OMG! quit hairdressing in 2016 because of politics. I could not stand clients thinking I was their sounding board. I love sewing and crafts, very relaxing. Good job on this video

When I make rope bowls I haul out my vintage Singer Model 319 (circa 1956) - yeah, it is ancient but for some things the stitch quality rivals my Brother Top Of The Line😏 I have a crazy a$$ed idea for making a rope bowl with my Coverstitch machine that does both Top and Bottom coverstitch. I will not know until I try.

I used to have a custom drapery workroom and we did hand-guided quilting for bedspreads. We used two threads in the top. Often I couldn't find a thread that matched the spread, so I'd find two that when blended perfectly matched the colors in the bedspread. Knowing that and watching you do this gives me a lot of ideas.

Hey, I have had no luck finding colorful rope but thank you for the reminder to keep looking. Maybe I can wrap colorful fabric strips from scraps around plain rope and sew that.

Hi, I do rope bowls, never used double thread only fabric wrapped, but I saw a cool tutorial after making bowls to decoupage design paper napkins onto rope with Mod Podge. I loved the effect. Thanks & Blessings!

Thank you, I'm going to try this. BTW I have elna 720p which is the same as janome 6700. It has 4 zig zags, two will go to the 9mm width the other two only 7mm because they are labeled right and left. I'm thinking you machine has another zig zag

I have the S9 like Christopher is using in the video and I just checked my zig-zag stitches. They only go to 7mm. My decorative stitches go up to 9mm.

@@marthaswartz882 good to know, 3 of those zig zags I mentioned are in my decorative stitches. I was surprised that they duplicated the 9mm zigzag in the decorative stitches.

@@carolc864 I just looked in my decorative stitch category and saw a file that had a zip-zag stitch. I increased the width and it went up to 9mm. Now why did Janome do it this way?? TY.

You are using a VERY expensive machine directed to a fraction of people with high buying power. What about teaching us, not so powerful AND owning only a domestic sewing machine but would live to recreate what you are teaching?

I use a heavy duty Singer machine for rope bowls. No fancy stitches. I got the Singer because my sewing machine technician warned me about doing heavy duty or thick sewing on my Janome. I use the Singer for binding my quilts too.

There’s other people who do rope bowls on RUclips, you can watch his videos and also learn from other people who may have your sewing machine for any tips on using that machine for rope bowls 👍🏼 what I find that works best is just experimenting and learning what your machine will handle and what it can’t handle.
