    I had to stop letting my hair stay wet for so long because it caused damage. I get the same results from adding the products in the shower while my hair is soaking wet and put a shower cap on my head while I finish washing my body. I don’t turn my hair upside down either. Once I get out, I drape a microfiber towel on my shoulders, take off the cap and let my hair set for about half an hour. Then I diffuse it dry. I’m high porosity and I’ve experienced damage from leaving my hair wet for too long.

    • @simply_me_sg922
      @simply_me_sg922 3 года назад +1

      What type of damage does it cause? Just curious.

    • @greenopto
      @greenopto 3 года назад +10

      @@simply_me_sg922 Hi Lesha! I experienced excessive dryness and over time breakage. My hypothesis is that keeping it wet for so long kept the hair shaft swollen and my cuticles lifted, causing the water to evaporate from inside the hair shaft (as well) while I was waiting for the style to dry. My hair is very noticeably healthier now that I diffuse as opposed to letting it air dry.
      I would never go to sleep with it wet! My body heat would make matters worse.

    • @antoinettechevalier2453
      @antoinettechevalier2453 2 года назад +7

      @@joannagwynn9776 Try a gel where “glycerin” is far down the ingredients list - Cantù gel w flaxseed and olive oil is a good one (I think Wetline is the worst because glycerin is like the second ingredient). I used to have trouble w holding a style, but once I switched away from glycerin-heavy gels, my styles last a full two weeks. Glycerin is a humectant: if your hair is high porosity &/or you live in a humid environment, you will have a bunch of frizz even after just 1-2 days.

      @eaudeKaris 3 года назад +13

      I used to have this problem too. I have kinky textured hair, I don't like saying type 4 but for the sake of understanding, I have type 4 hair. I realized the issue is using alcohol-based gels like wet line and eco.
      I would suggest not using leave-ins and oils and just use a water-based gel that has aloe or marshmallow root on soaking wet hair. Because those who are like 80% water, the gel will cling better to your curls and give you a very nice hold. Following this changed my whole hair care routine, I only use 1 product now. Occasionally I put a curl cream on TOP. I hope this helps you!

      The secret to my wash and go's is making sure my hair is saturated with water and a very good leave-in with slip. My hair is already curly so all I need is a good leave-in and a curl definer, that's all. I use a detangling brush and only use gel for my edges. I don't need to shingle because the curls pop with the water and leave-in.

I apply Jamaican Black castor oil once per week to my scalp. I wear a bonnet and in the mornings I just fluff and go. I've never tried to get it curled but then again I have a thing against gels and I don't use detanglers, I just have leave-in conditioners. I don't know if the conditioner would work as a detangler...🤷🏾‍♀️Water and wind tangles my hair and it's frizzy, mostly rough- or dry-like.
    Are all these products healthy for black or brown women as in hormone disruption or breast cancer causing free? I don't have them in my country but I know some chemicals are unsafe for us black/brown women and they're in our hair, skin, nail care and makeup products so with these information hitting the public in research I think RUclipsrs now have to have either disclaimers or something to alert us that if we have hormonal issues or a history like this in our family, this or that product isn't for us.

      You're right... It's more of a wash and style that will last for about a week.. It does last.

    I dont like wash and go because of the shrinkage on my hair. But I love watching all of your hair videos.

    Did you heard that edge booster has DMDM Hydantoin in it and that ingredient is know to make hair fall out because DMDM Hydantoin is a type of formaldehyde. Egde booster works very well but after hearing about that I stopped using it.

    I tried your shower cap method last year and loved the definition. Definitely worthwhile technique even when you have highly dense, long hair. Going to try this again when the weather warms up a bit.

    Thank you so much for the in depth tutorial video! Often times we are shown the product and process but hardly ever the maintenance. I’ve never truly been successful with wash n go’s, I actually call them wash n no’s 😂 I might give your method a try, thanks again ☺️

    Great results. Love the definition and how long it lasts. I have been using the shower cap tech with wash-n-go since last year and it works very well. I am usually a two-strand
    twist person. I decided last year I wanted to perfect doing a wash-n-go and that tech help greatly.
