Just to clarify that the 's' at the end of 'Fernandes' is read as a short 'sh' sound, not a 'j' sound. The same applies to pretty much every portuguese word that ends with 's'.

There's only a difference in the way European Spanish pronounces c(before -e & -i)/z and the way Argentines & Uruguayans pronounce the y/ll sound. If you say it in English it's Fernandes (ez or es) like in Spanish. If you try to pronounce native European Portuguese it's with a short sh sound at the end. Non native speakers are too focused on replicating the s sound that the whole word sounds forced.
I'm from Russia and the vast majority of the names you covered here are pronounced correctly except Solskjær (however, I personally do pronounce it right), Kolašinac and Pulišić (but with the latter you need to understand that pronunciation of his name have mutated because he's American, whilst we tend to call him in the regular Balkan fashion, which can be considered a variant of the norm, given his Croatian descent). Also, there were a couple of names on the list that I'd heard for the first time. Overall, looks like our sporting journalism is doing a good job.

Ko-la-SHI-nuts should be a fairly easy English approximation of this guy's name. Not sure about the use of z instead of sh.

'oo' in English is just about always pronounced like 'u' in German or 'ou' in French, whether long ('moo' - the sound cows make), or short ('book', 'look', etc.) We would never pronounce 'oos' to rhyme with 'gross' or 'close' (meaning near, not shut). So I'm really surprised by what you've written. Are you actually English?

If you say it in English it's Fernandes (ez or es) like in Spanish. If you try to pronounce native European Portuguese it's with a short sh sound at the end. Non native speakers are too focused on replicating the s sound that the whole word sounds forced.

I'm from Russia and the vast majority of the names you covered here are pronounced correctly except Solskjær (however, I personally do pronounce it right), Kolašinac and Pulišić (but with the latter you need to understand that pronunciation of his name have mutated because he's American, whilst we tend to call him in the regular Balkan fashion, which can be considered a variant of the norm, given his Croatian descent). Also, there were a couple of names on the list that I'd heard for the first time. Overall, looks like our sporting journalism is doing a good job.
