As a brown belt i have to say you impressed me mate. with 0 bjj background you already seem to instinctively go the right direction. you shouldnt give up on bjj.
As another brown belt I felt the same. Although I always worry about people like him that are generally athletic. They do really well in the beginning but once they start reaching that stagnation point of around blue belt they have a much higher chance of quitting unfortunately :/

Just want to note that if he trained 2x a day every day for the 30 days, that's 60 sessions. Normally people train about 3 times a week. So he got the same training that some people get in 5 months in only 1 month.
Obviously there are factors like mental rest, drilling, troubleshooting, etc that contribute to progress, but Laurie did quite well after his month of training and clearly earned his stripe. @@blade8768 I'm from Brazil. The cities might be packed, but the countryside is not. The real issue is that the government doesn't give a shit about its people and ALL the supermarkets and shopping centres are open, there are NO mask regulations and people are acting like it's no big deal and it'll just go away. In Australia they had some serious lockdown for months, with fines if people didn't respect it, and smart decisions by the government to stop the spread. That's the main difference right there.

One thing I noticed when I first started out is it's easy to tell when someone is just toying with you like that brown belt at the beginning. It's super frustrating because you are trying your hardest and still getting played with like a child. Another thing is if you roll with someone brand new after just one month you can typically submit them pretty easily so the learning curve is quick and it's super encouraging

Awesome job and you made some serious improvements! I think one of the better measures of bjj growth though is rolling with someone with less experience. Alot of times your training with your partners and it doesn't feel like youre moving forward until that new guy comes in and you roll through them more easily then you thought you could. Would've liked to see you not only go against the higher belts you did but after 30 days going against someone that's been in it less than the month you were.
This was fun to watch. I teach a bjj fundamentals class and I’m a professional videographer/photographer. The dark bands across your footage come from the camera shutter speed put of sync with the lights (50hz or 60hz) adjusting the shutter speed to match the lights frequency will fix it. Most likely 1/60 shutter speed in the us but some countries need 1/50 shutter speed. The closer you get to the right frequency the les you’ll see bands of dark stripes.
