I was just watching your videos last night on the pc variants. I was disappointed they didn't fully work on console. Thank you for keeping up to date on this stuff. I only watch your videos before purchasing a headset. Keep up the good work man, appreciate you
Great Video. I had the original V2 BlackSharks and loved them. I currently have the EPOS H6Pros but I was always impressed with the V2 black sharks pros. We have to go and hear these ones for myself.
Yeah mine broke in the same spot you were showing. I got ahold of razer and they replaced mine with a brand new headset. I was just putting mine on my head and it just snapped. Was so weird.
This is going to be a long comment so TL;DR at the end. Great video as always. I bought the V2 Pro 2023s in December and have loved almost everything about them as I did the wired V2s before them. If I had the money I'd probably buy the PS5 ones just to not have to move my dongle from my PC lol. That said, I have some insight on the build quality issue. Now, I have owned two previous Blackshark models, a wired V2 and a V2 X. Neither one ever had a single issue with anything cracking or breaking for years and I'm not rough with my gear. I bought the V2 Pro 2023 edition in December. They were fine too, until in March, I was just looking at them and noticed a hairline crack, right on that bracket on the left side right where the wire on the inside would be mounted. Not only that, but there was also a very slight bulging right next to the crack where the other wire would be. I thought "What is this?! I've only had them like 3 months!" Well, I saw enough broken headsets on reddit and amazon to know I should just RMA the thing now when it's clear that it is a stress crack and not an impact break from mishandling it. After a little back and forth with Razer they agreed the headset was faulty and sent me a new one which I just received yesterday. The box design was slightly different so it is definitely one produced a bit later than my old one. And you know what? The second I put the new one on, I immediately noticed the clamping force seemed a little softer than my first one. This leads me to think that the people that are all getting the same piece on the headset breaking are just receiving units that putting a little too much force on that piece. I noticed also the plastic on that piece feels a little different compared to my V2 and V2 X. Maybe they went with slightly different plastic on the V2 Pro 2023s? Or maybe they just feel different because I've had them awhile lol. Either way, coming from someone who has had 3 different Blacksharks and only my V2 Pros gave me an issue, I'd advise against implying people are just not taking care of their stuff. You can just say you haven't had any issues and leave it at that. We've probably all been there with a product at some time. Everyone else loves it, and you're the unlucky person that got two or three faulty units in a row until you just swear off the company lol. TL;DR: Love the video, you rock, some units of the V2 Pros maybe have too much clamping force causing the breaks. The second you notice any kind of fault in that piece, RMA immediately, Razer should take care of it if it's clear you did not smash it or something.
I see your point, but I didn't call anyone out, I just mentioned the reviews. I can only speak on a review what I have used, and that's many many many pairs of blacksharks with no issues. This is also why I twist and bend the heck out of my headsets in my videos, because I would rather break mine and show you all a weak point rather than you all receiving them and snapping easily.
@@TheTechne And I definitely appreciate you putting your headsets on the line lol. And yeah I get you can only speak to your own experience, and it's good to hear someone say they got a solid product. I just mean, I wouldn't personally add in lines wondering what other people are doing to theirs, when most people are probably putting them through less torture than your twists in the videos lol. Hopefully my replacement will be fine because I really love the headset otherwise.
@@guiltygamerxrd yeah, I have been waiting for one to bust on camera, lol. I actually do that stress test after all my use and testing also. I would say the only headset I was scared would break was my old Arctis pro. But they just got super loose.
Nice to see Razer finally giving the Xbox some love with it's wireless headsets. I was using the PC version on my PS5 and don't see enough of a difference to warrant a purchase.

Great Video Techne! Question: Is there Sidetone on the PS5 Version? Can you hear yourself through the headset? After having this feature on my SteelSeries, I can't live without it
If i play 95% on the PC but very occasionally play on Xbox series S. Would I be ok to go for the Xbox version? Do I lose anything from the standard PC version? Thanks
I was literally going to order the 2023 version this week and the timing could not be any better for this to release for my ps5!! Very excited Techne!!! 🤩🥳🙌🎧
What's your feedback about it? Are the eq AND mic settings on the phone saved in some onboard memory so it's applied when using it with 2.4Ghz on PS5/PC ?
Watched your video on the Gen 1’s years ago and fell in love with that headset. Caught a used pair on Amazon for a $100-120 and it did great. Recently pulled them back out and the gen 1’s compared to the ps5 pulse is night day better. Now i can’t wait to upgrade to the new ones after this review. Again excellent reviews, much appreciated!
*** It is absolutely worth noting that the xbox version IS NOT compatible with streaming to Twitch from Xbox. Which is infuriating because this is the headset that Xbox streamers would want to get since it has the high quality microphone. It will try to impede you from streaming overall, and if you manage to get your live stream up, it will not output audio to twitch, even when the headset/mic works in game chat or party chat. Do not buy if you intend on streaming from xbox. I just threw $200 away.
Whats the difference between the PC version and the console version if you are going to use them on pc? I saw the console versions going for way cheaper for some reason
PC version has 2 more Esport EQ settings available (Valorant and CS:GO) I'm on PS5 and personally wish I had just kept the regular 2023 version instead of getting the console version.
The build definitely isn't "perfectly fine" if countless people have brought up the same issue that those brackets break over time. I've had this happen to 2 pairs of these. I LOVE these headsets for many reasons. The sound is good enough for me, the mic is amazing, and they feel very cozy on my head -- but I'll never get another one because of the cheap construction there. The "How people break these" comment... I "broke them" by putting them on my head and taking them off. I'm never rough with any of my gear. Stuff costs money, and I don't happen to have an endless supply of that. So I think it's less of "I broke them" and more, they just fell apart because they're cheap pieces of crap. I love your reviews, but don't discount several people's experiences with something and act like they're invalid because it hasn't happened to you. After my first one broke while I was just sitting there playing a game, I looked up how often this happens to people and it looks to be fairly common.
That still completely misses my point. I'm not saying that this will happen to every single pair of these headsets, but just because you have a pair (or pairs) that hasn't broken in that way, doesn't mean that they're perfectly fine and that others haven't had a pair (or pairs) that have broken there due to no fault of their own. In your experience they're fine, sure, but not overall if this is a fairly often reported issue. They were also my main headset, worn every day for months on end, they weren't cycled out regularly. Several people have reported this issue. I'm well aware that there are countless pairs of these headsets that it will never happen to, but to disregard all the cases that it has happened and putting the blame on the user is a mistake. I am very glad that you did at least bring attention to the issue in the video, so that's great. Also, credit for saying that *in your experience* they're fine. Putting the blame directly on the user is rather insulting, at least in my case (and reportedly several others), as I did nothing wrong with either pair of my 2023s that should have made the right ear cup break off. You mention that you let your 9 year old use them, I'm assuming to illustrate that even a child didn't break them when using them. I guess because kids are known to be rough with things... I get where you're going with that, but that doesn't invalidate my point either when I clearly stated that I wasn't rough with them. Being rough had nothing to do with it. They just broke. For no apparent reason. While just wearing them. In the middle of just sitting at my pc playing a game. I'm also pretty sure that I have a larger head than a 9 year old, as would most adults, so I'd bet that my head placed more stress on the point of failure than a 9 year old's head would place on the joints. So maybe it's just a rather large melon problem that causes this issue after wearing them for countless hours. Whatever the reason, it does happen. It was interesting too, because it wasn't just a quick snap. The first pair's ear cup broke off in 3 stages over the course of months. First the inner plate of the joint snapped off. I didn't think that much of it. I figured "oh well, they still seem fine... not sure why that happened." Then a few months later something from inside the joint broke off. Then finally I was just sitting there and the whole thing snapped and the metal wires dug into my bald head lol the cup just dangled there. As I stated before. I LOVE these headsets. It makes me sad that I'm not willing to buy another pair, and I hope that anyone that gets them has a better experience than I did... anyway this is already way too long, keep up the great work. I'll keep watching.
@seviin2685 Get a grip, man. Any product has a percentage of failures. So because you experienced a fault, which is clearly a minority, that should be a warning to all gamers? Get over yourself. I had a PS5 that overheated and failed. So should I be warning everyone else not to buy one, just in case? Whether you treated the headset rough or not is irrelevant. You obviously feel offended by the suggestion. But to assume your experience is applicable to all these headsets, and doubt the words of Techne because he hasn't had the same experience as you. I don't understand why some people feel compelled to share a bad experience with a product and state it as fact. I had the Audeze Maxwell and experienced a foil crinkle sound by simply putting the headset on & off. The driver was essentially broken. I didn't feel compelled to warn others not to buy the Maxwell, just because I had a bad experience. My point being, IF you didn't mishandle the headset, there's a very good chance you won't experience the same fault with another headset. If it was a design flaw, the problem would be more widespread than a few people posting broken pics on Amazon.
You appear to have not read everything I said. Anything that I would say to rebut any of your points I have already said in the previous posts... just reread (or read). No where in anything that I posted did I warn anyone off of this headset. I brought more awareness to a fault in the design. I never told anyone not to buy them. I actually said that I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else, and aside from the fault in the build quality, I give them an absolutely glowing review. You contradict yourself in your own post by saying, "Whether you treated the headset rough or not is irrelevant" and then go on to say, "My point being, IF you didn't mishandle the headset, there's a very good chance you won't experience the same fault with another headset. If it was a design flaw, the problem would be more widespread than a few people posting broken pics on Amazon." Anyway, you can just read anything I wrote to answer your points, as it'll just be retyping the same things over an over at this point that I already typed the first time.
I understand the app is still experimental but from what you can tell will you be able to connect existing Blacksharks to the new app? I just bought my pair late last year ive been using on my PS5 and really enjoying but if theyre not able to connect to the app thats a bit disappointing.
So if you get the Xbox version, connect to PS5 in USB mode, does that not allow control from the mobile app when using on the PS5 - seemed to suggest they were features and functions you missed out on??
@@WhiteHartMartThank you for the reply, I’ve been trying to figure out if I should get these or really break the bank on the newer white set of the steel series nova pros. Just looking for an immersive headset with adjustable EQ’s.
Hey techne , would be great if u reply to my comment That does the ps5 version of blackshark v2 pro supports the same functions as the normal pc one like pro tuned FPS setting and all and should i go for the ps5 ones rather than the normal ones?
I have 3 questions which I could not find the answers to- 1) some people have complained under amazon reviews that they couldn't get the mic to work(xbox edition). Is this true? 2) no information online on bluetooth simultaneous connectivity. 3) would a pair of black shark v2 pro 2023 fit the 2024 model? Thank you
For me the Arctis Nova Pros wins. I have the X version as I have a Series X. It’s worth the money. Can find on sale. With the Arctis I now have one headset for all my platforms. I use simultaneous Bluetooth so it’s another bonus. Just note to use Sonar and adjust your eqs accordingly as that brings the headset to life and mic.
If I’m using Audeze Maxwell Xbox edition, is there any advantage of this Razer Xbox version over it other than being lighter? I know the drivers are different and Maxwell has support for Dolby Atmos but to me it may not matter that much if the sound of the Razer is good. Thanks
Hi I use to play on xbone but now I play on ps5 because the games are much better I have the audeze maxwell but I don't use them because there too too heavy for every usage and I play 8 hours a day I'm using the turtle beach stealth pro I would go with the razer 2024 edition because there much much lighter and comfy your going to lose some volume because the audeze maxwell get very loud stay safe and happy gaming
@@jamesstevens968 so far I don’t really have issue for the gaming session hours I have with Maxwell. Usually just around 2-3 hours, not super long. I just rewatch some of the Razer Blackshark v2 pro 2023 PC version reviews and seem the staging and sound imaging not that superb. I mainly play fps game so if that’s not that good, guess less motivation to get it
@@AgingBoyto be fair all headphones can use Dolby atmos. Thats just their marketing tactic to make it seem it’s special made for it. All they do is give you a code to buy the license for free.
I also got the Xbox version of the Maxwell, as my PS5 has just collected dust for over a year. The drivers are extremely sensitive, but have unmatched sound quality. There isn't a gaming headset out there for sub 500 dollars that sound as good. Just don't be wearing them close to a running microwave, trust me on that one. I only use my Maxwell for 'game night', a once a week all night marathon of gaming. However, I need a daily driver, as my Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2 Max has broken where they usually break. I am considering either the newer Gen 3, or this Blackshark v2 Pro (Xbox). I already know my old Gen 2 Max is a fantastic headset and as a daily driver aside from the common failure point. Now that I've learned the Blackshark also has the same common failure point, I may end up going with the Gen 3 Turtle Beach.
With that headband bracket issue popping up rather frequently, they should honestly just release a version with metal ones. Increase the price by like ten to twenty bucks, and all'd be okay.
Hi, quick question about the PS5 version: are the eq AND mic settings saved to onboard memory once you disconnect the headset from the phone? I would like the EQ/Mic settings to be active using 2.4Ghz on both PS5, PC, and Macbook, with the settings done prior through my phone. If it can't save the settings of both EQ and Mic onboard, I don't see the point compared to the regular 2023 edition. Or is there another way?
I have the PS5 version and had the regular PC 2023 version. The PS5 version for me will not connect to the app to even make any adjustments. The 2023 may require Synapse but it at least saves and worked on my PS5. Also the PS5 version lacks a couple of game EQ settings that the regular 2023 version has
Not usually one that automatically reaches for the Wicked Cushions pads but the Freeze pads have massively improved these for me. Far less irratating material and have improved the sound (less 'boxy/artificial soinding).
The 2023 versions don't have a 3.5mm headphone jack so it's very awkward to try to get them to work on Xbox, it can't be done simply without 3rd party hardware I think, whereas the 2020 version has a 3.5mm headphone jack so can just be plugged in I think, they should both work on PC via USB, the newer one should also be able to use Bluetooth and the older 3.5mm headphone jack cable
I have the 2023 version and I get a lot of connection issues like cut outs and robot sounding audio. I’ve tried everything to fix it and never got better. How are these as far as connectivity?
hi is there something that the playstation version lacks compared to the 2023 version? im thinking of getting the PS version just in case i buy the console in the future
@@TheTechne Weird, I also have not heard any reviewer point it out buy personally the ones I tried out always had it. A lot of people online shared the same experience as me and unfortunately I had to return them. I just couldn't bare it, otherwise they were absolutely great. Ty for your answer
@clawson32104 don't know how you managed that because Razor support emailed me saying, unfortunately, you can only save the pc model custome settings to pc. I'll get the ps5 version now, though.
@@danybayor Did you get the PS5 version? What's your feedback about it? Are the eq AND mic settings on the phone saved in some onboard memory so it's applied when using it with 2.4Ghz on PS5/PC ?
@arkeez1181 Yes, I got the ps5 version. Work exactly like the pc one, but you can't customise through the app and save the settings. It's just what I was looking for. I believe there are more layers and depth to the customisation on pc, but the ps5 version can still perform a fair bit of customisation for games of your choice. You just do all the customisation in the app and ittl save to your headset when paired. Sidetone was my biggest issue as I couldn't save setting from the pc version to play on my ps5. Now, I can turn sidetone on and use a variety of default sounds, like broadcast, meeting room, or even personal customisation.
@@danybayor Hey, thanks a lot for your feedback. I'm sorry but something was not very clear: when you said "but you can't customise through the app and save the settings", you were talking about the regular 2023 PC version, right? If yes, that means that with the PS5 version, you can: 1. Pair your headset to your phone with bluetooth 2. Customize all the settings (including eq and MIC), those get saved to the onboard memory 3. Disconnect the headset from the phone 4. Connect the headset to PS5 / PC / Macbook through wireless 5. Enjoy the headset with the saved Mic/eq settings (selected on the phone) active Is that right?
So I just got the pc version of this headset and was unaware the console version existed and am using it on my ps5. But I have an issue with the mic and there’s a constant feedback in the mic and my party of friends say it sounds like a constant popping sound. Is it because I have the headset connected to a console and not pc?
You have a bad unit. Return it if possible. I have both the Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 and PS5 console version and both microphones work perfectly and come across crystal clear. I actually prefer the 2023 version for the PS5 as it's volume is louder
And a much tighter fit. That's my issue with Wiked Cushions. They're overkill in the thickness department and increase clamping force. So many RUclips reviewers recommend them but never discuss the downsides, such as increased clamping force and added weight.
Could you tell me if it is possible to connect the Razer Blackshark v2 Pro to 2 devices at the same time? That is, if you can connect them to a console and a cell phone at the same time or a PC and a cell phone at the same time and listen to the audio simultaneously from both devices?
I have a problem with them. White noise is present both on 2.4 and BT. Its not like its super loud or something, when you play game/listen to something you dont hear it all but its frustrating anyways. I own also sony ps5 wireless headset and theres none white noise. Anyone tried to solve this issue ?
5:56 just my opinion, but I’ve seen people complain about build quality with all sorts of headsets and I’ve learned that most people are actually not good at taking care of their tech and treat it like garbage. I just purchased the blackshark v2 pro 2023 for my ps5... Also put on the wicked cushions in. Next day shipping to Ky!! Super comfy. Not as "cool" as what I thought they would be but it's allllllll good.
Try to reset the pads by putting something cold on them for 5-10 minutes, it’s getting hotter and hotter out there in these warehouses and the gels just need a little resetting
@@WickedCushionsThanks guys! I figure it's like anything. At first sitting not direct but in the ac of the house is really cool. Idk if the USB-c will make much difference in the quality of connection but so far mine has been great with no white noise these folks are talking about. I like that they have a console version now, but hesitant to buy without simultaneous audio. Tried on a pair of the regular 23 v2 pro, nice , comfy and loud. But lacked a little bass. Still lightweight and not to tight clamping. Might stick with my TB stealth 700 gen 2 MAX headset , though they do clamp a little tight.
I bought Black Shark v2 Props 5 today. I bought it to use it alternately on PC and PS5. But when connected to PC, synapses won't recognize it. I have a USB-C input on the back of my pc and it recognizes the headset but the synapse app doesnt, so idk if its because they are barely new or what, but I can use them normally on my pc with the mentioned usb-c input, hope it helps
Can it be used on phone with type c wireless? And does the app work now?
@@bhaiyayatin8463 I have no idea, I returned them pretty quick, having to use the phone app to EQ them was a pain in the ass, if anything just buy the PC version that supports both console and PC.
Great Video Techne! Question: Is there Sidetone on the PS5 Version? Can you hear yourself through the headset? After having this feature on my SteelSeries, I can't live without it
Yes there is. I talk a decent amount about it in the features and functions section
Thanks man love your videos
What app is it, will it work with the 2023 version?
How does a "pro" product not have a wired connection option? If these are out of battery you're screwed
I love your reviews so much. Always end up deciding after a video of yours!
If i play 95% on the PC but very occasionally play on Xbox series S. Would I be ok to go for the Xbox version? Do I lose anything from the standard PC version? Thanks
yes, i have just coped the new headset and they work perfectly fine on xbox and pc.
But the xbox series x doesnt have usbc
have you tried the beyerdynamic MMX 300 headset or the beyerdynamic MMX 200 Wireless Gaming Headset just curious of your thoughts on them
you are needed and appreciated.. the best
I don't understand why you didn't record your voice through your PC while tweaking the settings in the app. Do the settings only apply to the phone??
Does synapse recognize this if you use it on pc?
Will xbox version
EQ will transfer to ps5 via USB mode ?
I dont have the xbox version, but that a good question for sure!!
did u find out?
Whats the difference between the PC version and the console version if you are going to use them on pc? I saw the console versions going for way cheaper for some reason
PC version has 2 more Esport EQ settings available (Valorant and CS:GO) I'm on PS5 and personally wish I had just kept the regular 2023 version instead of getting the console version.
@clawson32104 may I know your reason?
Why? @@clawson32104
how is the bass? Is there any sub bass on v2 pros or any razer ?
I have owned multiple pairs, even let my 9yr old son use them, with no issues.
@@seviin2685I get your point 100%. Just stating my personal experience. 👍
If it was a design flaw, the problem would be more widespread than a few people posting broken pics on Amazon."
Anyway, you can just read anything I wrote to answer your points, as it'll just be retyping the same things over an over at this point that I already typed the first time.
When do these come out
I understand the app is still experimental but from what you can tell will you be able to connect existing Blacksharks to the new app? I just bought my pair late last year ive been using on my PS5 and really enjoying but if theyre not able to connect to the app thats a bit disappointing.
Do you have to buy the ps5 version, or does the pc version work on ps5
Can you do a top 5 simultaneously connected headset
So if you get the Xbox version, connect to PS5 in USB mode, does that not allow control from the mobile app when using on the PS5 - seemed to suggest they were features and functions you missed out on??

I have 3 questions which I could not find the answers to-
1) some people have complained under amazon reviews that they couldn't get the mic to work(xbox edition). Is this true?
2) no information online on bluetooth simultaneous connectivity.
3) would a pair of black shark v2 pro 2023 fit the 2024 model?

Which one is better the Razer v2 pro console edition or SteelSeries arctic nova pro wired. I play on both PC and Xbox
I’m curious about this too.

Now that I've learned the Blackshark also has the same common failure point, I may end up going with the Gen 3 Turtle Beach.
if u use it on pc, works with the synapse software?
how does the dongle connect to a series x xbox?
The included USB-C to USB-A cable
Does this type-C dongle and normal V2 Pro work with Macbooks…?
does the xbox version eq save when you use it on pc
With that headband bracket issue popping up rather frequently, they should honestly just release a version with metal ones. Increase the price by like ten to twenty bucks, and all'd be okay.

Sidetone can be turned on in the app. It's off by default

Is it only the console versions that work with the app for changing eq settings?
Would this be an upgrade from my hyper x cloud 3s on Xbox? And can they still be used on pc?
The 2023 versions don't have a 3.5mm headphone jack so it's very awkward to try to get them to work on Xbox, it can't be done simply without 3rd party hardware I think, whereas the 2020 version has a 3.5mm headphone jack so can just be plugged in I think, they should both work on PC via USB, the newer one should also be able to use Bluetooth and the older 3.5mm headphone jack cable

If yes, that means that with the PS5 version, you can:
1. Pair your headset to your phone with bluetooth
2. Customize all the settings (including eq and MIC), those get saved to the onboard memory
3. Disconnect the headset from the phone
4. Connect the headset to PS5 / PC / Macbook through wireless
5. Enjoy the headset with the saved Mic/eq settings (selected on the phone) active
Is that right?
So I just got the pc version of this headset and was unaware the console version existed and am using it on my ps5. But I have an issue with the mic and there’s a constant feedback in the mic and my party of friends say it sounds like a constant popping sound. Is it because I have the headset connected to a console and not pc?
You have a bad unit. Return it if possible. I have both the Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 and PS5 console version and both microphones work perfectly and come across crystal clear. I actually prefer the 2023 version for the PS5 as it's volume is louder
I own the 2023 edition how can I enable surround sound on PS5?
the wicked cushions suck for the headset honestly makes the ears warmer.
No you can’t connect to two devices simultaneously
Does the mic catch alot of background noise. When i game i have a fan running most of the time.
no, this model have one of the better mics out there
I have a problem with them.
I still own my V1 Blacksharks and they’ve never broken or squeaked or anything like that.

Idk if the USB-c will make much difference in the quality of connection but so far mine has been great with no white noise these folks are talking about.
