Thanks for showing. I'm 6'1" and 235 pounds. It's nice to get a review from someone who isn't 160 pounds.

Its pretty easy to hit your sag on a coil shock if you measure the distance from the saddle to the back tire when youre at your target sag with your air shock. Once you install the coil just install the spring thay gives you the same distance (I suggest doing this at a LBS that has a good range of test coils for setting up peoples bikes). If your local bike shops dont offer that service you may need to spend a little extra money on 2 or 3 different spring rates because the suggested spring rates from the manufacturers are generic based on weight and dont take into account your suspension design.

im 6.8 ft 240 pound using super deluxe ultimate on my 2022 Trek Sash 9.8 XL size. I love the shock honestly. Never had had any issues. I think you cant go wrong with either of those. But considering Vivid is newer shock its likely better than spdx. Well coil is probably going to be better anyway. I will soon add Trek rail to my collection, it comes with select+. I might change it to coil or vivid

I thought the SD ult air was super easy to set up. I do have the linier can though, so maybe that's why. The HBO makes sure I don't have to worry so much about end stroke so it is very easy to get the mid stroke dialed. I run it with the token it came with, 1 hsc, 3 lsc and just a few clicks of rebound. Somewhere close to recommended pressure and sag for the bike. I never really had any issues getting it dialed. I have ridden it in parks, xc trails and everything in between. I always find that if a shock is too progressive it's extremely hard to get it feel good. Like zeb 2023 in 180-190mm config. Too progressive air shaft and lot's and not the greatest damper IMO. My SD air aftermarket came with HBO btw. If you need the LN or the progressive type largely depends on your frame. I don't know why the tuner would say all LN are bad, since what you need depends on the progressivity of your bike, how you ride and you weight. I also have a SD ult coil and I don't really like it when it get really rough. Seems to me that the hsc chokes or something, making it very harsh on big square edge compressions.

What bikes you got SD air on and Sd coil? The HSC definitely chokes it up. Experienced that big time. The Zeb is to progressive for me( no tokens) , but I have a friend with 3 tokens in it. Depends are your shred level I guess

@@OtterMTBtech SD air is on a fuel exe and the SD coil is on a propain spindrift. On the air I don't think the hsc choke as much, but it could be that half of that is that I ride very different trails on the two bikes.

V2 Sentinel owner at 220 pounds. SDU with progressive air can needs 235psi to get 30% sag. With 2/4 volume spacers in the positive chamber it is spot on. Your numbers are weird man. Are you sure you dont have a defective shock ?

Totally possible. Bikes 25% progression. Progressive Air can I had to run 325 psi. Even though that progressive can made a much better experience.

Seems very strange how you had to put so much pressure in your super deluxe
I’m assuming it could be down to your bikes leverage curve
I’m running about 250psi to get 30% sag
I’m about as heavy as you
Could be because my bike has quite a progressive back end
Also my aftermarket shock came with hydraulic bottom out

I I am 265 and I ride both the air and coil! Never had any of those problems you are talking about. I am on a e-bike which being fat and a 50 lb bike is algae’s on the suspension. I want to try a vivid but that’s a lot more money!

    • @worldstallestmidget

@@OtterMTBtech I do everything! Ride fast! Jumps drops flow trails and janky dh! Even xc! Maybe it’s because I use a 650 spring on my coil and put about 310 to 320 in my air shock
