First of all, its anime doesnt work with logic, second he was in shock so he couldnt react properly, third if he had them captured they still would have found a way to die so either way it would be in vain to save those that doesnt want to be saved

They say it, the switch is part of their bodies, that could mean a lot of things, but that could mean if they’re knocked out or unconscious, but still alive, it would activate. No one really knew, not even the guy, because he made it up.
He himself is moving fast too, he is hitting other things with a force that is caused by his speed. If a car runs right into a truck, the cars momentum will be stopped because the other force is that over whelming
