The stage play arc was what made me realize I’m tired of those “mild and timid” romantic interests with tired eyes. I love Kana cause she’s both real but hiding herself with her teasing words and harsh actions and I love it! She’s thoughtful and passionate and I ship her with Aqua so much!
To me, Kana is just the most "real" character in the story. Her struggles are things we, in some form, experience and that makes her relatable and easy to root for. And I don't mean that in the self insertion kind of way. As an example: "Acting is my form of revenge" is badass, sure, but relatable? Not really. Can I feel it personally? No. "Someone I'm very close to AND secretly have a crush for suddenly started ignoring me after getting into a relationship." Okay, I have an idea of how that might feel like. Sucks, hope you can make up. It's just easier to feel how she feels and want to see her be happy. That, and she's just the cutest!
To me its because shes so relatable to me (i kin her lol) . As someone who grew up always being told that im talented , but when reality hits you and you realized that youre not a genius , is so real and raw with kana . Also the struggle of being the best with the stuffs that you love but youre not talented at it , can be frustrating. I love kana is not easy to break . Shes so strong, despite of her sad backstory. This is why i love her so much.

Everyone of course has their own charm, but I like Kana the most because of how she handles herself and her growth throughout the manga. Even when stuff gets hard, she somehow pulls herself through. Aqua knows this about her, and even when the initial news of the VAGUE SPOILER scandal drops VAGUE SPOILER ENDS, he knows she'll be able to handle herself without him. Almost every main character admires Kana as she is the most reliable and honest of the bunch. She tries her best and cares more about the happiness of others than her own, and her character stands alone from the main cast as she's not just the ship or the best friend, or the comedic relief. I root for her because she's just her, not because of her connection with Aqua or anything else. At the end of the manga, I would like to see her happily pursuing her dreams more than anything.
Normally I hate off-screen character development, but in episode 3 I completely accept who she is. She realizes she was a problem and worked hard to become better. True. In a story of lies, she's the most real character. Akane, is a very good actress even capable on perfect imitation of Ai. And that, is what i hate about her, she rarely shows her true self. While Ruby and Aqua might be having so many secrets, it's understandable because it's a concept that can never be explained and the society would cast them out. Mem cho certainly is a good character but she has little to no character depth and peope only see her as a comedic relief. Ai, is a mysterious one, we've known so much about her that actually we've known very little. Her facade is impeccable and like Akane, she rarely show her true self. But there's something different about her and Akane, Ai's persona is her own making while Akane only copies and adapt to benefit herself. Overall though, Arima Kana is the best girl and character of the series.
That's the thing right. People say that Akane is the perfect Ai copy, when in fact Kana also exhibit subtle Ai traits that Aqua clearly is picking up on slowly. Ai showed frugality as a mother. Kana showed frugality by raising herself and hating taxes. Ai pushed Ruby and Aqua towards their ambitions. Kana pushed Aqua to just continue acting despite him hates acting. Etc. I haven't seen Akane break down Aqua's walls. The way he talks to Ruby and Kana is more authentic than how he approaches Akane, he sometimes even raises his voice and super slightly lose his cool because he's more free with his sister and Kana.

It's not like she has to copy paste Ai's eyes and personality traits to her. She already resembles Ai in her own way. Kana already has her own sort of star in her eyes. Instantly earned a new sub. Ever since I started this series about 2 years ago, Kana has been my favorite since the introduction. I don't get why people don't like her. Ya I understand why people might like Akane but its only beacsuse of the position Akane was in, if it wasn't for that and her devotion to help Aqua find his father, people would most likely toss her to the side as another side character. While Kana like you mentionee has probably the best overall character growth in the series followed by Aqua then Akane. She is just all around such an amazing charcter and with this new arc coming around, we'll probably get to see Kana shine ever brighter than she ever did before!

Plus she barely has character, Kana does. She didn't look like the same Akane from the beginning of LoveNow after the change.
Kana characters had grown so much from her character in early story and I’m really love how Aka sensei wrote her character development tbh. Aka sensei not just developed her character in one arc instead by building it up each arc. Kana is the best! (although i am pretty sure my desire tp protecc this broken girl and see her happy played a big role in it. I think its easy to make these types of characters be easy to root for ). Her first concert in the idol group was the peak for me. 2.5D arc i didnt like as much. But the resolution to scandal arc was also a wonderful development.

For me he want to trigger the public curiosity about his father identity and based on that the media and public would create a speculation about him that's why he reveal Ai secret in the first place. Also I think he want to humiliate and ruin his father reputation first if people know his identity because when Ai passed away people only smear on Ai reputation rather than sympathise with her and her cased was closed like that even though the police had speculate there was other people who have connection with Ai murder. His father also a respected guy in entertainment industry consider director Kindaichi the director of Akane theater company also know him because he is a great actor and had his own production company.
Kana and Ai both have something that shines so bright in them, that's why they're my favorite characters, also Kana has a really good character development which really brings her character more soul, honestly Kana is the only sane person I see in Oshi no Ko, she acts and adapts as per the environment, she's talented as well, I'm looking forward for season 2 now

Kana is like the spoiled brat who thought her given skills was enough for a entertainment team. She is probably one of our most reliable characters especially for those that are in the idol industry.
Arima Kana maybe the best character, but I'm a psycho that loves Akane the most along with Ai (hooray for mentally ill characters). Honestly, Kana is a great character and I can see how people enjoy the character and like he, she's so easily likeable since Aka Akasaka is such a great writer, he's probably writing a second bible somewhere out there and another series. Back to the point, how can you hate Kana? The answer is you can't. She mirrors so much how it would be for people to develop and present individuality. People feel for her and sometimes they might even see themselves in a similar situation, overall Kana feels real, feels human.
While we're on the topic of characters, i think it's interesting how Mem's presence in the story mirrors her presence in her work. She legitimately is the "easy to work with" person who Kana tried to be for so long.
What I'm looking forward to the manga is Shiranui Frill and her role in the manga. Mem-Cho reminds me of Yoshi in Nagatoro for some weird reason. Akane is a good chara with nice attributes, but she could not be compared to Kana in terms of complex personality and chara development. Also, Chapter 116 is out.
I think Frill is just chilling as a friend of Ruby I just want to see more of her in general, she already grew into my third favorite character in the show after being back for just a few chapters.
I think Frill is close friends of Kamiki I mean the one who text her to choose Ruby to play Ai is Kamiki I mean the pfp of the person who text her is a liquor bottle. Also isn't he killed Yura katayose his drinking buddy. But it's just my wild thoughts don't take it seriously
I want to like Kana more but I hate love triangles and because of that I don't really care when it comes to kana and akane or even aqua and when it comes to that moments. I love akanes and kanas rivalry in acting but sort of turn off when the rivalry is about aqua instead, I like seeing her with ruby and mem-cho they are adorable and amazing idols but I guess the whole love triangle thing killed it for me on my first read. I might try again to see if I can make her character grow more on me
I’m more of an Akane fan myself but Kana is also one of my favorites too, both are well written and even though, Kana’s personality is more complex and mostly relatable to struggles of love, Akane is also relatable to me by being blind to love and trying to help whatever your partner is doing, I both like them but there’s just something about Akane that makes me a fan of her more than Kana, but still, Kana is a really good character, so does Akane. Spoilers: Chapter 116, Akane finally got back to the world after a heart broken result of breaking up, She is now actually trying to help Aqua by stopping his plan, I’m really into the conclusion of this arc.
I love chapter 116 Akane more. She finally become brighter and come to her sense which is good for her own mental health. I hope she never going back to the dark path again and cherish her own life
as a manga reader since the 1st episode of teh aniem and re-reading every detail since ep.3 is out..PERFECT TIMING INDEED!!! KANA BEST GIRL!! everyone is the best but as an aspiring actor/actress and join small school plays that our class did (alognw ith voice acting on teh sidelines online and irl for fun) I do appreciate the hardwork of the character to feel grounded
As others have said here, others love Kana because she is super genuine. There's always something endearing about a character built on redemption, you can't help but root for her after all she's been through. Sure, her ways of coping (self-sabotaging, deliberately choosing to be out of a spotlight DESPITE her talents..) are unhealthy af but a lot of people can relate to those traits. There's a reason why Aqua is so endeared to her, she really is his idol.
Me going in the comments section to be a contrarian kana for the attention. But really do I do enjoy Kana Arima. I appreciate her trying her best despite being alone and stuck having to go through the entertainment industry by her lonesome. And thanks to Aqua Ruby and Strawberry she has others now.

In one of the chapters she said “Aqua is smitten by Kana and I don’t know why he chose to date me” I think it’s her character that’s similar to Ai, she inspires people to enter the entertainment industry just like how Ai inspired Ruby to become an idol. It’s her unique way of becoming versatile and strong personality that’s why Aqua fell for her is what I believe. The differed between Kana and Akane is that when Akane was roasted hy the media she was willing to give up her life while Kana fought with will power and didn’t need Aqua saving her. I really admire her character and development but best girl-wise I think Memcho contributed a lot to B-Komachi and that’s why I lover her.

I feel like Kana most resembles Ai because in the first episode we see a little clip when Ai first became an idol she told Saitou that she cannot be an idol because she cannot love her fans and talks low about herself not being able to become an idol. Even though Kana can love her fans she still talks low about herself like Ai when Ai was first chosen to be an idol that's what I see in her and that's my opinion.
Ignoring the "Hey Aqua. What would you do if your mommy died?" Kana's character is definitely refreshing compared to all the dark stuff going on between the twin's lives, Akane, and the other struggling actors and characters. She has her struggles like many others, but she has resolve to do what needs to be done and what she wants to do with her life. She feels incredibly real unlike Mem-cho and Ruby, and it makes her feel relatable and loved by many. The only thing that sucks about her character is how unrealistic her relationship with Aqua is. Aqua does so much for her, and she can barely give him a thank you. Akane at least promises to help him kill his father to thank him for saving her life, but Kana, who Aqua essentially sacrificed his life for, doesn't do anything, and in fact just makes his life even harder to pursue her dreams while leaving him in the dust. Pretty terrible thing to do, even if the man was trying to use you.
But to begin with Kana also doesn't asking for his help that's why many people questioning what Aqua motive in the first place. Plus Kana is a independent person because she always do and surviving on her own without asking help from other since she was 6 years old, that's why she never open about her problem to other B Komachi member because she so used to dealing with things on her own.

Instantly earned a new sub. Ever since I started this series about 2 years ago, Kana has been my favorite since the introduction. I don't get why people don't like her. Ya I understand why people might like Akane but its only beacsuse of the position Akane was in, if it wasn't for that and her devotion to help Aqua find his father, people would most likely toss her to the side as another side character. While Kana like you mentionee has probably the best overall character growth in the series followed by Aqua then Akane. She is just all around such an amazing charcter and with this new arc coming around, we'll probably get to see Kana shine ever brighter than she ever did before!

Kana characters had grown so much from her character in early story and I’m really love how Aka sensei wrote her character development tbh. Aka sensei not just developed her character in one arc instead by building it up each arc. For me I just love long term storytelling and development like this because it’s really pay off with her great character development tbh
I just love how strong kana is. When she had break down and thought that her life on entertaiment industry is done. She lift herself up alone. It just shows how amazing and how strong she is every other character probadly couldnt get back from that low point alone. But Kana is just build different

Kana is the best! (although i am pretty sure my desire tp protecc this broken girl and see her happy played a big role in it. I think its easy to make these types of characters be easy to root for ). Her first concert in the idol group was the peak for me. 2.5D arc i didnt like as much. But the resolution to scandal arc was also a wonderful development.

Also I think he want to humiliate and ruin his father reputation first if people know his identity because when Ai passed away people only smear on Ai reputation rather than sympathise with her and her cased was closed like that even though the police had speculate there was other people who have connection with Ai murder.
His father also a respected guy in entertainment industry consider director Kindaichi the director of Akane theater company also know him because he is a great actor and had his own production company.
Kana and Ai both have something that shines so bright in them, that's why they're my favorite characters, also Kana has a really good character development which really brings her character more soul, honestly Kana is the only sane person I see in Oshi no Ko, she acts and adapts as per the environment, she's talented as well, I'm looking forward for season 2 now

She is probably one of our most reliable characters especially for those that are in the idol industry.
Arima Kana maybe the best character, but I'm a psycho that loves Akane the most along with Ai (hooray for mentally ill characters). Honestly, Kana is a great character and I can see how people enjoy the character and like he, she's so easily likeable since Aka Akasaka is such a great writer, he's probably writing a second bible somewhere out there and another series. Back to the point, how can you hate Kana? The answer is you can't. She mirrors so much how it would be for people to develop and present individuality. People feel for her and sometimes they might even see themselves in a similar situation, overall Kana feels real, feels human.

What I'm looking forward to the manga is Shiranui Frill and her role in the manga. Mem-Cho reminds me of Yoshi in Nagatoro for some weird reason. Akane is a good chara with nice attributes, but she could not be compared to Kana in terms of complex personality and chara development.
Also, Chapter 116 is out.
I think Frill is just chilling as a friend of Ruby

I want to like Kana more but I hate love triangles and because of that I don't really care when it comes to kana and akane or even aqua and when it comes to that moments. I love akanes and kanas rivalry in acting but sort of turn off when the rivalry is about aqua instead, I like seeing her with ruby and mem-cho they are adorable and amazing idols but I guess the whole love triangle thing killed it for me on my first read. I might try again to see if I can make her character grow more on me
It's sad because their rivalry is more or less resolved, I don't think they are going to have another showdown.

I’m more of an Akane fan myself but Kana is also one of my favorites too, both are well written and even though, Kana’s personality is more complex and mostly relatable to struggles of love, Akane is also relatable to me by being blind to love and trying to help whatever your partner is doing, I both like them but there’s just something about Akane that makes me a fan of her more than Kana, but still, Kana is a really good character, so does Akane.

Chapter 116, Akane finally got back to the world after a heart broken result of breaking up, She is now actually trying to help Aqua by stopping his plan, I’m really into the conclusion of this arc.
I love chapter 116 Akane more. She finally become brighter and come to her sense which is good for her own mental health. I hope she never going back to the dark path again and cherish her own life

As others have said here, others love Kana because she is super genuine. There's always something endearing about a character built on redemption, you can't help but root for her after all she's been through. Sure, her ways of coping (self-sabotaging, deliberately choosing to be out of a spotlight DESPITE her talents..) are unhealthy af but a lot of people can relate to those traits. There's a reason why Aqua is so endeared to her, she really is his idol.

I think it’s her character that’s similar to Ai, she inspires people to enter the entertainment industry just like how Ai inspired Ruby to become an idol. It’s her unique way of becoming versatile and strong personality that’s why Aqua fell for her is what I believe. The differed between Kana and Akane is that when Akane was roasted hy the media she was willing to give up her life while Kana fought with will power and didn’t need Aqua saving her. I really admire her character and development but best girl-wise I think Memcho contributed a lot to B-Komachi and that’s why I lover her.

It's always the same generic tsundere characters which Japan likes to write..Boring. Akane is gorgeous. She should have been the lead with better character development & writing
I feel like Kana most resembles Ai because in the first episode we see a little clip when Ai first became an idol she told Saitou that she cannot be an idol because she cannot love her fans and talks low about herself not being able to become an idol. Even though Kana can love her fans she still talks low about herself like Ai when Ai was first chosen to be an idol that's what I see in her and that's my opinion.
Ignoring the "Hey Aqua. What would you do if your mommy died?" Kana's character is definitely refreshing compared to all the dark stuff going on between the twin's lives, Akane, and the other struggling actors and characters. She has her struggles like many others, but she has resolve to do what needs to be done and what she wants to do with her life. She feels incredibly real unlike Mem-cho and Ruby, and it makes her feel relatable and loved by many. The only thing that sucks about her character is how unrealistic her relationship with Aqua is. Aqua does so much for her, and she can barely give him a thank you. Akane at least promises to help him kill his father to thank him for saving her life, but Kana, who Aqua essentially sacrificed his life for, doesn't do anything, and in fact just makes his life even harder to pursue her dreams while leaving him in the dust. Pretty terrible thing to do, even if the man was trying to use you.
But to begin with Kana also doesn't asking for his help that's why many people questioning what Aqua motive in the first place. Plus Kana is a independent person because she always do and surviving on her own without asking help from other since she was 6 years old, that's why she never open about her problem to other B Komachi member because she so used to dealing with things on her own.
Kana doesn't even know anything about aqua revenge. How is she being useful? If aqua asking kana for help, Im sure kana will help aqua. Aqua himself doesn't want kana to involve in his revenge plan
