Mr. Kevy! Thank you for the video! I just discovered the Nacet blade recently-😮incredible blade! I remember you made a video on your favorite blades-was nacet one of them. I want to say it was but I’m not sure. Anyway, would you mind doing another favorite blades video??? I ordered the Apex recently-should be here in a few days. So excited!
Hi Kevy- Great shave and razor review; thank you! The new razor definitely looks like a winner and the audio feedback was very nice. I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Kevy!
I think there's a difference between partially copying a 70 + years old desing and making almost the same copy of a few years/months design, but then again that also depends on the person and how biased/unbiased he is. I personally have nothing against Yaqi and the rest of the Chinese brands and I really like their brushes, because unlike razors, they were never meant to last a very long time and I also don't see how a more expensive brush will make my shave any better. When it comes to razors however, my opinion is quite the opposite. I've used quite a few Chinese made razors and I've never got that "wow" feeling, but more like "ok" or "meh". For me, they are more like untested imitations or at least the ones I've used and I no longer care what they make even if it's a "copy" or if it's made out of titanium or whatever. I also don't judge anyone, so if someone enjoys their products and his main goal is to have something durable at a low price, then I can respect that, even though I'm a polar opposite in that regard
RazoRock, PAA and many others blatantly copy products that are far more recent than 70 years old. Americans just have a long standing “issue” with the chinese
The Merkur copies are still made in China, but yeah, in that regard I partially agree. About the Wolfman however, I've heard that they contacted the owner and had his permission, but I have no documentation to prove that claim. You're probably talking about the Game Changer and the stainless steel Lupo vs Wolfman WR1 and WR2. I've used all 4 of thouse razors and visually, they have very little in common, but shavewise, they are completely different razors. The razors that Yaqi and other Chinese manufacturers have copied are countless and almost nothing of what they've made is unique or original, so I think people are just reaching out and nitpicking, but again that's my opinion and I don't wish to get into a serious debate, because neither me or anyone else is going to change their mind. This is one of thouse countless wet shaving debates such as - vintage vs modern, open comb vs solid bar vs slant, inexpensive vs expensive razors, adjustable vs non adjustable etc.
Cheers from Spain, Kevy. It was nice to see you using the new Yaqi Caramel. Most of my shaving tools are from Yaqi, as it's the best option in terms of quality-price if you buy there products on sale, which is now very difficult as they stop their fans discounts in March. Good thing I get enough stuff before that happened 😅 That design got my attention, specially with the synthetic hair, and even though 20€ is a good price for that brush, it kind of feels expensive after buying there synthetic brushes for 8€ and badger ones for 14€. Maybe in the future, will see. Thanks a lot for your passion and dedication, for your good sense of humor and your transparency 😊
The Hendrix soap produced such a yogurty, emollient-rich lather! It should not be surprising since the primary ingredients are several butters. The Aylsworth performed a it should. Bombastic feedback, even with a mild blade! I'm sure a Drakant version will become available. Please try to stay warm, dear friend. My well wishes to your missus as well.
Evening Kevy from a chilly central belt some really nice shaving gear on show a like a fruity fragrant soap also does the trick normally.have a good week ahead and take care all the best to you 🙂
Regarding Chris of IAMCDB, I actually asked that question the other day in one of the shave forums and Kim Gray said he’s doing fine. Just spending time with family etc. No word on why he hasn’t made a video lately other than he’d rather spend time in other things. I know he got tired of the shaver squabbles and trash talking.
Im glad to hear that he's taking things easy and enjoying spending time with family. He did have some troubles with comments, etc, but he always dealt with it. Thank you for letting is know. Cheers. Kevy 😃
Great shave Kevy, see what you mean about the yaqi brush but then again the apex razor head looks similar to a Henson. Have watched the edit of your video and you were pretty short and to the point Ha , nice one kevy looking forward to the next video
Hey Kevy que tal brother?) I must admit that the performance of this Apex safety razor is very balanced because on the one hand it is efficient (you can clearly hear the feedback) and at the same time it is soft, it will surely be in the favorites of many !!! Saludos!!
Great shave!! ^^ Just for info, Yaqi name is not "YaKee" but "Ya Chi". "Qi" is pinyin (Chinese Mandarin romatization) of "Chi". I hope it helps :D Love your content !
Great shave. The razor looks like the one I would love to give a shot in the future. They also have a cheaper razor called the Kopparkant, which is only $100, not a bad price. I’d love to hear what people have thought of it after using it. Have a good one!
Hi Kevy hope all is well, just a quick question, do you purchase your own restrictors for the likes of the witch hazel? If so where? Or reuse from medicine bottles, keep the good work up love the videos!
I can appreciate the argument for copying but Yaqi are certainly not the only ones doing it. There are plenty of sellers in the industry who are copying from each other. Competition is great for the consumer. That handle is absolutely beautiful and a ridiculous bargain. I can get that delivered to my door for $20. The handle alone is worth more than that. Similar quality bare handles are more than double that cost. I'd order that brush just for the handle and re-knot it.
Hello, I saw latherhogs video that said that the razor was extremely efficient for being kind of mild do you agree or think that the efficiency is on par with other razors that have similar blade feel? Lovely video!
I have some thoughts on the channel on the top cap, it was the same on the Drakkant and in my opinion it’s to rest on your finger when loading the blade, that’s how I used it and it worked.
Rex Supply Co has it figured out. I wish these razor companies would date their razors. My kids are going to find my razors and not have a clue on any of the modern versions.
Nice shave Kevy, I was looking at that brush, very nice. What did you think of the synthetic knot? Was it improved at all on their normal offerings? Torn between the badger and synthetic version
Do you ever wonder how much soap you scoop for a shave? That which you scooped using your finger nail looks stiff enough that you can roll it into a ball and use a measuring spoon to estimate how much volume is that bit.
Nice shave Kevy. How does this compare to drakkant +? If this is a 1 or 2 on bladefeel as you mentioned what is a de89 and r5 plate? “Short video people”. LOL
Great shave Kevy! A beautiful razor. How smooth is the Apex? Kevy, can you become President of the United States, so you can reduce inflation? If you become President and you reduce inflation, I can buy more razors!!!!! Your better looking half, Mrs. Kevy will make a beautiful, beautiful First Lady!!!! A beautiful Scottish First Lady!!!!! Best wishes to you, Mrs. Kevy and Riley.
I'll check my funds. If there's enough for my campaign, I'll run. Just had a thought...maybe if I sell some of my shave gear i can raise enough funding cash! 😂
It's a beautiful razor. I was impressed when you said it does not have much blade feel because based on the gap and exposure you'd think it would. What would you compare the blade feel to ? a GameChanger .84P ? Hope you have a wonderful week end!
Great Vid, so far no snow staying on the ground in Southern Canada but flurries a bunch.
Showing support by watching the short and long version. You're a funny fella.
Thank you. Much appreciated 😃

The Nacet was and still is my favourite blade. Kevy 😀
Thanks for the thorough review Kevy! Really glad you enjoyed your first shave with it and wishing you many long years of happy ownership 🙏
Thanks 😁
@aylsworthshave8717 I just ordered an Apex from you-looking forward to the shave! Sounds exciting based on the specs and reviews!
Nice video greetings from Greece 👋

It makes me laugh when people whine about Yaqi copying stuff but say nothing about Rex, RazoRock, PAA and countless others who do the same

@@Foxtrot-jr5qubut with Razorock he is right. Copying Wolfman, Merkur and other razors. Nobody complained about it... 🤷

Excellent shave friend, that Apex razor looks great, with what level of blade smoothness of the Rockwell 6c would you compare it?
It feels around a plate 4 on the 6C. Kevy 😀
top video Kevy !! have a nice weekend😃
Great shave!! ^^

Long , short no matter I love both!
Hi Kevy hope all is well, just a quick question, do you purchase your own restrictors for the likes of the witch hazel? If so where? Or reuse from medicine bottles, keep the good work up love the videos!
I keep them from any bottles that have them. Vinegar bottles, chilli sauce, cough medicine are some that I've reused. Cheers. Kevy 😃
CITRUS CANYON 😂 great vid Kevy I was keen for info on this razor
Hey Kevy, Can you do a followup shave with a Nacet?
I can appreciate the argument for copying but Yaqi are certainly not the only ones doing it. There are plenty of sellers in the industry who are copying from each other. Competition is great for the consumer. That handle is absolutely beautiful and a ridiculous bargain. I can get that delivered to my door for $20. The handle alone is worth more than that. Love a Yaqi brush 👌 citrus bomb sounds nice 😍 I'm about 3 vids behind, still catching up haha. Hope you're well mate.
Doing ok thanks 😃
Great shave Kevy 👌. I like your jokes so keep them coming! The world needs some more humor. 😂😂🙃😎
Thanks! Will do! 😃
I have some thoughts on the channel on the top cap, it was the same on the Drakkant and in my opinion it’s to rest on your finger when loading the blade, that’s how I used it and it worked.
That explanation works for me. Cheers. Kevy 😀
It feels like a new knot from Yaqi. Has a bit more firmness in the fibres, but still nice and soft feeling on the face. Kevy 😃
Would this razor make your top 5 ?
It might just make it in! To be fair, I've not used it nearly enough just yet, but it does give a nice smooth shave. Kevy 😀
Do you ever wonder how much soap you scoop for a shave? That which you scooped using your finger nail looks stiff enough that you can roll it into a ball and use a measuring spoon to estimate how much volume is that bit.
I just scoop out a bit. I've never measured it. It's not like I'm running low on soaps 😂 Cheers. Kevy 😃
Hi Kevy, would you swap your 6S with the new Apex???
No. 😃
Nice shave Kevy. How does this compare to drakkant +? If this is a 1 or 2 on bladefeel as you mentioned what is a de89 and r5 plate?
“Short video people”. LOL
I've not tried the Drakkant. For me, DE89 is a 1or 2, R5 plate is a 3 for me. Kevy 😀
Those blades are made by Personna, but do they still make them? Where do you get them? Interested to try this razor, I love my Drakkant.
I got them from Razor Blades club. The link is in the description of the video. Kevy 🙂
Is this the razor to dethrone the 6S?
Nope!!

To me, its even less blade feel than the Gamechanger. 84. Kevy 😃
It sounds like great razor, I might pick one up. It's always a great time watching your videos Kevy. Hope you have a wonderful day, take care.
