  • Now this isn't for everyone, but Dagan loves it! He has used a BASS wah instead of a regular guitar wah pedal for YEARS and in this video he explains why you should give one a shot too! If you want to blow minds with the intensity of your Wah'ing, then you should seriously consider using a Bass Wah!

      Dumb question but compared to the other wahs you've owned/played does the bass wah used on guitar sound "normal"? (Compared to guitar wahs) because I want one for both but I don't have enough money for two good wahs

    • @mattbehr1136
      @mattbehr1136 4 месяца назад +2

      Not a dumb question! Over the sweep of pedal travel there is a narrow band where it sounds fairly close to a regular guitar wah pedal and I use it as such. But layered over that is sort of a "woosh" sound that I like to set up feedback or ambiance. It's definitely different, and it's drawn some good reviews from my band mates and others. But if you are not going for "different" then I recommend you find a regular guitar wah that fits your needs. For what it's worth, all of my previous wah pedals were made by Dunlop too. Good luck!

      @@mattbehr1136 Thanks man! All I want is a nice wah to use while soloing, typically with lots of distortion, that also checks all the boxes with bass, because pedals are expensive and I don't have the funds for two pedals. I think I'll act on the bass wah eventually. I've been saving up for a nice pedal now, so it all works out!

    I've recently moved to Kemper stuff so I'm not sure where my wah game is heading, now I use the wahs on the Kemper but for the longest time my absolutely favourite pedal of any kind was, still is, the Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah. That is my only desert island pedal. I bought it for the auto return function but it sounds aboslutely phenomenal and I've used it on the bass setting most of the time. It's my favorutei wah sound and in this demo the Dunlop Wah sound very very similar.

    I use to play bass now I have a epiphone les paul. I recently found my bass wah and once again Dagan has the answer to my guitar questions. Plus I'm a huge HIM fan and did not know Linde used one. Oh also I've always loved that it's spring loaded it's just easier. Thanks Dagan 🖖

    I don't have a bass wah, but I do have a helix, and this is why I prefer it. Not only can you choose from several wahs, but you can adjust the sweep, q, and overall intensity parameters quite easily. I like to set the heel position super low so it's almost inaudible on a guitar and as you sweep upwards, you get a substantial volume boost which is awesome for making the wah more vocal like. Great video, I've been trying to get my main student to try this but he's not quite understanding what I'm getting at... Yet.

    I've been leaving comments everywhere on how excellent bass wahs are for at least the last year! 😃When I was searching for a wah, I really wanted one with a pre-wah fuzz, and despite how great fuzzes and wahs are together, there were surprisingly few fuzz wahs (especially in production). So I ended up trying Justin Chancellor's signature JCT95 and absolutely loved it! Two great wah modes that both sound amazing on guitar, and a "bass" fuzz that is one of the best fuzzes I've tried!
    I've also tried a guitar through a Fender Rumble at stores and it is one of the best clean tones I've tried and the distortion is easily in my top 10, maybe top 5. So I feel "bass" gear often makes great, perhaps some of the best, guitar gear. It's like bassists found the best gear for all types of guitars and labeled them "bass" to discourage guitarists from buying it all up! 😅

    I got this thing and it sounds perfect for what I do with it but I don't thing there is a wah to lower the spring tension!
    The thing is that in some passages, I have to step to 16th notes and it's super tricky to do consistently because the spring is so strong.
    Anyone have a solution?

    …just to offer a testimonial to everyone here… I am primarily a bassist, and have had this Dunlop CryBaby Bass Wah Mini (though, others, as well) for a number of years (I actually have 2 of them… one for bass, the other for my guitar board).
    On *rare* occasion, I fill in for some bands supporting rhythm guitar. I have used this exact Wah fir my guitar setup, and it’s *awesome*.
    I won’t link it here; I am not a YT content creator and don’t ’need’ the views, but if ever anyone is curious, I do have a video of a past guitar pedalboard where you’ll see this wah.
    As always, THANKS, Dagan, and cheers, all.
