- Der Zoo Duisburg präsentierte am heutigen Mittwoch, 21.12.2011 im Koala Haus sein neuestes Mitglied der Zoofamilie. Bereits im Mai des Jahres war der kleine Koala geboren worden und reifte dann im Beutel der Mutter heran, bis er Anfang Dezember das erste Mal daraus hervorschaute. Drei Tage vor Weihnachten war es deshalb heute eine besondere Freude, den Koala Nachwuchs im Zoo Duisburg betrachten zu dürfen. Bereits 618g wiegt der Kleine und entwickelt sich nach den Angaben des Pfleger Mario Cindemi prächtig. Sehen Sie einige Impressionen aus dem Koala Gehege vom heutigen Tag und hören Sie ein paar Worte des Tierpflegers.

He does not feel secure on the back of the stuffed animal and those flashing camera lights. He looks so frighten. The picture is so beautiful with the mom, baby and caretaker.
OMG they are just as cute as full grown adults as they are babies. Just devastating the bush fires in Australia killing thousands of these animals, wombats kangaroo's etc. Heart breaking. Makes me cry.

This is really upsetting to see. Australian koalas in a German zoo, being fed eucalyptus flow in from America and subjected to non-stop camera flashes and German commands to "sit still!" I'm heartbroken
They do their best at Zoo Dusiburg. They are Experts and treat the Koalas very well. "Germand commands to "sit still""... such bullshit..

Some koalas just have that bug-eyed look. Northern koalas seem to have ig the most. Add to that all strangers with cameras flashing probably stressing her out a bit.
I wonder what would happen if people were put in exhibs for animals to eatch?

Ihr macht euch wegen des Blitzlichtes und der Zoohaltung Sorgen? Wirklich? Also wäre ich ein Koala, würde ich lieber in einem Zoo am Arm eines netten Pflegers fotografiert werden, anstatt im australischen Busch qualvoll zu verbrennen! Denkt an das Video von Lewis, das um die Welt ging! 😪

Baby is trembling at the beginning . ..I am Aussie. You are putting these koalas under stress and that what causes clamidyia. Koala clamidyia is different to human type. In koalas it starts with eyes. But still can be caught sexually. Koalas mainly get clamidyia from loss of habitat and stress.

Das stimmt . Im Duisburger Zoo ist bei den Koalas immer absolutes Blitzlichverbot. Ich denke es was hier eine Ausnahme , da es seit langem Nachwuchs gab und die Presse da war. Mir ist als Duisburger nicht bekannt das das jemals wiederholt wurde. Also seeeehr seltene Ausnahme. Und das war mit Sicherheit auch nur 30 min. Vorstellung. Danach wie du gesehen hast gab's kein Blitzlicht mehr. Den Leuten wurde das dann direkt versagt.

The exploitation of these koalas are so sad. The fear of all the people and cameras flashing is obvious. This video gets a big 👎
