MVC3 Dark Phoenix owns the whole team

- She owns even with that super low health. I was trying to do someone i did earlier where i teleport constantly over the opponent while having the heal super and i can never get it anymore.

wow. i love the voice for dark phoenix, especially when she laughs after doing that healing field thing. i need to get this game.
If you use X-Factor with Dark Phoenix, it's quite intense. Increases the GG level significantly.

@spyrousseraphim It's about Balance.. Phoenix is immensely powerful, so she has to do a ton of damage. But for balancing issues, she must then be a push over in the defense department. This is also not far-removed from the comics, because although she has immense power, even Dark Phoenix doesn't seem to be very "tough".

It only gives you a full super meter if you land the Meteor version (down special), so if a phoenix is on your team, you can counter down at all costs if you want to. (although being hit upwards is just as dangerous, since it's what does the most damage)
If you really are afraid of Dark Pheonix, use Snapbacks and KO ASAP. That way they can't save her last. It's more than worth the meter, since Lv3 X factor Dark Pheonix is a team wrecker.
@Kuribohchaos8 I know storm is definitely like that after three lightning spheres in the air she comes down and there is very little that can be done you can't even block! I'm a storm fan for life so i've used her long enough to notice that flaw my only resort is as soon as she hits the ground hit low for an offensive defense so if Phoenix is the same way I'm not surprised...
@kevinlemus95 Using L attacks causes you to start moving away from the opponent, so stick to mostly M and H, followed by Team Aerial Combos by using a directional input + S. Rinse and repeat and you can get some pretty good damage without even knowing how to use a character's specials.

honestly from really extensively using her, i find her more powerful on the ground than in the air. the methods of starting some huge damaging combos are insane closer to the ground compared to her air game (which would only consist of her downward beak attack)
i think it would be smarter to nerf her one special in air restriction with a small loophole in which you must air dash after to get another special in, and then nothing after
other than that nerf x factor all together!
@jayrock291 I agree. I'd much have the telekinetic/telepathic Jean Grey in this game over the fire flinging phoenix any day.
@howlbigbadwolf Bloody roar primal fury, tekken 1-5 (tekken 6 is somewhat broken), the soul calibur genre is usually fair once you know how to properly defend and fun too. King of fighters genre, guilty gear, blazeblue, pretty much anything not made by capcom.
Phoenix has a total glass jaw.
@timmni That and when you are fighting against phoenix and they sourspot their super like on the last couple secs with hulk. Block like he did but use x-factor and you will ignore the res tof the damage, then you can quickly imput you super gamma-wave super in this case and buh-by annoying phoenix.
The one who played as phoenix is very skilled,
but if you let Phoenix transform,this means your tactical plan has failed...

I don't think it's that Dark Phoenix players don't know this. It's that those who don't succeed with her get her killed before they can even build back up one level of meter...or they expend so much life doing it that the healing doesn't have benefits. One confirm, one combo and she's dead.

Assist in the air, Assist off screen and Air crossover combo, being a rock paper scizzors thing. Whoever invented that needs to get fired
@londonbon nah, i cant say that, because MVC2 was broken but it knda took still to do the broken things. Like infinites and assist resets. In this game you press 4 buttons at the same time and you kill each character in 1 combo. And Dark Phoenix if you x-factor with her, a baby can mash buttons and win literally.
I love that Dormammu just jumps in and blocks all the time, and this is "regular hard" you say. WTF?
@KingofKingz958 Well Street fighter got enough demand and hype to do that. As for this game, theres no excuse, this game or its ultimate version couldv'e have:
1v1
2v2
crossfever (where each player pick 1 character on the team and fights)
survival
mission mode with actual missions (the last mission being dark phoenix in infinite lv3 x-factor with 5,000,000 health, just for the challenge)
oh what happend to that diverse story they promised? I thought i was gonna see some cutscenes
Instead of spending your meter for healing field, just attack. There was a reason why X-factor level 3 Phoenix is preferred.

(assuming the opposing team stays with 3 characters)
as long as each team is equal in terms of live characters, it stays at lv 1 x factor. 3v3, 2v2, 1v1
if the player is lacking one character, that player gets lv 2, the other guy stays at lv1
if the player lacks two, then that guy gets a lv 3. the other guy stays at lv1
if its 3 v 1, and the losing team kills a character (and hasnt used x factor yet hypothetically) then instead of lv 3, it will turn into lv 2. etc.
Phoenix should be the ONLY character that has her life continuously draining, and CAN NOT recover by using healing field or rage mode. Then she would be fair to play with.
@Kuribohchaos8 Thats also because she loses health over time, it probably looks like its more but its more including the gradual loss.

@Kuribohchaos8 She'll be underplayed, and harder to play, but not trash. People abuse her fireballs in the air, especially as Dark Phoenix, so what's the problem with just staying mostly on the ground? She'll still be a good character, just not as prone to spam and forced to think more logically.
@gildrop i agree with that, BUT you dont wanna do an mvc2 treatment and overfill your game with xmen characters and street fighter characters.
For the capcom side I wouldv'e picked a main character from each DIFFERENT game
For Marvel, it shouldv'e been easy, you got the main few, like ironman spiderman C.america, then you got a whole entire universe to choose from, i like x-men characters especially magneto but you gotta look further than just that

Pheonix has -420,00hp
Dark Pheonix has half of that -so about 210,000
Thats why a proton cannon wont kill pheonix but would kill dark pheonix
@KingofKingz958 screw megaman, hes been in tons of games. I wanna see carnage, firestorm, banchee, chamber, and all those good xmen people who always get ignored but would be awesome in this type of game
@Fullmetal392 She's really not that bad. She was a pain when the game first released, but now whenever most people see Phoenix on a team, they just snap her in and kill her before she can get five meters, and right there you got a 3v2 advantage.
Whoevers idea it was to implement the Dark Phoenix character should be fired. Even with low health shes way OP.
sometimes i pick her just for the aesthetics of her character and moves, they look amazing lol.
@Kuribohchaos8 Yeah pretty much. But an x-factored team with at least 3 or 4 hyper gauges could finish dark phoenix.

Yeah, I agree D.Phoenix needs to be nerfed, but not to the point of being unusable.

Yeah, but if you look at the top players in the world, particularly Justin Wong, very few of them use Phoenix.

@Trune1984 it was on regular hard not very hard, but yea i agree, against real players it would be a different game. But she still has the potential to win

@MentalGinger Some of you might want to check out that manual or read more about the game. I can't switch in YOUR Phoenix with doing a quarter circle and pressing Assist button. Your phoenix will be dead before you ever get to 5 bars.
@FearSRK notice how i said phoenix as opposed to dark phoenix? contrary to the possible argument of, phoenix has the ability to resurrect as dark phoenix, thats only if you have 5 bars. players who use phoenix in higher level play get snapped in or are forced to use phoenix without 5 meters and know that a glass cannon is always a glass cannon, no matter where she is on your team. yes, she is dangerous, but sentinel is a way more stable character. i use both anyways so i dont really give a shit

Not sure why that guy didn't bother to ever random hyper. It's not like Dark Phoenix players want to block, ever.
lol this is the best to do online cause i dont think people are used to dark pheonix, specially when they think they've won when your other two characters are low then all of a sudden DarkPheonix + X Factor = no life decrease, then uber ownage of the entire team in the next 30 secs.

well 1 issue with this vid is that whoever was on the other team just failed to attack. so thats why maybe phoenix won. maybe if dormammu attacked when he lifted her it wouldf have been over and we wouldnt be commenting on this video 1 min and 16 sec later....
Whether the game is balanced or not, I will not argue. But I've killed dozens of Dark Phoenixes. That guy had Hulk, Dormammu, and Iron Man, each of which, could easily SLAUGHTER Phoenix. Either he was losing on purpose or was just horrible at this game. And that Dark Phoenix performance wasn't amazing.

it's probably because she consistently takes damage once in dark phoenix form. i dont think she could possibly have half of that hp. hell hulk could insta killer her if she had half of her hp.
@Kuribohchaos8 also all the characters have lower health and since she was pretty much able to be killed in 1 combo in the original she will probably die in 3 hits on ultimate.lol

IMO they should have kept the current x factor numbers, but instead, make the xfactor levels relevant not only to how many members left on your team, but ALSO on the enemy team. i think its fair to say when theres one character left on both sides, a lv 1 x factor would be appropriate right?
Damn it. Dark Phoenix is way too powerful.
Only fighter I've played that's worthy of an actual tournament is super smash melee

Guys if you kill Phoenix with Tron's drill assist she won't go Dark Phoenix even with 5 bars.
@kevinlemus95 Try starting them with M instead of L, after you push up to follow them, input M-H-S just to learn the basics, it works with most characters

@ThePaulvera same here, we all got cheated out our money on this game. i payed $70 for the collectors edition to find out that the comic aint even start anything or had anyone fight.
The most important rip off of the game is the fact that it wasn't finished and we got pay $40 to get the finished copy.

Theres alot of non-broken fighting games out there but they dont get the rep that they deserve. Also the Latest Blazblue patch stopped the game from being broken (minus Tager cause hes forever broken) but now the game is one-sided. All you have to do is rush down and if you dont got a priority escape move like (Shoryuken) you lost.

so say its 2v2 and one char dies on one team, its 2v1, the 1 character will get a lv 2 x factor tops from there on.

@Ryogen LOL you need 5 levels to be Dark Pheonix, it would be the same if she was the last person so i just made it so i didn't have to wait for the team to die and i never used the rest of the team so you could call them already dead

I really dont mind Dark Phoenix being on this game.... IDK she could drain HP.....that pretty much makes her an ownage character. the only folks who actually hate her are people who are sour losers who get beat by this character all the time.
@austbalitos i do, but then there comes a time where people press one button the whole time and depending on your team, if you dont got a certain character you cant do nothing about it
However, looking back at MVC2, Akuma had low health but he wasn't godly powerful, Juggernaut was super strong but he didn't have low defence. Sentinel was too good for his character.
So CAPCOM purposely broke this game

agh i swear its annoying when i am about to win and then 'Dark Phoenix crap' happens. Now everytime i fight a phoenix i spam 'snap back' bring out phoenix and beat the crap outta her before she reaches 5 meters :S
