Those of you who said served those people that were actually victims here right are exactly what’s wrong with humanity and society. This just happened to me earlier today. I’m a solo traveler, first time traveling to London knowing no one else. I rely on phone to know if I was heading to the right direction of my destination (because I don’t travel on luxury using taxi or Uber and I enjoy walking to experience as many different places as possible) and recommendations for different things based on my current location. Not everyone that is looking at their phone is scrolling social media. I ran multiple streets to chase the criminal on the bike while I was crying because I don’t have a backup of my phone. Because of this I actually booked a flight to go back the day after and canceled the rest of my trip because I don’t feel safe in London anymore. It was bright day light and I was just walking on the street not even crossing the road. I swear I’ll never visit London anymore. I thought I had to worry more in Paris but turned out London was the one. Before this, I thought if I ever want to move out of the US I might do London, now this city will forever be the worst place that I’ve ever been.

There are several MPs in this country whose sympathies lie more with the thieves and criminals than an honest " British " way of life. These creatures will ameliorate and modify any laws passed that they consider too harsh and severe usually against their constituents. Together with a greedy money grubbing legal industry ( I refuse to label these parasites with the name " profession " ) they have denuded the Police of most of their capacity for a freedom of action. The end result is a Police force that is nearly paralysed with fear to do their jobs and a society that is scared , and worried about crime and their personal safety especially the older people .How do you fix this problem? I think public hangings of miscreants is rather harsh, ( lol ) but we could start with curbing the activities of the legal filth and give the Police back their facility to do their job , unencumbered with the fear of spurious, specious criticism of their actions.

@@djangorheinhardt That's just complete nonsense. You clearly are living in a fantasy world. Yes, there is a problem with crime, but look at actual research done on punishment vs prevention vs recividism, and you'll see that what you're saying has zero effect on crime. In Malaysia, people get the death penalty for selling drugs. Does that mean there's no drug trade? Hell no! Actually, because of the high risk, the drug prices are WAY higher, dealers make way more money, they are pushed further underground, and the police have an even harder time dealing with the problem.

Here’s some tips to prevent this happening to you:
    Phone Settings
(I have an iPhone so other users will have to find equivalent settings)
    1. Require passcode/FaceID before turning on Airplane mode - When thieves snatch your phone, they’ll immediately put it on Airplane mode to stop you from tracking it.
    2. Enable ‘Find My iPhone’ on iCloud - If your phone is snatched, you can track, mark as lost or stolen and erase the phone remotely. DO NOT EVER remove you stolen device from your iCloud account. Once you do they can gain access.
    3. Have passcodes/FaceID set up for all your apps, everything. You can never be too careful.
    4. Use an alphanumeric passcode instead of a 4-digit pin.
    5. Have a working backup phone available somewhere safe. This is really helpful should the worst happen.
    6. Regularly backup your phone and all your app data, like whatsapp chats, photos etc.
    7. Get phone insurance.
    8. Set two-factor authentication for all email accounts and any apps that allow you to.
    When you’re out and about
    1. Keep your phone hidden at all times. Do not carry your phone in your hand.
    2. I do not recommend wearing headphones while outdoors. You can’t hear people coming up behind you and you advertise that you have a phone on you. You become an instant target. If you have to, make sure they are discreet and allow you to hear the noise of your surroundings.
    3. Keep bags tightly wrapped around you. Thieves want to be in and out quickly. Having a bag tightly wrapped creates too much resistance.
    4. Before using your phone, look around you to see who’s in your vicinity. Only use phone when safe.
    5. Try not to walk too close to the roadside of the pavement.
    6. Do not have your phone out on the table in coffee shops etc. These thieves will go in and grab them. They don’t care! It’s free money to them.
    If your phone is snatched
    1. Enable lost mode and erase mode on iCloud ‘Find My’ by logging into to iCloud.com/find. If a passerby is kind enough, ask to use their phone to do this using their internet browser.
    2. Report your phone stolen to your network carrier. They can blacklist the IMEI of the phone to put off potential buyers for your phone.
    3. If your phone is snatched, keep your eyes on them and see where they go. Try to remember any distinctive features, clothes. Try to remember what roads they go down to make their exit etc. This is very useful to the police.
    4. Report the theft to the police.
    5. Change your passwords - Consider using a password manager like Dashlane. You should never use the same passwords for everything.
    6. Call banks and reset any banking apps.
    7. If your phone is snatched, keep your eyes on them and see where they go. Try to remember any distinctive features, clothes. Try to remember what roads they go down to make their exit etc. This is very useful to the police.
This is all I can think of right now, but I hope this helps. Hopefully, you read this before anything bad happens.

Well, I personally absolutely hate the mobile phone culture that has descended on humanity like a plague from outer space. But everything breeds something else. We now have a subculture of mobile phone thieves, snatching people's mobiles from their hands. This happened yesterday as a friend and I were having lunch at the Artemis café London Road. We didn’t see the snatch, but a girl ran past us screaming. The thief was no longer visible. I felt very sorry for her. Possibly a new student at the local South Bank University. But whilst I feel very sorry for her, at the same time I feel people who walk around texting and paying no attention to what's happening around them are making themselves an easy prey for these criminals. At 5.23 you see a scene exactly like the one we witnessed yesterday.

I managed to shake him off, turned around, and what do I see? A masked guy on a bike with his partner-in-crime on another bike. The phone's on the other side now, so these bike bandits pull a quick reverse and pedal off towards the bridge. Wild, right? 🚴‍♂️

Your stealing a phone worth £1250 each just to get paid £500 for three and the dealer sells it for twice which im sure still wont come up to the original price. Thats very stupid when it could be done in anther way ...shows the iq of these type of ppl. At the end the big companies win because most ppl have these phones on contract not pay out right ...so again the 1% wins..the ppl making excuses for these criminals..wait until it happens to you and see how you feel.

I would like to thank the black community to our society.
Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbours, lending testimony to their family values and parenting skills.
Their child-rearing practices and skills mixed with their unparalleled work ethic are second to none. Their rationale and logical thought toward circumstances coupled with their innate capability to de-escalate situations is to be envied. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are driven by the mix of Africans & Jamaicans into an area due to their caring and respectful nature of these communities, their hard work and a self-reliant nature.
Without their industrious and creative drive, we would be poorer as a nation.
