Agree 100%, I'm almost done with the ordnance decals (one type had 16 decals in 6cm. of space...) and they went down very smoothly. They look very similar to Cartograph.
Academy has done a very nice A-10C. Some simplified and some inconvenient in going together and painting due to slide molding, but still very nice. Looking forward the build!
I'm in the process of building this and I've really enjoyed the kit, but the decals are REALLY sticky and you have to flood the model with decal solution in order to be able to slide them into position. You also need to keep an eye on them in the water because they come away from the backing paper really quickly. Also, plenty of weight needed in the nose 😉
I built their 1/72 kit… it had some fit issues I had trouble with and some I didn’t notice until it was too late. I may have to revisit the a-10 in a larger scale.
Its certainly interesting. I'm not sure it will work for all applications, but will be situational depending on the kit. But if it helps reduce the amount of sanding and filing I'm all for it!
Great review, really interesting kit. I would've loved to see a little bit more of the paint schemes from the manual, they were only in frame very briefly.
@@HammerheadModelMaking no worries, I know this is usually easily available information. I just find it one of the more interesting aspects of a kit, but I understand why for most people the main attraction is the tooling
This is a nice kit but i had some different difficult areas to deal with. The assembly manual is kinda confusing with placement of the nose wheel well pipes etc. The engine pod and the stabilizer section to the rear fuselage sank in too far and created a step. I suggest making some landings with styrene strips in the rear fuselage section so the parts will sit flush. Other than that the build was a blast .
At last, a company that figured out molding a fuselage in one piece, it really helps not to lose some nice surface detail. . Box reviews these days are very important not only for quality of the kit but price. If a kit cost an arm and a leg you'd like to know it's worth it.
I sent you my build of this kit a few weeks ago on Instagram. I hope you make a video for this kit. I've built it twice. Definitely not without issues, but overall super fun. How can an A-10 not be fun?
A word of advice. You will need weights in the front, don't close it down before adding the engines and tail, I just dry fitted it yesterday evening....
Not to sure by the video if that is really a seem line on the canopy. To me that looks like the pilot orientation line that sits exactly there on the real aircraft and should be painted black.
True, there is the orientation line, but its on the inside of the canopy and doesn't run the full length of the canopy, so there is still a separate seam line on the outside that will need to be dealt with.
Great review! I’m new to scale model building - have only built 1/24 cars up to this point. I’d like to try a plane. Do you have a reco for a newbie? I love the A-10 Warthog, but not sure if it’s a good kit for a beginner. I also love all things ww2. Would value any suggestions.
If you're interested in trying out an airplane kit, I would recommend the Airfix 1/72 scale P-51D. Its a fairly inexpensive kit, goes together quite well ( I have a video on this kit) and if at the end you find you're not a fan, you're not out a lot of money. I would definitely say this A-10 kit is a moderately difficult kit, it has a high part count and some complex subassemblies. I mean, if you were set on making an A-10, it would be buildable. But, I do recommend starting with something a little more simple.
I am aware there is a line the is supposed to be on the inside of the canopy that shouldn't be removed, however, the exterior does have a mold line that is not present on the actual aircraft that does need to be removed.
Cool review i have built this kit and it goes together very well, well worth a build vid 😊
Great to hear!
The new academy decals are phenomenal
Good to know!

really? they used to be, well, trash

I'm excited to see the build for this. Its on my wish list should be awesome🙂
You and me both!

Thanks for the tips!
Picked up the engine update and seat as well for this one
Nice!
Het Brett, great video, look forward to seeing your build, cheers Liam
Thanks!

Yeah, their 1/72 kit leaves a lot to be desired, but this 1/48 kit looks to be much nicer!
kindly check when its tools were made by product no. at scale, then you know what to expect.
Being the sucker for slide moulding that I am, I'll be interested to see how it all goes together. Could this be the future of fuselage building ?
Its certainly interesting. I'm not sure it will work for all applications, but will be situational depending on the kit. But if it helps reduce the amount of sanding and filing I'm all for it!
@@HammerheadModelMaking Amen my friend.
I have an older A-10 in my stash that has a full ground service with it.
Oh nice!
@@HammerheadModelMakingit is the old AMT Action scene series.

Heres a link to the decals and marking options. Apologies for not leaving it on screen longer.

Please build this soon!
I would say within the next 6 months I will work on this one. I'm still waiting on some aftermarket items to arrive.

Well said!
There is still a molding line to clean up, but it is beautiful.

When I get to it, yes I will do a video on it

I made the tamiya one and it needed 50g!!!
@@pepsiblob It checks out, it seemed VERY tail heavy...
Yeah, thats good to point out! Thanks for sharing!

Did they get the fan blades correct?
I'm not sure about the blades them selves, but I do know the whole first stage compressor sits too far forward.
Looks good
Agreed!
I bought the Tamiya A10a, raised panel lines is a bit dissapointing...but it is an old kit. This A10C model looks a lot better. :)
Yeah, the Tamiya kit is quite old, I think even with its faults, this will be a step up.

Welp, won't be needing these Revell A-10's anymore 😃😯
Lol
In for the algorithm. 😉
Canopy is meant to have that line. Do not remove it. Aircraft has it.
I am aware there is a line the is supposed to be on the inside of the canopy that shouldn't be removed, however, the exterior does have a mold line that is not present on the actual aircraft that does need to be removed.
I should have clarified that in the video.
👍👍
Waiting on them to downscale to 72, or gwh, cmon I need a modern tooling A10 in 72 😂
That would be awesome!
Super 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you 👍
Looks coool. 🐗
Cheers!
Just a comment for the old algorithm.
If I wasn't poor, I'd buy it. Although I'm poor because I buy too many kits.
I can relate.
It's a very nice looking kit, pity I can't afford it and it's not a kit that does much for me, if that makes sense.
I totally get it!
💀👍🏻
