I have a 2015 Kia Soul, and I must say, it is a BLAST to drive! I love the look, the interior is bad ass, and the over-all car is just plain great! I can't see myself in anything other than a Soul, and I plan to keep moving up to the newer models as I need. I am hooked!
I have a 2010 Kia Soul and never had any major issues. I also had a 2015 Jeep Renegade and this thing was on the shop for close to 3 months for a simple radiator fan fix. Planning to get a 2018 Kia Soul turbo with all the bells and whistles. The Toyota CHR is also on my list but not too many options and interior quality is a hohum.
I love love love my kia soul exclaim! I've had it for a little over 3 years and evert time I get in it I STILL love it!! If I had it to do over I'd choose my kia soul exclaim again and again and again !! I love it!!
The 2.0 4 cylinder non-turbo is adequate and more reliable. Skip the turbo if you plan to keep your new Soul longer than the warranty. Just more to wear out adding unnecessary expense down the road.
Nice review man. I own the 1st gen Soul and I'm pretty happy with it. I love the new one though and especially the added horse-power and the DCT gearbox. I also appreciate that they throw-in android auto and apple car play on the base media player. It's sadly a 6 month wait and a special order to get the T-GDI 204 hp DCT version here in Greece...
The three things that are missing is AWD, rear vents and paddle shifters but if it had all of those I'd buy it totally especially driving on gravel roads and in the rain here in the desert
Ive sat in the Soul in the showroom and I have to say it's a very nice compact but spacious car. I bought the Forte5 SX instead because at the time there was no turbo version but I would give the Soul top marks for execution. It looks goofy and kind of like a sardine canned style but it's very contained inside the cabin with as Sam said, good materials.
pipsicle I agree, I love my 2010 Soul and will look at a new Soul within the next 12 months... but I can't understand why they are not more popular here in Australia
I think Kia failed to capitalize on the opportunity to make a Juke RS competitor in this Kia performance edition. That is what I saw with the red striping. A bit more aggressive styling would have been better.
Good review. However I’m surprised you gave the chassis 5 star when everyone else is dumping on it for archaic rear suspension/ body roll/no refinement ?
Much depends on the quality of the road you're driving. On the road the reviewer was on, you don't feel much bounce at all. On gravel roads or badly beat-up roads, yes, it can be bouncy. My only reference is the previous 2 cars I've driven: A MINI Clubman S and a VW Turbo Bug. Both were also bouncy on badly beat-up roads. Overall, I'd say yes, this car does tend to transfer vibration from the road more to the cabin...but not in way that frustrates me or becomes obnoxious. It really is a fun car to drive and the speakers sound fantastic which distracts one from these minor issues. I suspect it's the placement of that speaker causing the music to bounce off the windshield that makes the cabin just resonate beautifully when playing music.
That is what it is. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is not a traditional automatic with a torque converter. It is a transmission that is built and operates like a manual with a dry clutch, and is shifted robotically with actuators by the computer. A "robotic manual".
The modes don’t have anything to do w/ the speed... it’s called flex steer & can be switched & set to either normal comfort or sport, but in my experience so far I️ haven’t noticed any difference between modes but maybe I️ will w/ more time behind the wheel considering I️ just bought my 2016 + model 3 days ago!
"Because it's turbocharged it doesn't mean it has dynamic of a Mustang lol you need manual in sports car, not in Kia Soul lol" -- So you think manual is only useful if you have more power than you can handle? You clearly have no understanding what manual is for, no matter how many "lol"s you insert into your post. I seriously doubt you even can drive manual.
mountainhobo been driving manual for 15 years, now bought automat and never would go back to manual again. why would you? I kean is iy really comfy to drive manual thru all that shitty traffic jams?? give me a break. if you want to enjoy a nice fast car at the weekend - yes, go for manual.. but fir daily comute... get a grip bro..
@kagolko -- Do you live in the flatlands, or in the mountains? BTW, manual has nothing to with "nice fast car at the weekend". Speed has zero to do with. The keyword is control. Please do not attempt to patronize me with "get a grip bro".

I've gotten 47 mpg on my Kia soul not one problem 100k miles later

I just wish they would bring on the 4X4 version !!!
x2 x4
Great job on the video review. Very friendly and very informative.
This car is still awesome and super fast
Nice review! All it needs is a moonroof then I'm sold~^^
Kasio 22B Er...it does. I own one.
If you look closely at 2:39, you can see the ghost of Sam Haymart. 😂😂😂😂
an awd model would be more than welcome with its ample power & interior space
Mine has the tech package and huge moonroof

Great review. I have a huge amount of time for the Soul and don't understand why I don't see more of them on the roads here in the UK.
pipsicle they are everywhere here in Montreal. We like practical hatches

Does it come with spare tire?
Looks like Tucson, Arizona. Are you located in Tucson?
Strong possibility KIA will add AWD for 2020. They have already tested a prototype using a 38kw electric motor to power the rear wheels.
They didn't and I'm glad.
corky cars are sometimes the fun ones to drive

Agree...are the other reviewers too picky or this reviewer not picky or astute enough?
Too picky
At 6:07 the presenter kinda looked like BB Heisenberg
I heard that they ride a little bouncy. Is this true?

No
On poorer roads it does bounce around. On interstates the ride is so smooth
There is vents it's under the fronts seats
6:00 Robotic manual transmission? Please, elaborate. Can't be that, when it's DCT.

08 XB here Horsepower is a plus. Don't be a Hamster.
I thought you currently own anf drive a VW Beetle? thought you mentioned that long ago...
He has a few cars, a Beetle and a Scion xB among other things.
how can I have the same career as yours or similar??
Commit yourself to poverty and turn away good paying jobs, then you are ready.
Todd Medium Wellington hahahahhahahahb
Why Kia hasn’t put the 2.0 liter turbo or 2.5 turbo in the Soul is a travesty. I had one with the 1.6t and it was a blast.

you added too many stars in your infotainment section.
Time to fire another graphic artist.
Needs AWD and manual.
Manual in Kia Soul?!? Because it's turbocharged it doesn't mean it has dynamic of a Mustang lol you need manual in sports car, not in Kia Soul lol
If it had offered a manual, it would have been on our "Id Buy It" list.
