswel ?? or is this the secret to immortality itself because I’m finding it really interesting with this form of death he has and the death of Jesus aswel can it be possible??? or am I overreacting ???
No it's completely possible in theism and as A god in deity form.... Helpful and valuable spiritually..... Theologically, Jesus is going to be seen behind the scenes in any Story of religion, as a student and master of it, as a God Himself, and as a guide and helper or LORD on Earth.
Osiris!
Osiris was later personified as God in christianity as he is father God, lord and ruler of the kingdom of heaven and through his only beforgotten son he takes you to heaven of his father, well thats if you pass the neke hall of judgement where your heart is weight against maat
And if you tell the Church this info they go mad and say Christianity is not a Pagan religion.
Osiris comes to Seth's party and he shuffled Osiris into a box then isis found her and she went to find help then Seth found Osiris in a bush where Isis kept him then Seth found him and dismembered Osiris and flung Osiris's body part over Egypt and that's the story. you forgot a lot of information and I'm only in 4'th grade you need more research there is a lot of information still to be discovered.
osiris
How does this parallel with the Judeo - Christian narrative?
alright but what on earth is Set supposed to be, an aardvark or something
Set is supposed to represent an unknowable creature, he looks most like an egyptian fish, but there's no actual confirmation of what animal he might be.
Osiris.
Yes...
I decided to stick to the evidence we have for the original Egyptian story and not include things that come down to us primarily from Classical sources.
why do some call this civilization evil?
when they did teach their people to stop beign cannibals and thought them how to crop and harvest to farm..
Also look at the statues of St Michael fighting the Devil, he is almost always black.
csmemarketing interesting
