  • Hear how Andy Cato developed Wildfarmed - an innovative system for growing grains in a permanent pasture ecosystem.
Now available in the UK, Andy will explain how farmers are getting involved and how Wildfarmed is creating a market that rewards quality rather than quantity - one that makes sense economically as well as ecologically.
    Recorded at Groundswell 2021

Fascinating and inspiring. I really pray that this system progresses with all speed.

This was a great video. Thank you for the inspiration. I know that it did not come from Andy, but I so love the idea that when soil improves to a certain point, the noxious weeds go away on their own. That is such a good reminder that everything in nature serves a real purpose.
One observation. I am from the US and attending a homesteading festival this summer. In all the sessions I attended, there was no real mention of climate change. Building soil as Andy outlines will indeed bring about climate change. It has to. When you take a plot that goes from desertified to lush with life, it changes local climate. You do that enough and over a big enough area, climate will indeed change.

Its amazing to hear the point about leaving soil undisturbed. Scientists have found that much of the amazon rain forest is agricultural land which was left undisturbed for centuries, even millennia, and thus had overgrown and thrived.

What a journey you've already had, it's inspiring. We started our market garden charles dowding style this January, and I am very curious to see where we'll be at 14 years from now :)

    Incredibly inspiring.
Question regarding the mowing and grazing of the perennial herbal lay: does the mowing/grazing of the grasses not increase competition with the crop plant?
