The fact that the military didn’t get him from the sheriff’s office, but allowed him to be locked behind bars is not a good sign for the bully.
Yep....he'll be getting acquainted with the UCMJ over the next couple weeks...what the military will do to him will make the Civil penalties look pale in comparison, and that makes me happy.
I'm a veteran "military police" investigator and held the same rank/grade as this guy (E-6), as well as a former state leo with a degree in criminal justice. This guy was totally out of line. Every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces requires all of it's members (especially Non Commissioned and Commissioned Officers) to conduct themselves with propper decorum on and OFF duty, in or OUT of uniform. He did not. From what I saw of the video, the black guy was not appearing threatening or violent. He didn't appear to be trespassing on anyone's property. And it's beside the point if he lived around there or not. He was on a public "thoroughfare". The Army Staff Sergeant had no business yelling, uttering obscenities, and ordering the guy to leave. He damned sure had no business laying hands on the guy/shoving him. He is NOT a positive reflection on his service, nor the military in general. Unfortunately, there are bullies like him everywhere. Those who have to show their @ss and pump their ego and "manhood". He had at least 6 inches and 20 pounds on the guy. Besides facing civilian charges, he is liable for several charges (Art. 32 et seq punitive, and Art. 15 non judicial punishment) under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, should the Army desire to pursue that. I'm not going to "dox" myself, but will say, with an abundance of pride, that MY former branch would kick him to the curb in a NY second ! At the very least, he'd get a Bad Conduct Discharge. I hope that the Army throws the book at him. I'll be the first to say that the military isn't perfect. But his type is not a reflection of the values and ethos of the modern US Armed Forces. I'm still bothered by the number of people who damn near worshiped "the USMC Gunny" Full Metal Jacket (R. Lee Ermy). And I know more than one Marine who actually try to distance themselves from him and that "appearance". I'm familiar with the Army enlisted promotion process (I disagree with it for several reasons) and I'm taken aback that he made it beyond E-4 Corporal. America is going through some serious racial issues right now. I won't discuss that save to say that this guy wasn't helping...

For the record Sheriff Lott only acted after the video gained national attention. When Law Enforcement originally arrived, the Sgt basically got a Desk Appearance Ticket. Witnesses stated to the officers that the Sgt assaulted the young man but still let him go. Cameras are the only way to expose racist behavior. Black folks have been reporting these type of acts for years.
Sad but true. ONLY reason that any legal action was taken is because not only was it recorded BUT it was made public. Look at the situation in the Windsor PD in Virginia. The police DID NOTHING until the Army LT sued and made the issue public. Same thing with Ahmaud Awbrey...his white superracist killers were given a pass by local police TWICE. Once when they arrived on scene and once again by the police chief. A third time they passed on ANY charges for those killers was when the local prosecutor passed on doing so.
ONLY after the situation was made public and the videos (which the McMichaels themselves posted on a website for KKK, neo nazi, white supremacist types) did anyone do anything remotely resembling justice!
@@victorpradha9946 you are speaking facts. I'm a retired Correction Officer of 25yrs and was falsely arrested for felony assault on a Sgt. No video back then to back up my story. Went to court for 7months until the DA finally dropped the charges. Then I had to fight my Department. The Civilian Complaint Review Board, Civil Suit or Departmental Charges didn't stick against the lying POS, because it was my word against theirs. Now with video its almost evening the playing field.

In State Court, one lone juror refused to convict Slager of 2nd degree homicide. As a result, there was a mistrial. So Slager almost got away with it. The FEDS stepped in and tried him and he plea bargained for 20 years, but was facing up to 60 years.

Read up on this gal: Buffalo, New York, Officer Cariol Horne. She's a black, female officer (or was) who intervened to stop one of her colleagues from beating the $h*t out of a suspect in a domestic disturbance call. The suspect was handcuffed at the time. Instead of disciplining the officer who was beating, like savagely, the handcuffed suspect, the Buffalo PD and Mayor's office fired Horne who was just shy of her 20 years to get her pension. She fought for 15 years and finally a NY court reversed her firing and she got back pay and her full pension. BTW, the beating the handcuffed suspect Cop lost his job in a haze of misconduct investigations years later.

His wife helped mess up his life (thanks to his wife that wanted to share the video on her Facebook. It appears not all of her Facebook family is a fan of her husband actions). The military is also stepping in and to make it worst, he's an officer. Something tells me, he about to lose his rank and that will mean less military pay/benefits. If he's is not removed from the military. The military is very strict regarding non-sense like this and the military doesn't like the news blasting the issue. His lawyer is trying to say he had mental issue...a get out of free jail card.

This was so very wrong! Something similar happened to my brother (and he’s white) in my neighborhood. One of my neighbors took his picture and posted it in the neighborhood Facebook group. Said he seemed “suspicious, didn’t look like he belonged” and they had the nerve to ask him why he was walking in this neighborhood and wanted to know where he was going 😡 I was so pissed off! Nobody has the right to do that.. nobody!

Let's not pretend this type of behavior doesn't get rewarded in the military. This is more about power than race. SFC Pentland is a drill instructor. That's a position of power. He gets to scream and bully individuals all day making them do what he says (within reason). His problem is that he doesn't know how to turn it off once the uniform is removed. The language/racist tone we here is mainly from him not growing up around blacks (Idaho) and not understanding what's offensive. He just another individual that says, "I'm not racist" but doesn't know that he actually is (Very common). The military won't do much to him besides remove him from his drill position and reassign him back to the regular Army. Unless he serves 30 days, then they would demote him. Still if he's got enough time left, he could gain it back. There's an ole saying, "F#ck up and move up" it happens all the time.

Instead of attempting to de-escalate the situation by getting this poor excuse of a man and American soldier back in his cage, she was doing everything in her power to escalate the issue. I would imagine he's been on the "old man's" carpet and he will soon decide the future of his career. Wal-Mart Cart Wrangler! I spent 26 years in the military and the one thing that was constant was the fact you are held to higher standard than others in society regardless of in uniform or civilian clothing you were always a representative of your country and service. Many times I had to walk away from situations I would have liked to engaged, but my integrity and career meant more to me. Not worth it.
I would like to know more about how this started because there are always unknown's that happened prior to the video. As usual there is always more to a story. Regardless this individual should have handled it differently especially for an active military member.
FACT PER THE POLICE OFFICIAL - THERE WAS NO CRIME COMMITTED BY THIS BLACK MAN PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THAT WARRANTED THIS ASSAULT. There was nothing that preceded this incident that would warrant this military man to take matters into his own hands and assault a person walking down the street. You could hear the Black man say, "Call the police" This military trained person or any other civilian can't play judge/jury/prosecutor on their own. IF this BULLY thought this Black man had done something he should have called the police. But to slap this Black man's phone out of his hand (facts from other videos & news channels) and to shove this man was AN ASSAULT plain and simple.

@M S C I am glad in this case both parties made it home safely but the big guy did not have to threaten the life of the little guy and further batter him the big guy was drunk and probably used lethal violence before, you can hear that he knows more than boxing when he says ominously, "Do you want to see what I can do?" had the situation evolved ( I meant devolved) further I believe there could be a scenario where the little guy would be within his rights to use an equalizer against his criminal violent aggressor. But again I am happy they both went home.

Didn’t take long for another one of these to occur in Mount Laurel, NJ. Tragically the community has to get involved before law enforcement will do their jobs.
If the cops did their job that they wouldn't arrested the guy in the video for previously harassing women in that area. Of course when someone in the COMMUNITY deals with it their life is ruined, hypocrisy at its finest.
