      @@theguillaume73 If you like challenges, then I would definitely recomment you to play 10x10 international. Lidraughts.org is the perfect site for that (you will find there problems to solve as well, on the main page, down, to the right), but playing level is high there. If you want to face more random opponents, then you can play on Checkers.online.

    My man is one of the greatest chess players the world has ever seen. Even folks like Garry were scared of his attacks. Unfortunately he never won the world championship title but for sure he won some of the best games that you can ever witness in the game of Chess. Just look at his attitude, his personality, his curiosity and desire to keep pushing himself to experience new things and have fun out of it. Respect to Vassily Ivanchuk.

    That was a very interesting interview. I'm not sure where else I would get this insight. I'm an adult chess improver, wanting to reduce the amount of simple blunders I make. From what Ivanchuk says, it sounds like if you don't eliminate blunders early in life, you probably never will. So while I'm sure I can still do much better, I shouldn't have unrealistic expectations.

      It seems to be exactly as you write. This may be a bit demotivating for older players, but this automaticity developed as a child is very important in improving the level of play.

    Василий Михайлович настоящий Дон Кихот современности. Гений настольных игр. Помню его удивительные шахматные этюды. Я рад, что шашки доставляют ему большое удовольствие и вдохновение. Хотел бы увидеть Василия Михайловича за игрой в Го (Вэйци, Падук) и Риичи-Маджонг.

    Every time I hear something about checkers there are different rules being played. I've never heard of pieces being able to capture backwards/move backwards. I've heard some people that wanted to play that their rules said that capturing wasn't required, so I don't even know if their are official rules that say in some variations of the game that captures aren't forced. I just could never get interested because there always seemed to be different rules. Chess rules don't change.

    • @checkers_tv
      @checkers_tv  4 месяца назад +2

      There are different variations of the game, but rules of one variation never change. For example in the USA they play American Checkers where you can't take backwards. In Brazilian draughts you can. In 10x10 international (mentioned in the video) you can. This is the most popular and prestigious tournament version. And of course there are official rules written and published on the official world federation's website: FMJD.org. In chess as well there are different variations.

      @@checkers_tv Interesting, so is the 10x10 International the one that's mainly used to compete? Is this what Ivanchuk primarily plays?

    I've been trying to find the boards and checkers they use in these tournaments but have been unsuccessful. Anyone know where I can find them?

    • @checkers_tv
      @checkers_tv  4 месяца назад +2

      Getting exactly such boards (electronic DGT) is very difficult because they stopped producing them a dozen or so years ago. I heard they could produce a series with an order of at least 50 boards, but I don't know what the price would be. In the 2000s, one board cost about 800 euros. Ordinary wooden boards are quite easy to buy and are available in many online stores.
