Never played a second of any incarnation of PSO, but I was very happy to see that it returned. Dark Force was defeated time and again. No way Chaz and co brought down its master on their first try.

I saw that! It's gonna be a complicated one tbh, to add vocal on i mean, there's like 3 musics in one, OOze, idola Strange Fruits and The Whole New World Code SINEN. Now, they already did a vocal version of TWNW (for EP6 ending), so they could just slap the same on this. IMO, Strange fruits can be translated with vocals, but Ooze, man i got no idea how they'll make that one work lol, depends if they decide to make it just follow along the main rhythm or not, but former option wouldn't bring a lot to the initial music, we'll see
Really liked how the the vocal version turned out in the sympathy event and the fact mitsuyoshi singed it made it better imo. Surprised they went with it. Hope it gets uploaded eventually
I love that it's a remix of "Abyss" - the first half of the Profound Darkness fight from Phantasy Star 4. Then about a minute and a half in, it ramps up and launches straight into "Ooze."
It does kinda confirm in a way the theory everyone had back in that game at the least that the final boss was a rendition of the profound darkness I suppose, right?
Interesting reinterpretation of Phantasy Star's Biggest Bad. In PSIV, Profound Darkness started out as a blob of purple flesh, red eyes and pointy teeth, then turned into...I don't know what to call it...before finally turning pseudo-humanoid with spider legs for shoulder pads, staying pretty creepy throughout. In PSO2, they just keep it straight up incomprehensible, yet oddly beautiful until its final form, where it takes on a dark angel shape.
Spoilers. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . That is not Profound Darkness's final form. You'll see it once you get to EP6 where it legit plays that initial description straight I think the reason for it is because you're technically fighting PD through another vessel, Persona
Second form was basically the same thing, but with armor plating. If you think about it the Profound Darkness was all three Dark Forces put together in one fight. First time you fight Dark Force, it is just flesh mounted onto the satellite. Second time you fight Dark Force, it is a similar shape, but covered in armor. Third time you fight Dark Force, it had taken on a humanoid form.
