Yeah, I knew about Jagi manipulating him, that was in the original, but it still would be nice to see something where Ken and Shin's relationship is clearly established, then when it all comes crashing down it makes more sense. I mean, a guy won't just betray his best friend immediately just because some guy told him to, Jagi tempting him should be the last straw in what was already a mounting hatred, you know? Maybe that'll be in the Kenshiro-Den...
Kenshiro and Shin weren't trained to fight each other's styles. In the original series, Ryuken reminded them that the Hokuto and Nanten should be co-existing with one another. Shin broke the rules.

The compassion and emotion in the 80s is just different from that of nowadays. It's extremely hard to remake something two decades earlier and still make it good. Modern animation artists just don't have the same feeling as those in the past. While it may be more realistic, the ideology is just gone and skill as well as visual appeal is placed above feeling nowadays.
Ok, the first hnk movie is a classic, no doubt about it. But te new OVA's and movies are doing pretty well. For me, as a hnk fan it's a real pleasure to see new footage about this legendary fighting saga! Of course the 1986 first movie will be in my hearth always...

Agreed, on top of that the new voice suck shit. Also the reaction of the character in the 80's version seems way more legit to me. For instance, when Shin make the scratch on Ken's cheek, he was about to touch Yuria, Ken try to stop him. There also the part where Ken bleed and is all fuck up, Yuria look a lot more worried when she scream his name (and even cry over his wounded body).
kenshiro wasn't yet ready to take on an opponent of shin's level.

Well, it has been over 20 years since the original anime series was first released, so it's not really surprising if there have been changes between now and then.
It's crazy how weak Kenshiro was before he learned the power of sorrow. I legit don't know if this Kenshiro could've beaten Jagi, let alone any other sacred fist of the South Star.

I agree, it's hard to imagine a friendship between them when Shin cries stuff like 'I could never tolerate your existence!' and derives a sick pleasure out of mutilating Ken. I think Toei dropped the ball there when they tried to add a layer of drama and make them friends. Ken wasn't friends with Souther but he still found compassion for him.
I can reveal that there is a character in Kenshiro Den who compete with Shin for the title of Nanto Koshuu Ken successor, so who knows what we'll see.
Not much is known about Kenshiro & Shin's relationship. The TV series introduced a friendship between the two, suggesting their trained together, although in the original manga they were acquaintances so this may well be canon since none of the new movies/manga have hinted at this anymore.
Shin was a fighter who became a Nanto master to impress Yuria, and other shallow acts, which failed on their ass. He also befriended (kinda) Jyuza along the way, based on their mutual love for Yuria.

The voice-acting is shit, the animation is okay, better than most fights in the movies, the art was grasped pretty well but its not good enough for the woman in Fist Of The North Star and Kenshiro.

2D FeelsGood 80's one is way way waaaaaaay better. Yuria's pain, Kenshiro's anguish, Shin Sadistic nature, it's so flat in this. I swear, 80's anime had such to it.
What's Shin's background? How does he know Kenshiro and why's he beefin' with him? I know the show front and back, but I never found out...

I couldn't agree with you more, I've seen the original even translated into different languages and it always works (even with the bad English dub) but this newer version is just pretty, the music is horrible (sounds like Golgo-13 music) and the screams are lame. And at 0:26 what the hell kind of sound is that for a dog?
This scene wasn't near as good as the one in the origional anime and yet the Jagi scenes I think ended up better somehow.

the way it's drawn is better, but I miss the colored auras and the special ways of drawing they used for the old anime to make the fights so exciting. Somehow i must say: I am disappointed....
I'd say it does some things better than old versions. Then again I'm not so picky about the anime because even the "original" anime did things a lot worse than the manga at points.

@@kevinmorel2485 OK, now I get what you're saying. According to the manga - the original story - both are evenly matched. Only Shin had more desire and ambition than Ken. Losing Yuria and fighting his way back to her gave Ken more strength and determination and he was able to defeat Shin.
I personally think that just the voice acting is worse than original, I mean, the art is pretty good and the animation too... of course we all are grown up with the old HNK, but it doesn't mean that the remake must suck, at least in my opinion
Ugh, this is crap. I can appreciate the art style and whatnot, but the voice acting is killing me. Yuria just sounds like she doesn't care compared to how emotional the old Yuria got. Shin's alright, but the new Kenshiro just can't even touch the original. That guy was amazing.

That is something that should be admired, the body builders above aren't admirable though. Not a single thing about them...It's like Pokemon but with two big half naked men instead of pikachu. Silly
