The lyrics were written by Polly Samson, David Gilmour's wife. From the album "The Division Bell" she also wrote "A great day for Freedom", "Keep Talking", "Poles Apart", "What do you want from me", "Take it back" or the extremely brilliant text of " High Hopes". For me, the two of them are an outstanding couple in the entire music scene.Excuse my bad english, i am a bloody german.
Your English is certainly a lot better than my German. Yes you are right, Polly co-wrote several songs with David, a very talented couple. My favourite is the very powerful song “In any Tongue” David performed it on his Live in Pompeii show.
A great track to react to, and to think some people say David Gilmour can’t write a song. Just as a bit of useless information, the sound of the door slamming at the start, David actually recorded slamming his own front door on his house in Maida Vale, which he later sold and gave the proceeds to a homeless charity. So not only is he a musical genius but also a bloody nice chap 😀
what i love about Pink Floyd is when they use a swear word its because it works for the song and this song is a good example of use the F bomb for no other word will work and it fits ...Same with Bullshit in Money its used because it works .....Unlike other bands that use the profanity cuz they think its cool or hip..Even when in Not Now John from Final cut the F bomb is drop many times over but it is necessary for the song.... Its a audio paint brush stroke that hits hard and makes its point ..Like Floyds music it a audio painting for the mind
You are so right, the older we get the more the lyrics and the music means to us. It takes on a totally new level of consciousness, the music is timeless. Polly and David are the core of the music of Pink Floyd with me, together with Roger and the band is sublime.
Been waiting to see someone react to this one. I'm more of a 'Roger Waters'-era fan but I really love this album. It was a fantastic way to say farewell. Thanks!
Pink Floyd is a favorite of mine also , thanks for the reaction. The words take on an almost Dylan vibe. Such a pretty smile you have Cassie. Talk later Gary from Tennessee
Thank you. My first time listening to this song. I think it applies to a 100 million friendships gone sour, and then a cry goes out for reconciliation and restoration. Will the listener take heart and come back? Beautiful music also, so intricately woven - a Pink Floyd signature trait. I am happy too for your generation with a person like you who discerns timeless quality in music.
What a beautifully written and performed track by the masters of progressive rock like you said the lyrics hit home more when your older and more worldly wise pink floyd have the talent and ability to make people think and be emotional about what they have heard I'm 72 and I think they are wonderful musical orators the messages are clear it's whether we act on them for the common good great reaction young lady you are mature beyond your years loved it keep grooving
Polly Samson is definitely not at a loss for words. I never met her and I like her! She and her famous hubby David Gilmour are a great musical team! I think she wrote that about Gilmour's turbulent professional relationship with Pink Floyd founding member and former frontman Roger Waters. Samson recently tweeted a big diss Waters' way. Gilmour re-tweeted and added "Every word demonstrably true". Definitely no love lost between the Gilmour and Waters camps. I would check out Gilmour's solo stuff from the 70s and 80s, and his music of this century. He has live performances posted on RUclips of "On An Island" and "The Blue", both songs with special guests the late David Crosby and Graham Nash.
My favorite band and my favorite person all in one. This era of Floyd is often overlooked(post Waters) though I enjoy it greatly.. This is Gilmour's response to Waters. It may be the greatest slap songs of all time. Floyd changes at different points in your life. The open door was him trying to make peace with Roger Waters and the response he got. They did make peace later(see the 20 minute live 8 performance) -YourBiggestFan
I get the same feeling every time I listen and find new parts of a song that I never realized before. Dark Side is my favorite Pink Flyoid album it has like 6 of my alltime favorite Pink Flyod. But Lost for Words is definitely my favorite from Divison Bell
Don't you know that David Gilmore is from another Planet or from the Dark Side of the Moon 🌝🌚.🎸🎶🎸🎧 It's like you said he takes you to a different place.
It’s great to see you truly moved by the song and rightly so as this is surely another beautiful one from Pink Floyd. I always enjoy watching your Pink Floyd reaction videos and I just hope you’ll do another one very soon! ✨💫
I also love the extended version of Terminal Frost. I hope to hear it at my funeral. Well, probably not, ..but maybe. DAMN! Been since the cows came home that I've heard Lost for Words. Bless You, young lady.
Lovely reaction ❤️ Please check out Marillion, you'll love it too!! You will not be disappointed... Try the song Afraid of Sunlight or Neverland (live '09)
New to the channel and enjoy the reactions. Please do yourself a favour and listen to the song Marooned by Pink Floyd. It's the only song they won a Grammy for and it's amazing. Keep the content coming.....
"Now that I'm older". Try 73. Now that's older. I'm not completely sure why, but this Michigan resident loves to hear a British lady, old or young, pronounce the word "body".
This song seem to tell me"it doesn't really matter, when you fall down don't care about, stand up again and against all troubles...sooner or later you'll get your goal.
Hi, can you please react to the song "Romax - Батько Наш Бандера". This is a Ukrainian song, and given the Russian invasion, it would be a kind of support for the Ukrainian people in the fight against the dictator Putin. Thanks))
Pink Floyd is a favorite of mine also , thanks for the reaction. The words take on an almost Dylan vibe. Such a pretty smile you have Cassie. Talk later Gary from Tennessee
One of my favorite albums of all time.
This may be a bit controversial, but this is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs from my favorite album... The Division Bell

Credit also goes to Polly Samson who wrote the beautifyl lyrics. Yes it is like poetry weaving its magic between the music notes.
Yes truly wonderful reaction
That was me the very first time I listened to this song and every time actually
love your reaction to this song, Pink Floyd are the best, seen them live too, amazing......

It's awesome watching people have to re-evaluate their life after experiencing a Pink Floyd song, lol great reaction!
It speaks to us all, because all of us have opened our door to our enemies at some point in our lives, only to get that response.
Great Track.
Love it.

The Pros and cons of hitchhiking, by Roger Waters, with Eric Clapton on lead,.... Great Album, Shine on Sweetie and Greetings from Scotland ✌️👍🌹🦌
Welsh, Bristol, geordie, and brummy girls have the sexiest accents 😍
My favorite from this album. It gets the least amount of laud, probably due to the profanity, but I give it most due to it's honesty.
LOVE YOU :)
THX for this 😍
