I got it installed a week ago and the only thing I can say is, in real it sounds soooooo much better than all the videos I watched about it, it sound incredible and way more louder than stock, not just "more tone" it gurgles and got it to pop/crackle sometimes. I don't even listen to music anymore as it is music to my hears.

For anyone who's wondering, Bill really nailed the description of how it sounds. It's much better than factory when you get on it, but very mild when just cruising. I absolutely love it!

For me, this is my favorite exhaust for the Focus ST. While I do not have it installed on mine, I do have the CNT Performance exhaust and am quite happy with it (especially considering the price).
I’ve had this exhaust on my 2017 ST for about 8 months. I’m very happy with it so far. It sounds fantastic IMO. It’s not too loud, should have come with it from the factory.
they can’t have this from factory due to emissions and other inspections unfortunately. they have to meet the requirements

@@THEBLOODYBALLOON Past the cat, you're not scrubbing any more emissions. Any car that is/was sold in CA new can have any cat back so long as it also does not exceed Db levels.

This is the best all around exhaust for the Focus ST
I still like the sound of the MBRP the best but it really is personal preference.

I have had this Ford Performance exhaust on my 2018 Focus ST for 4 months now. I tried a Cobb 3 inch system for 3 weeks and it was just too much drone at every speed except for idle. Cobb was great and gave me my money back.........

Watching this video makes me miss my ST. Had mine straight piped, awesome with pops and backfires it was but very droney. This exhaust is perfect not loud just a deep tone which is always appreciated in my book. It may be legal but I’m pretty sure people will get pulled over it California
Yeah would say so has a hit of a rasp in it. Would be great if this could be bi modal in some way so could be switched with a electric valve etc
They couldn't do anything about it though; maybe use it as an excuse to harass you into searching your car. Legally, however, any citation they tried to write would get tossed.
Cali living here, pretty sure the mbrp exhaust is slightly louder, never had issues with law enforcement over exhaust. Still Have stock DP tho

Gotta say I'm not liking the Flowmaster I just purchased from CJ's and installed on my 2016 yesterday. It's nice under 2300 rpm, but put your foot in it and it's shockingly loud due to the resonator is forward, just under your left elbo. I'm mean it's loud like I need ear plugs. Round trip from the gas station where I fill up, and I'm taking it off and now looking at putting Ford performance exhaust on it or something that's similiar to the stock, but deeper and just a bit louder at the back. Thudermaster with my foot in it isn't just loud, it also resonates causing vibration. Live and learn I guess.
Are we not going to talk about the shoe prints on the muffler at 5:15 ?
With the new exhaust law for California, I feel like there should now be decibel readings for each exhaust

Great review. I have one of these and ended up putting a larger borla resonator in place of the small hot dog it has as 95 dB is too loud for local laws and I have a downpipe. Any suggestions to keep the tone of this and lower about 5db would you just weld a very small like 3 inch long resonator piece in the path?

Why do the ecoboost 4 cyl sound better than the V6. Have not found a single good exhaust for the fusion which has the same engine or the v6 SHO.
Is there a difference between the Borla and the Ford Performance besides the price? Paying the extra $50 for the FP stamp?
The mufflers are supposed to be different but they do sound pretty similar.

Does ford performance sell JUST the pipe coming off the Downpipe with the resonator on it? I want to convert my Borla to an Ford Performance exhaust so its just a tad quieter. I live in CA and although I tested my car with a sound ap and at REDLINE it maxes out at 87db. The tickets are subjective, if the cop THINKS you are too loud, its a thousand dollar fine and state Ref visit. They arent allowed to sound test you on the road because of noise polluting the test from the other cars.
5dmc1 I have a borla too and I’ve been looking for the just the resonator part for a while now. Borla is just a tiiiny bit too loud for me and I feel like adding the resonator would be perfect 👌🏼

Late comment, but just out of curiosity, does anybody know if the flange at the front of the exhaust matches up to that of a Focus SE? As far as placement and flange size? Looking to put at ST exhaust on my SE just for better looks and sound, but go as far forward as possible. If I have to use pipe adapters, that’s fine but if I can just bolt up something like this that would be awesome.

I love my MBRP exhaust
The MBRP is much louder so it is really not an apples to apples comparison. That said the MBRP has always been one of my favorites.

You could probably re-install and weld the cut pipe if you really wanted to re-use it.
Anyone recommend Cobb vs Ford Performance Cat-Back exhaust for Focus ST? Which one is quieter and has less drone? 90db limit where I live. Debating out of these two!
I have the Ford performance catback exhaust it’s really livable, hardly has any drone, and if you put some music on like at 10 it won’t interfere with your music.

No, not if installed by an ASE certified technician or Ford Dealer.
It will carry the warranty of 3/36 for the exhaust, but going from date of purchase of the ST, not the date of install of the exhaust.
The warranty is not for your car, it's for the parts. The cat-back will not affect systems upstream of it, so it will not void any parts. Other than the exhaust that you are replacing!
