    Enjoyed your anti influencer takes. When the focus of content becomes more exploitation based than informational, credibility suffers. I don’t even think it takes somebody well versed in literature or experience to understand this. It’s a pretty omnipresent social and behavioral construct. Nobody confides in or trusts somebody who primarily talks shit and produces little of value. Your authenticity and grasp of reality is much needed in SC, education and more. Thanks for the content Will.

      So true and well said. It's funny that the same people that shit on influencers for having a following are exploiting them in hopes of also gaining a following, it's so ass backwards and to people who see right through it like Will said, it's some charltan bullshit

    So that's why you do the cuts, now I understand. Never was accusing you bro it's just that the fitness landscape of youtube is a crazy place. So I always try to be skeptical when it comes to judging lifts I see on a youtube video as anyone should be after the charades we've seen from certain youtubers over the years. But another great piece of content you put out, the long format suits you as a creator. You should try doing program breakdowns in the future, I'd love your take on famous programs such as SS or 5/3/1.

    cardio improves interset recovery in resistance training as well. this is not insignificant in my opinion because it makes resistance training a lot more enjoyable. like imagine having your HR spike to max and remain elevated for minutes after every set. that's worse than the actual lifting imo.
    and yeah, an anti-influencer argument as you described is an ad hominem fallacy. kinda embarrassing they would post such fallacies with their name and reputation at stake. hopefully they eventually realize what they're doing and delete that crap asap.

    Cardio is mandatory along with strength training.
    I do 3 zone 2 phase running sessions per week+ long walks on other days. + 5 days lifting

    People, especially beginners shouldn’t neglect cardio BUT
    Even with ~6 calories extra burned per pound of muscle per hour, if you are carrying several extra pounds of muscle it will greatly benefit your resting metabolism. 10 extra pounds of muscle on a frame (not uncommon for a beginner to build in their first year) means burning an extra calorie every waking minute. That really adds up!

    Will, I just had surgery on my ACL + meniscus. Surgery went well and I'm working hard on the PT. What tips do you have for me regarding the return to sport phase? I'm mid-thirties and play basketball recreationally but have aspirations to dunk on softies half my age 🏀😬

      Look up ACL return to sport guidelines. They are fairly reasonable, albeit general recommendations. In a lot of cases with sound PT and strength/conditioning, it comes down to time

    Question for you Sir, what is your opinion in regards to how the Russian Powerlifting programs perform their sets of 80% as compared to us the Americans. They do 5x3@80% where we do 3x5@80%. Please elaborate if you will. I'm used to 3x5@ 80% and I noticed that you like this rep and set pattern yourself. Tnx brother 🙏

    Will reminds me of my college football coaches who would progressively get more fired up at the same mistake from the same practice because it wasn’t corrected live but they corrected it at the start of film session and you kept making the same mistake hours early before it was corrected and now u have to feel their wraith agahaha

    Disagree regarding sarco/osteopenia. It's important to build muscle in younger populations so that they don't become that frail old lady. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It's very hard for an old lady to get muscle (though possible and worthwhile!), where the younger person will improve more easily. Get that mass on young and then just hold on to it as you age. Don't find yourself needing to become a bodybuilder just for quality of life as a 70yr old.

    Hey Will you make more sense than anyone else on RUclips. I am just a dude in his 30s who's been doing bjj for a long time as a hobby. I'm trying to gain strength/muscle and be less injured with limited time. Do you have a program I can subscribe to?

    Man, steady state cardio? Can’t I just play pickup and go hard on defence?
    Also that 6 more calories per hour number actually sounds kinda insanely high to me. 6*24 = 144, if I gain say 5lbs of muscle in a year as a beginner my basal metabolic rate increases by 144*5 = 720 calories?! That’s larger than what most people recommend as a deficit for losing weight

    I can't get rid of my buttwink when I squat, is it really a problem?

    • @Brekke_and_Bekfast
      @Brekke_and_Bekfast 4 месяца назад +2

      I had the same issue forever and thought I needed to fix it. I've since come to the conclusion that as long as I'm maintaining rigidity in my whole midsection (back, sides, and front) then I'm good to go. If you're not getting hurt, you're probably fine. However, a cause of buttwink COULD be that you're starting off your squat already in a duck butt position (you're hyperextending your low back, pushing your butt out as opposed to tucking it in). This can cause excessive butt wink. I'm sure there's other things I'm not thinking about but these are the broad strokes

    • @Shrimp972
      @Shrimp972 4 месяца назад +1

      @@Brekke_and_Bekfast Yeah I am starting to think like you, I worked on ankles, hips(adductor) and starting with a neutral back. I have a big lordosis as a normal posture. And every time I record myself I keep buttwinking, no pain tho.

    • @joeberger3441

      Try pushing hips back just a tad bit more WITHOUT arching your back, before you descend into the squat. Might help
