Charles, FABULOUS…..a Master of a Master Class. I cannot start any piece of music now without trying to devine the feelings that the composer wanted to convey in each phrase (or for that matter, the feelings that I will try to convey). To an experienced pianist, maybe painting a mental picture of a piece before you start is obvious. For those of us who are less experienced, this type of thinking is transformative.
