    What she said at 12 min mark... is completely false. Killer whale males are not kicked out of their pod at maturity. In fact, male resident killer whales of the North Pacific stay with their mothers for life.

    I knew swimming with them was RED NO (like they allow with dolphins) but at least I thought it was allowed to come closer (up to that yellow line) & take a picture/selfie... honestly this doesn't seem worth the cash as all of this you can see before/during Shamu show

    Can I ask you a question about the trainers? I watch a lot of videos that are uploaded on RUclips of all the Shamu Stadium shows and I love them. I think that the trainers are amazing with the whales. The Orca Encounter Show, at the end of the show you show the last video of the trainers talking before One Big World starts. There are 2 trainers a tall brown haired guy with blue eyes and a small brown haired guy with brown eyes. What is the name of the guy with the blue eyes in the VT and has a blue top on? Then there is a small guy with brown eyes he talks to the audience a lot in the shows. I know there is a trainer called Justin! Do you have 2 trainers called Justin?

    • @SeaWorld_Emma

      so i think the brown haired guy with blue eyes is nick. theres 2 nicks, one has blond hair and the other, the one you were wondering about is the other nick. so definitely nick and justin

      @@SeaWorld_Emma thanks for the update. I know that there are 2 nicks. One of the nicks is blonde and he has been an animal trainer for 25 years, and I think there is another trainer called nick who has brown hair, and has his hair tied back in a small bun. But in the video before One Big World there is a tallish guy with brown hair and he has blue eyes and he is wearing a blue top, it’s like he has been on a run and runs up to the camera and then says “ there’s so much to explore” I don’t know what his name is but I don’t think he’s called Justin, cause the Justin who always talks to the audience in the shows is small with brown hair and brown eyes, he’s called Justin

      unfortunately i think some who Are born in captivity should obviously stay Due to the fact they wouldnt be able to Socialize w Other Free/wild Orcas which could eventually kill them as much as i feel like the ones who were born wild should obviously return to the wild due to their families still there but the born captives wouldnt have any pod to return to in the ocean if that makes sense Plus even tho The Pools are small compared to the oceans Atleast They have somewhere relatively safe to be.

      Depends the only perk really is getting your picture with the orca, other than that it’s pretty much what you saw in the video. Just a more personal orca encounter than the one in the stadium but at a higher cost. It was like $150 it’s the most expensive encounter in the park. If you have the money and want a once in a lifetime experience I’d say do it. Won’t be too long before orcas are no longer part of seaworld.

    • @NenadlPopovic
      @NenadlPopovic Год назад

      @@walkaboutmike oh wow 150??? At San Diego Dolphin encounter is 79, and Orcas are 59!!!
      When I asked why dolphins are more expensive, they told me its bcuz you are allowed to pet & interact with dolphin + its most popular attraction at San Diego... so I booked dolphins and it was worth it

    • @NenadlPopovic
      @NenadlPopovic Год назад +1

      I was thinking the same, but not. You are only allowed that with dolphins & sea lions (although sea lions aren't open all-year)... petting orcas was only allowed during 70s 80s & early 90s when some of them were babies in small pools
      Honestly Orca Encounter isn't worth the cash, as all of this you see with standard park ticket... and for selfie with orca, just go on time to Shamu stadium & take a seat near the main slide out...

    • @HitominekoFantasy
      @HitominekoFantasy Год назад

      They used to let you touch orcas in petting pools in the 80s and they were actually significantly less likely to show aggression than the bottle nose dolphins. The friendliest was actually Truas grandfather, Kotar. But they shut down orca petting pools a long time ago, probably before the 90s.

    • @Charles-_-
      @Charles-_- 2 года назад +6

      They are not even supposed to be there. They have evolved to navigate oceans not tanks. They have not thrived in those pools at all. More calves have died than lived. They have suffered a long miserable existence no doubt. They are all very prone to illness and in over all very poor physical shape compared to wild orcas.

      Any possibility they could revive the breeding program in the states that have not yet outlawed it, assuming there still are states that have not yet prohibited it? That way the current generation of SW orca will not have to be upset over the prospect of it's own gradual extinction (not expecting they will ever end up in any sanctuary ) and robbed of the stimulation and joy that child rearing would naturally bring. As the old adage goes, it will get worse before it gets better. To end captivity permanently because of the imagined evils of it,any final generation will be the most hapless ones of all. A breding ban could bring with it more restrictions on an orcas Already-limited freedom to move move about the bathtub and could further limit their choices of which orcas they are allowed to interact with and the types of social activities that they could engage in with each other, if the park had to enact a policy of male-female segregation to prevent any possibility of a pregnancy, where contraceptive is not 100 percent reliable. I
      will have plenty more to say on this overall topic at a later time

      @@scottestabrooks7276 I’m praying the bring it back. Stripping the female orcas from motherhood is terrible. A new baby to there pod gives them happiness. California it’s banned. Florida and Texas there’s no law, still hope. 20 years from now we will only have a few

      Thank the small, loud, radical group of hippies and vegans that future generations will never get to see an Orca up close like this. These radicals believe the orcas should just be “set free,” and that no zoos whatsoever should exist. Based on the big attendance at the orca shows, most people support being able to have this experience. Maybe write to SeaWorld and let them know that they have your support! I certainly did.
