He's actually a great well rounded player. Excels in defense. Really developed his spot up 3. Always been great in transition. Really worked on his finishing this year and has high basketball IQ. He can find his teammates too.
You can see that this is the year where he improved some of his mechanics when attacking the basket. Started using more euro steps and finishing higher off the glass, but the problem during last season then again was him losing some of his speed and explosiveness due to his injuries. He was starting to get some of it back later on, having also worked on athletics during his summer he could have his best finishing season upcoming in his 4th year.
Yea I agree, at the beginning of this season lonzo was still recovering from injury - he stated in the portland game where he dunked on kenrich that he was starting to "get his legs under him" prior to that portland game, he barely ever attempted to drive and was mostly settling for 3's. That being said, his stats took a hit based on that slow start in part due to injury - so his numbers could have looked better had he been 100% from the start it's my estimate. Besides that, the main issue from my perspective is just him consciously making an effort to drive - but since there are a lot of scorers on the team typically lonzo will pick his spots and let them get their groove first before he attempts something more "risky", I believe this season unless bledsoe takes a lot of shots lonzo might have more of an opportunity to be more focused on scoring especially if stan van gundy will play him in other positions as he has stated. I believe lonzo has developed as a finisher but his main issue is balancing his offensive game, relying too much on 3's and that's more of a mindset thing - he has to consciously decide when he wants to drive and such.
