Lovely makes Hayley, particularly the Hailey shirt, it looks fabulous on you, a perfect fit! I also love the velvet dress on you, another great fit and you wear it brilliantly but I do understand if you’re not comfortable wearing it. The long cardigan knit is not bad when you tie the belt off centre but I’m not sure you’ll get much wear out of it as I think you’re not happy with it, maybe because it’s not your usual style? You are a very stylish person and wear your clothes so very well so if this cardigan is not working for you maybe let it go? You’re an amazing maker and I love your vlogs💕
Oh thank you so much for such a lovely comment! I think I might just try styling it different, open with a brighter top underneath. I won’t let it go just yet… that fabric was too pricey! 😂😂
Hi Hayley, looks like it’s the back that is too small. Next time you make the shirt add width to the centre back and create a pleat, often shirts come with a pleat or an action back, just for ease of movement. Great matching on the front of the shirt that’s not always an easy task. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Hi Hayley. I often have the same problem on shirts like your plaid one. When my arms come forward, my shoulder blades stick out more and it's too tight across the back at this level. My fix is to make the bottom of the back yoke a little shorter, make the back body a little wider and taller, and add a pleat on each side so the extra fabric is right over the shoulder blades. Men's shirts are often made this way. It makes for enough ease that you can move your arms to the front comfortably. It also gives a little more ease at the hips, which I always need, Antonia
Lovely makes Hayley. I loved the Tabor top with the wrapped vee. The red velvet dress was really lovely but I would also get a cold neck. I think a necklace would look nice with all your makes. I don’t think the cardigan is really your colour and that is maybe why you are not sure. You could put a scarf at the neckline to add some colour maybe. 😊
I really like the 'Kirsti Cardi' BUT I would attach the tie belt to ONLY come from the side seams to tie at the front as it would give the back a much smoother look and not stick out. Great job on all your projects
The Hailey is wonderful on you. Well done on the fitting and pattern matching. Your idea for a summer version in white and long enough to wear leggings is brilliant.
Great makes, Hayley! Even if you are not entirely satisfied, these patterns were worth trying! I have a Kirsi cardigan myself and I was wearing it all the time last winter.
It worked wonderful, in my opinion, in faux angora, sweater-like soft knit, that I purchased over a year ago in Beyond the Pink Door. I made a short version.@@SewHayleyJane
I like your Christmas dress and your cardi. Your cardi does give you shape. Sometimes I think we are too critical of ourselves. I think you look lovely in both.
I actually quite like the cardigan but agree maybe it’s more a late summer/autumn coatigan instead of a winter layering piece. It’s great to hear about the wins and misses so thanks for sharing!
I like the cardigan. I think it would be nice open as a cardigan/jacket, as you suggested. It would be good in a lighter knit too, but don't think you should give up on the one you've made.
I'm really glad I found this review of the Kirsi cardigan because I bought the pattern and have been wanting to make it. I think it might work better for you if you took off some length (going shorter than the pattern instead of longer). I do otherwise like it on you.
Ooh. That Hailey shirt is wonderful! I think that will go on my list now :) Would you be able to wear the last coat with just a plain leather belt..? Maybe that would draw the attention to your lovely waistline and thereby creating that hourglass shape?
You look lovely in all your makes, honestly the red dress looks amazing on you and the waterfall cardigan is stunning. I hope you grow to like these makes. Your shirt , t shirt and jumper are also lovely xx
Love the striped jumper, the shirt AND the velvet t-shirt! I bought some crushed velvet and cut out a Bestie t-shirt for Christmas Day but everything just went 🤯 So I didn’t get it sewn up 🤦🏼♀️ I REALLY need to get it back out of the project folder and get it made 🤨 I think I would wear your cardigan open as a coatigan in the spring or early autumn. The colours in it will go with so many garments 😄 Have a great day ❤
I have to make broad back adjustment on most tops. Which is an easy adjustment. I love the velvet dress. The last item is a cute make, but it doesn't do anything for you. Like you said it might be the weight of the fabric. I wish it was a little lighter in color. That might be putting me off. Thanks for showing us all your makes. Oh I do love the blue and white sweater.
Ooh I haven’t made a broad back adjustment before, might give that a go next time. Thank you for your lovely comments, we have to give these things a go don’t we?!
I have to do it and sometimes another adjustment. Tomkat Stitchery has a great video on how to do it. Starts about 3 minute mark....ruclips.net/video/I4hXYik0OD4/видео.html
I would say so! The trickiest bit is the V-neck, the first time I did it on this pattern it needed unpicking and re-stitching. But I'd maybe try first in something like a Ponte Roma rather than a loose weave or cable knit
Wow, each make was lovely, I really like your velvet Christmas dress, I did not get the Mrs. Christmas vibe at all, I just loved it. I also liked your velvet tee, thought it looked good with your jeans, but like you said, you do you, but I thought it looked great. Your sweater, I’m so sorry to say was not my favorite, it didn’t look bad, it just was not my favorite. Please do not take it as a negative comment, but you asked us to be honest. Your pattern matching was spot all I can say is WOW did those tops look great! What an inspiration!
Is that a cutting mat that you’ve used behind your thread spool rack on the wall above your sewing desk? Have you done a sewing room tour video yet? What sewing machine model do you use? Please share!?
Hi, no it's not a cutting mat it's a peg board. I can't remember where it's from Block Design. I don't think I have done a sewing room tour yet. I use a Janome 230DC
I loved the video. I wonder if part of the cardi issue is the colour. After seeing all the other brighter colours this colour is a bit drab. I also find the collar overwhelms you a bit. It still looks good, just not as great as the other items. Love your videos, and especially I still love your hair at this length. So flattering
What does the cardigan look like without the belt. I think that might work with a brighter coloured top underneath. Possibly a burnt orange. I get what you mean about a coat not ling enough to cover the cardigan. Uve always thought that difficult to wear. I have shop bought long cardigans. I have actually worn one if them over a light weight waterproof jacket.
Curious about your UK terms; American follower here; Do you refer to “twirling” as a “muslin” ie, a “practice fitting garmet” that you make prior to sewing garments in an expensive fashion fabric?
A toile is a muslin. I believe the word is French in origin. I have noticed a few of the UK, sewist use toiling as a verb. interesting how close and how different our English is.
Square neckline looks perfect and terrific on you, but totally get your "feels" about it. I don't care for the cardigan. I do like the fabric, though. If you love the pattern, go for a less substantial knit. - Kelly
Hi Hayley, love your honesty as well as the makes. I would love to see the cardigan less A-line at the bottom. I can it in a little bit more hugging shape around your thighs. Love the curved edge of the cardi, it might look like a cosy cocoon around you. Have fun with it. If you are not happy with it now, you can't make it worse.
I had the same thought. Too A line. Put some weights in the hem at the side seam. The good thing is you can tape the weights on and try it and remove them if it doesn’t help.Love the Tshirt. ❤🧵🧵
I really really like the red dress on you, looks gorgeous, but I do agree on the cardi, the colour and the collar don’t seem to suit you. We can’t win ‘em al!
I don't think the last item suits you either in style or colour; it's beautiful, but just not for you! The red velvet dress is a winner; you look fabulous!
I think the last make looks to bulky on you, and you don’t look comfy wearing it. Maybe one to pass on to another mum at the school gates. You should wear things you feel amazing in 😊
Lovely makes Hayley, particularly the Hailey shirt, it looks fabulous on you, a perfect fit! I think you’re right, just needs a little more room in the back! Thank you
If I looked like you do in the red velvet dress I would ignore the cold back and the Mrs Christmas vibes because you look simply stunning in it!
Oh wow thank you so much!!!
Just found you and really appreciate your honest approach and real person sizing!
I'm impressed with all your makes!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment
Your plaid shirt is fantastic! What a great, flattering fit :)
Thank you, it’s going to get a lot of wear!
Love the fabric. It does look OK on you❤
Thank you!
I love the Ultimate T shirt pattern, just what I have been looking for. It's now on my "to buy" list.
It’s great, I need to make some in plain colours for everyday wear
Great vlog as always I think your crushed velvet makes were beautiful and I thought the square neck was very flattering on you ❤
Thank you so much!!
I love the Styla dress on you and my first thought was, I love the square neckline and that it’s a little higher than other designs
Haha, that’s interesting! Thank you
Hi Hayley. I often have the same problem on shirts like your plaid one. When my arms come forward, my shoulder blades stick out more and it's too tight across the back at this level. That’s definitely worth thinking about, it has potential for sure!

Great makes, Hayley! Even if you are not entirely satisfied, these patterns were worth trying! I have a Kirsi cardigan myself and I was wearing it all the time last winter.
That’s amazing that you found a pattern that works for you… I’d give it another go I think in a lighter fabric and better colour

I definitely think I'll revisit it in the autumn! thank you
Love love love the blue and white striped top.
I also hate my neck being exposed...
Thank you, I think it has to be summer for me to feel ok with the back of my neck out, I just feel cold otherwise
@@SewHayleyJane haha! I did mean to put back!!! Silly phone.
All your makes are fantastic! The wonderful red velvet is my favorite
Thank you so much!

So glad you matched the plaid! So many people don’t. Drives me crazy!
It's a tricky process but definitely worth it!
Beautiful makes. ❤
Love the cardigan. 😊
Thank you so much
I absolutely loved the look of the Mrs Christmas dress on you…….and you definitely didn’t look like Mrs Christmas!!
Haha!! Thank you
All beautiful, but absolutely love the stripes 👌❤️
Thank you so much!
Another vote for the red dress, it looks lovely on.
Thank you so much

I love love love the V neck blue/white stripe. Is that something an advanced beginner could do? THANKYOU!

100% with you on covering my bottom! Dee is probably cool with more cropped tops 🤩
Haha, yep bum cheeks must be covered
Fabulous makes Hayley 🤩

The top of the sleeve
needs added width.

Aw thank you so much, I’m really happy with my hair at the moment. Thank you for your comment, I think you’re right about the colour
I wouldn’t size up, just increase the the back width slightly. You should be able to find a video. The rest looks like it fits very nicely.
Thank you, good idea

Yes I don’t think I showed it off well with top I had on underneath, I will try it open. Great idea to wear the cardi over a coat
Could ypu use poppers at the waist instead of tying it.
That’s a good idea, thank you
What is the name of the jumpsuit pattern that you referred to in this video?
I think it was the Seachange Jumpsuit from Pattern Emporium
Curious about your UK terms; American follower here; Do you refer to “twirling” as a “muslin” ie, a “practice fitting garmet” that you make prior to sewing garments in an expensive fashion fabric?
A toile is a muslin. I believe the word is French in origin. I have noticed a few of the UK, sewist use toiling as a verb. interesting how close and how different our English is.
Interestingly I was taught the word “muslin” by my mum, but “toile” seems to be more popular here now.

Thank you Kelly, yes I think you’re right about a lighter fabric
For the cardi maybe a brighter color shirt underneath and dont tie it, leave it open
I think you’re right, that’s probably how I’ll end up wearing this one

Yes, I think because the fabric is so thick it sticks out more than it should and adds extra width to my hips. Thank you for your lovely comments
