I’ve always loved your sushi videos!! I worked in HR the last 5 years and burnt out. I’m currently on a break from work and decided to go back to school for social services. I worked as an HR Assistant, an HR Specialist, and my last role focused solely on state/federal compliance.
Thank you for sharing that! I’ve been burnt out too and am close to being burnt out at my current job. But it’s actually the HR side of my job that keeps me somewhat happy still! It’s the other half that I’m getting burnt out with, and I recognize the symptoms from my previous burnout 10 years ago (it was even diagnosed by a psychologist). Actual burnout is TOUGH and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, and only a handful of people actually understand what it’s like and the rest seem to think it’s just the stress or tiredness, when there’s such a deeper level to it. For me too, the only thing that helped was to switch companies (and fields) completely. Wish you all the best. ❤

Hey!!!!! No better way to enjoy a Friday evening than to watch you eat sushi! I just wrapped up work … had 1-on-1’s with my team all week! I work in the financial industry … my primary focus is customer experience
I sincerely hope you treated yourself to some sushi too after a long week! Personally I hate 1-on-1’s haha. I still have to do them but ugh every time I’d rather not.

Nowadays I just go to HMART and buy their sashimis because they’re already precut to the perfect chunk and I don’t have to think about it. But I used to not have HMART around me and that’s when I would go by this logic: farmraised fish (like salmon), buy the freshest center cut piece you can find, avoid frozen, and for wild fish, buy pre-frozen. There are such things as flash-freezed salmon etc but the ones I’ve tried in the past were garbage so I always opted for fresh if I could find it.

Well I work like half-HR at the moment lol, but yea I do have a lot of experience on it without first even realizing that it’s all under the umbrella of Human Resources! (I guess the other half of my job now is employee relations.) my tips based on my path would be to remember that HR tasks exist in many jobs that are not specifically titled as such, like many leadership positions if the company you work for lets you do the hiring, onboarding, training, payroll managing and employee relations (separations, corrective actions, performance coaching etc) yourself. So if you can’t get a specific HR job right away, a broad leadership position would work as an entry level job too!

I remember another video with you and suave talking about you renting in Spanish Harlem for $1600? Amazing.. how can I find a deal like that? I’m in the medical field and move around a lot for work
Totally, I have coworkers who I’ve coached and have found apartments in NYC for $1500-1700! Easily! Ours started as $2025 or that’s what we applied for, but it came back $1750 because the building is rent stabilized so legally they couldn’t charge as much. It went up $50 this year, def not complaining :) my tips for finding a good deal is looking at StreetEasy every day for months before you’re actually moving, that way you’ll have a great understanding of what’s out there and also how fast they go!
