What’s your favourite pair of running socks? Have you been inspired to buy a couple of new pairs? Are there any amazing socks that we’ve left out? We want to hear from you in the comments below 👇
Injinji toe socks far and away favourites. Always wear toe socks (of different brands) and can confirm they aren’t any more difficult to put on than a glove once you’re used to them, and they are great for those that would otherwise get blisters on toes
I agree, Injinji toe socks are great as I always used to get blisters from my toes rubbing together on longer runs, especially when running it wet conditions. Not any more! :-)
Injinji and Xoskin toesocks. I never get blisters up to 100 mile trail races. I think the key is keeping toes from rubbing each other and it splays your toes apart
For me, it's definitely the running socks from the company "Falke". RU4/ light for daily training, RU5 for speed training and competition. I slowly have the feeling that I have to send you a care package from Germany with socks from "Falke", running shoes from True Motion (Nevos, and definitely the Solo) and other things that I find. Great video as always, stay healthy and without injury.
I'm evolving into an old man-I wear my grey Injinji beyond running. Original weight on road and trail in all temps. No blisters and my toes don't get squashed together.
Watching a 14 minute video about socks. Yes, I’m definitely a runner! I like the Hilly Twin Skin to prevent blisters and rubbing but like the look of the Zouma’s.
Love the Balega silver socks most comfortable pair of socks I’ve found in the run and they are built very well. I’m currently mainly using stance medium cushion socks because they feel great, come in various lengths, are reasonable value and are lifetime guaranteed and their customer service is great if you ever need to return a pair
when it comes to toe socks, a surprisingly good and cheap option are the Decathlon ones I must say! On a more traditional front, Hilly marathon and Hilly ultramarathon fresh have been my socks of choice for years now
To name just a few: Feetures socks are pretty awesome, they have a very snug, yet comfy fit and stay miraculously dry at any weather condition. The „RU5“ by Falke are super thin, lightweight and breathable with some minimal cushioning, they pair well with light shoes like the Rebel V2 - I love to feel the air at my toes while running. The Asics „Ultra Comfort“ are great every day socks with a good balance between breathability and cushioning. La Sportivas „Fast“ and „Sky“ are very light, yet very robust (and kinda pretty). The thing is: certain socks often work best with certain shoes, so it can be a bit of a rabbit hole... 🐰
I exclusively use some sports socks from Aldi which look very similar to the Inov8 ones you review. I use them for both cycling and running and have never had any feet issues. Well worth a look when they are in stock.
5:35 I do the same thing with clipping my ankles with the opposite foot. A few times I really cut my ankle by doing that. So easy solution, when I run I wear like 2-inch socks.
I'm with Andy here, I have both his top picks both ace for ultra distance in the fells..nice and comfy and I've never had a blister off either... good vid guys... some of my pals use the Drymax range and love them.
Primark do great running ankle socks which contain no cotton, targeted cushioning and arch support, and they are by far the cheapest cotton-free sport socks I've ever seen at around 3 for £5. For above the ankle socks I like Nike dry fit
This video made me realise that running socks was the one part of my running equipment itinerary that has been lacking - I’ve just a pair of Kalenji and generic sports socks. Ordered the Hilly Socklets and Enertor off the back of this video, fingers (or toes?) crossed they make a difference.
For me it’s the Injinji toe socks, maybe a little bit of a faff to get on but zero toe issues, lightweight and comfy and even better if you walk without shoes on as it feels like walking barefoot after a long run
Pretty new to running - still working through my C25K - but I've been using Thorlos Expedia socks (very cushioned) and Steigen socks which are much thinner - they're an Australian brand too which I like. Love the content you guys, it's been super inspirational and informative - keep it coming!
TBH I have looked at many sick brands but since starting running 4 years ago, I have always used basic Kalenji socks from Decathlon and Karrimor padded socks from Sports Direct. They have been amazing, never any blisters and last pretty well for price. Recent changes in Kalenji mean that they don't seem to fit quite as well and I got blisters on the ends of my middle toes at London Marathon though I had also changed shoe brand so maybe the combination wasn't so good (or shoes were a little too small).
Otter waterproof socks are great if you’re a muddy trail runner. I stood in the shower with them on after a long muddy run to clean the mud off, then took them off……dry feet!!!!! Mad, but brilliant. Definitely a mid winter sock though. I’m happy with karrimor ones from sports direct year round. Cheaper and comfy.
Balega for me, have tried socks from Nike and Hilly but much preferred the soft feel of the Balega. They fit well too. I did try Injinji toe socks but even in my size they felt very restrictive between my toes and caused blisters there (not ideal).
LOLed at the sock puppets! Would have been fine if they’d presented the entire video😉 I’m partial to Bombas performance running socks myself-they come in a wide variety of lengths and colors. My favorite are the calf length…just the right amount of cushion and they stay super soft wash after wash, run after run!
Over the calf, long compression socks for me in summer, regular sport socks in winter when I’m running in leggings (Canadian winter running sub 30 temps at the coldest)
After getting blisters I became a fan of twin skin socks, I tried the Hilly and like Andy said found I had to work at keeping wrinkles out. Last couple of years I have found the Karrimor Duo Skin two layer socks to be just right for me.
Great Video. I live in Thailand and the only one they sell from your video here is balega. But i personally run in Compressport, Falke and injinji. Socks are very important for me as Thailand has very very hot and humid weather and blister pop up easily.
Hahaha! Love the opening! I work at a running store so this was really interesting! We carry Balega, Feetures and stance. It was cool seeing the other brands, could you do one where you review Feetures and Stance? Those are my personal favorites, feetures just fit well and stance because they have a wide variety of patterns
I like my Darn Toughs. I'm not a big fan of my Feetures, in part because they feel a little tight for my liking but also because I don't care for the anatomical fit. I often get ready in the dark, so having to figure out which sock for which foot gets annoying.
Socks are very much a personal matter a bit like saddles ! Stance do offer some different thickness and you omitted some of the best makes like Compressport, Odlo or X-Socks which provide some highly technical products
The trick is to find a good sock for each sneaker you own. Some of my sneakers are ok with no shows and some I've found out the hard way aren't and need an ankle sock ✌️
Great tip! And absolutely true... sometimes I find my trail shoes rub my feet differently than my road shoes so I need blister socks for one and not the other. Thanks for sharing 😊
I always use full lenght compression socks; because if I dont I'll get shinsplints like crazy. On the few occasions I do run without compression I never really paid any attention to what sock I was wearing. I have a few Newbody socks; some Pro Touch and I may even have a pair of Puma. And I have also worn regular merinowool socks. I might see if any of those socks sell in Sweden; because full lenght compression socks is a workout in it self just to get on your foot; especially the ones from 2XU that I use. Not what you need if you're just doing a slow 5K.
I really like the grip6 overland not tried them in the flesh but I have something similar in a hiking sock and I have had these for over twenty years and they are still in really good condition.
I swear by On Running or SOAR socks, not cheap but really good. inov8 race elite are excellent for trail runs and I got no blisters on a 75 mile ultra in atrocious weather
@@runningchannel Dennis Nerdy's shirt from Jurassic Park loud. Think they've got a pair for the new Space Jam movie too.

“No show” socks have the disadvantage that if you have bonny ankles debris can easily get in through the gaps formed between the concave surfaces of your ankles and the collar of the socks.
I try not to overthink my sock choice, long runs go with 1000 mile twin skin anklet socks, other runs vary between Nike or ASICS or Adidas, first pair that come to hand from the pile. Got a pair of no show socks Stance feel360 that are marked l &r and they're fine, guy in shop raved about them but they're not running for me or anything lol
I like a lot of these picks, but a BIG brand i like wearing around and they even make running socks is bombas. They have a beehive pattern for ventilation AND every pair you buy, they donate an even better special pair to a homeless shelter.
Stance socks all the way. They have athletic, run light, and run ultra light socks for your easy days all the way to race day. Their socks actually have a left and a right sock because they use multiple materials to help hug your foot better. They may seem a bit pricy but they come with a lifetime guarantee so if you ever get a hole in them, take them in and get a new pair.
I like the runderwear cushioning ones but they don't wear/wash well over time. Mine have totally worn down under the ball of my foot unusually fast. My stance socks in comparison show no wear and tear.
I at some point saw a lot of ads for Rockay socks. Would be interesting to know if they are as good as they say they are. I'm currently just using some cheap pair of compression socks I found in Lidl.
I'm not a long distance runner but I like a pack of generic five finger sucks I bought on Amazon at 14€ for 5 pairs. They last about 150km each and haven't had any blisters or other for issues with them
Thanks so much for watching! Yes socks for running can have features that you don't get with normal / walking socks, including cushioning support. It's worth testing a pair out 😊
Eh, honestly I use the cheapest running socks I can get. JackRabbit (a running store chain in the US) sells big packs of them, and I found a big pack of Adidas ones for cheap. Never let me down. No chafing, blisters, messed up toenails, etc. But note I do use running socks, not, say, baseball socks or general athletic socks.
Interesting review. The Zouma socks sound good - another jumping on the 'save the earth' rhetoric paradigm? The compostability thing of the tab etc points to a real attempt to truly 'do something', have a usp in their small corner... and the tree thing: lucky old Madagascar! The super-dooper slidey technology sock? Yeh, right! Have us ordinary runners got the word MUG tattooed on our foreheads?
I have large feet (UK12.5/Wide), and I've been on a mission to find a pair of running socks that don't make my feet feel like they're in bindings before I even leave the house. I'm hoping for some success from a pair of Falke socks arriving tomorrow, failing that going to try some Bridgedale trail socks. But if anyone has similarly large feet (wide, UK12.5, US13.5, EU47.5), I'd appreciate any brand name tips, as it's awfy expensive to keep buying socks which don't fit.
@@davidpurvis1769 Thanks for the suggestion. It's because I have wide feet that XL socks always feel so tight. But I see now that Rockay also do an XXL version, which is unusual, so I'll give them a try. Thanks again.

I'm using Thorlos socks for long runs. Combined with bodyglide I haven't had any blister issues.
Rockay accelerate socks, fantastic no blister socks and lived up to their lifetime warranty when when developed a small hole!
Craft Core Dry, Injinjis & Steigens for me...
I like Wrightsocks. Been wearing them for years. They are double-layered but without having to line up the insides. Never had a blister with them.
Rockay socks are by far the best i have 👏🏻
Injinji all the way from ultra light road socks to warm woolly trail socks never any blisters and of course allows you to were Vibram Fivefingers too!
Ah now that's a great shout, Nik! Thanks for sharing 😊

Injinji toe socks are my absolute fave, followed by the belega socks for shorter runs 😊

I love my injinji's when on trail!

Injinji and Xoskin toesocks. I never get blisters up to 100 mile trail races. I think the key is keeping toes from rubbing each other and it splays your toes apart

I still need to tape my little toe as there is no running shoe in existence that is wide enough for my toes.
For me, it's definitely the running socks from the company "Falke". RU4/ light for daily training, RU5 for speed training and competition. @@davidpurvis1769 Thanks for the suggestion. It's because I have wide feet that XL socks always feel so tight. But I see now that Rockay also do an XXL version, which is unusual, so I'll give them a try. Thanks again.
FEETURES socks beat my Under Armour socks except in price. No more blisters. I have to wait for special sales.
I get a basic 5 pack of socks for $6 at the local shop. I could never justify spending $5, $10, $20 or more on a pair of socks for running
Rovkay are a great sock
The prices you gave are sometimes for a pair, for two pairs or three pairs...
Give Bombas a try
Hanes for me all day !!!!!!!
Running sock buying is a blumming nightmare, I always end up with different sizes one (L)arge and one (R)egular 😉😂😂😂
Hahahaha! Me too! What are the chances?! 😂😂😂
Hey what about Feetures?
I swear by Balegas. I have never gotten a blister in them. And I was prone to blistering before.
Great to know Michael! Thanks for watching 😊
