I always like restaurants that play 1970s and 80s music. It always puts me in a better mood. We go to Mount Airy Casino buffet in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. And they have a live band that always plays 1970s easy listening tunes and it always puts me in a really good mood. Sometimes I think I'm stuck in the 1970s. Lol 🤔👍🏻
Same with me on the classic rock music! I was thinking Black Betty a few seconds before John mentioned it. The food looked delicious, I will have to try it on my next visit to Gatlinburg.

For some reason, I thought the main items would be a bigger portion (the catfish seemed like a small portion) - the sides were big and they looked yummy! I would jump at the cheesy grits and mac and cheese. I love the idea of switching up the cole slaw to have different veggies in it - sounds delicious! Was the chicken boneless? It looked great. I also love that everything came out piping hot. It is kind of a thing lately that a lot of restaurants are not really holding temperatures correctly. What a large and great sounding menu! Thanks for this video!

The hush puppies were definitely sad, but not my fav anyway. I was raised in the south and always called them "fried cornbread". My parents loved them. All the other food looked great so I guess they can't be good at everything. LOL

So you're at the base of Mt. LeConte? My father LOVED climbing that mountain and would spend the night at the top in the lodge. Quite an adventure! (no electricity up there). He always wanted me to attempt the climb (but I needed to pass on that). Lamas carry the food up the mountain. Thanks for reminding me of my father's favorite place in the world (no we don't live in Tennessee)

When I ate at 5 oaks they told me they were about the change the menu bc the heavier items didn't go over well in Gatlinburg. I was expecting the menu to be worse, but it still looked pretty good and so did the food.

We were in Gatlinburg this past week from Ohio and saw you filming outside as we drove by. We ate there 2 times and the creamed corn was the best side that we had. We really enjoy your videos.

Man both of those plates of food look so good and the food is well cooked just the way I like it two of my favorites fried catfish and chicken the theme of that place is really cool you guys are the best at finding these interesting places to try out their food.

We tried Cumberland Jack’s when it first opened. We loved the look of the restaurant but didn’t care for the food. The new menu looks like much better choices. We will have to give Cumberland Jack’s another try on our next visit. Thanks for your review!

The building is beautiful inside. I love the stone work on the fireplace. Jack was a great companion. Crockett's breakfast camp is always so busy. We did not have a video on it. Maybe if we go back in the wintertime, we will be able to do a review on it.😎😎

I always put grape tomatoes in my coleslaw, now I need to add cucumbers too. I know it had to be good. Love me some good cole slaw with plenty of black pepper and diced jalapenos!

Ranch cole slaw dressing is very good. Hidden Valley makes one just for cole slaw.

Our waitress said they had have a lot of management issues and lost a lot of their employees including the cooks. Wish she had told us that before we ordered. But oh well. Hopefully it gets back on track

There used to be a Texas Roadhouse at that spot. It had been empty for quite a while until Crockett's bought the site and remodeled it .
@@pamelabarbee2487 ok, I know exactly where the old Texas Roadhouse was! One of the first places we ate when we started coming to the area about 20 years ago!
Looks like a really cool building and restaurant. For some strange reason all of the sudden I am craving a king-size piece of prime rib medium rare with au jus. Are there any good steakhouses in Gatlinburg? It's always great to see you both. 👍🏻👍🏻❤🇺🇸🙏🏻🌹

The restaurant interior is a feast for the eyes! So beautiful. Someone in the kitchen should have rejected those burned hush puppies before they were presented to John. I was surprised at that. I have never been to Gatlinburg. Is parking scarce and/ or expensive?
There are mostly parking lots and garages that cost $10-20 for a day. A few places to park free on River Road but they go quick. Hotels have their own parking.
The restaurant is beautiful inside. The hush puppies war burn on the outside. There are parking garages around town. We parked behind the restaurant and it was ten dollars for all day.😎😎
Another great review. Questions: does the chicken, potatoes, and catfish have any garlic or onion seasonings in them? I am more of a basic flavorings food person, just some salt and pepper.

As someone that loves fried catfish, good catfish, or any fish really, never needs tartar sauce, or much if any salt in the breading for that matter. Any idea why they changed the menu? Just to mix it up or were they struggling?
