To become a citizen you need to first become a resident for a total of 5 years. So you only have to qualify as a temporary resident for 4 years and then renew to permenant and after one more year you can apply to become a citizen. We are doing that process right now.

Hello, Great video. Thanks for posting. At 22:56 in the video, you talk about pension income amount. Sergio talks about pension incomes… Salary minimum days of 183 days (six months). $4600 usd. Please check and confirm if this is $4600 per month every month for six months…. OR… a total of $4600.00 total over 6 months ($766.67 per month for 6 months). Sergio starts by telling it the first way, then the female commentator switches it to the second way. I think something was lost in the translation from TOTAL OVER 6 MONTHS to MONTHLY. BIG difference. Please confirm.

Sept 25, 2022 - Joel, Since this video was published some months ago I hope your recovery went well. I have 2 questions.
    1. I have just found out about the Regularization program. I do meet the passport requirements. I am now out of Mexico and will return next month. Can I stay for 1 month and on the 31st day apply for the temporary residency through the Regularization program OR I have to stay 180 days? I have heard that the Regularization program expires at the end of 2022.
    2. At the beginning of the video you mentioned that upon arrival in Mexico 180 days is not automatically provided to each tourist. Can you please provide what I need to say or do (in Oct 2022) to make sure I get 180 days. If I must stay 180 days and there is a chance that the Regularization program is extended into 2023, I want to make sure I meet all of the requirements.

I moved at 79 on 11-2-2021 to Queretaro, Mexico due to the deadly crimes in the USA, and living costs were too expension, for a person on a pension.I lift before my life was taken and my entire pension went for rent.$850 dollars less living in Mexico permonth. All utilities are included in my 100% beautifully furnished apartment, that included maid service.
If you are retired, or can work online, MOVE to a less expensive and safe country. USA does not care about us, but bringing in selected migrants, and supporting them 100% with our tax

Lots of canadians are escaping canada and relocating to south america and mainly Mexico and Costa Rica. I'm getting the hell out of canada soon and it looks like mexico is the most likely option for me.

You’re right but Mexico is actually still North America and Costa Rica is Central America.

Who has 4600 US dollars pension ???
This is almost 6000 canadian !
There are no pensions like this in Canada , exept government ones .
Concidering much lower cost of living in Mexico this amount is insane .

    • @MovingToMexiCo

Well the requirements for Permenent Residency in the US or Canada is much, much higher. This is the income test to go right to permenent. There are also asset tests that can be met if a pension is not in that amount. Most people go temporary for 4 years and then apply for their permanent.

Not many have $186,000 in their savings account either. I agree, $4,600 is really high considering you can live well for under $2,000. Is that a gross I wonder? In other words, if you are getting $3,600 a month but not taxable, that would equate fairly easily to a gross of around $4,600 if u were paying taxes. Idk...I don't like the idea of having to leave the country every 6 mos. for a day. I did see a table online that showed a lesser income amount threshold requirement if you apply for your permanent residence in Mexico, as opposed to doing it at a consulate in the USA. They called it UMA & just MA I believe. It seemed odd, but they had two separate income threshold requirements.

generally less than the States or Canada. However with general inflation and other factors the gap is getting smaller.

Honestly. A big country and there are still many places in Mexico that are super affodable. Beachside is definitely on the move but if you are prepared to be a bit away from the beach a ton of very cheap options.

I live in a coastal beach community in Thailand. Luckily its still affordable. Probably because its not legally allowed for foreigners to.buy and own property-homes here. You can see our little beach area on our next vlog @globalvisions3.
