I’m so mad they made that a state park trail. I used to hunt pheasants near Tekoa. Ruined the best public upland bird hunting in the state. Cause that Railroad right of way runs for a hundred plus miles.
the trail runs 285 miles through the state actually. while it may have ruined bird hunting it did save a historical piece that has been apart of our area for 120 years, and the last transcontinental railway built in the US.
Did you ever make it back to further explore? I'm curious about the two bridges over Pine Creek closest to Pine City, one to the Southwest and the other to the Northeast. Do you know if they're passable by bicycle?
I didn't get a chance to yet but they are replacing the burned trestles so they are closed at the moment. ive linked below a few great sites that have trail info for you! www.palousetocascadestrail.org/eastofcolumbia www.parks.wa.gov/521/Palouse-to-Cascades-Trail

"Wrecked in the west" will show you video footage of that wreck.
Yea I watched that one before I went out to look at this. Crazy stuff they had to do to get the stuff out!
