agreed. was really physical and psychological. players wanted to win and play hard to win. that resulted in tempers flaring and getting frustrated ending in melees and taunts. just the way we saw basketball and grew up with.
These games were personal. Guys wanted to prove they're squad was better than your squad. Opposing players were acquaintances but never close friends. There were exceptions but in the court it was tribal. My squad vs your squad.
FACTS. That's when players were actually COMPETITORS. Ya they were friends off the court, but on the court they were enemies unlike today where players wanna be buddy buddy.
That was a good series between the Bulls & the Suns (93 NBA Finals). Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen trash talking each other, gotta love it. 90s NBA Basketball, the good ole days.
I remember watching the 97 Playoffs and it was so exciting. And everybody laughed about it and that's all...by the way P.J. did a Gutwrench Suplex not a Bodyslam. Today everybody would cry for 3 days and every player would be suspended for 20 games
Not true. It was the most severe penalty in playoffs history up to that point. 5 Knicks players, 1 Heat player were suspended for game 6 of the series. John Starks and Larry Johnson were suspended for leaving the bench. Charlie Ward was suspended for starting the fight. PJ Brown was suspended for two games. The NBA did discipline players back then too. It’s because of this type of incident (and Malice at the Palace) that the NBA started too discipline more with suspensions and techs and flagrant fouls. Too much revisionist history from fans like you.
What refreshing memories - when men played.. When the game had players that had positions.. Point guards moved the ball, played D and got their shot last... There was footwork and hard fought positioning for rebounds.. When shooting the three mattered.. When players stayed with their team for more than a year... When defense was played... Damn I miss these days so much... Welp, back to shoot the three, dunk and demand a trade...
You heard Bill Walton complaining about how PJ Brown shouldn’t have been thrown out of the game. Players from the ‘70’s complained about how soft the league was in the ‘90’s. It happens every generation. Also, there were still Technical fouls called in this video for the same type of plays in today’s league. People exaggerate about today’s lack of physicality and fouls. I’ve been watching bball since ‘91. Technical fouls are the biggest difference from then ‘til now. The rest of the fouls have not changed that much. It’s the ‘80’s transitioning to the ‘90’s that the physicality changed the most.
The good old days when it was real sports Real Man
miss old nba back then 😢
ya me to

Exactly! Nowadays, they know if they lose, they can just be traded to a better team the next year.

love the funny interplay between Snapper Jones and Bill Walton... LMAO
Nothing better than the street fights between NY and MIA!

Broooo 4:27 how bad are YT Guidelines when u gotta censor a punch from a basketball game in 1995.
I know it’s a shame they age restricted/deleted many of my videos or even gave me a strike once for old school bball fights. So lame

That was awesome.
Mark Aguire was one of my favorites. He was awesome on the Mavericks
I remember him and Rolando Blackmon
Charles Oakley wasn't half as tough as he thought he was. All bark
The game at its finest.
Idk how a female ref can physically hold these guys back- as soon as one gets hit it's going to be crazy
Great video, even though it's too bad they're still making you censor yourself.
Reggie is the GOAT of talking trash to the wrong people and getting owned.
no temper tantrums please

How'd they ever finish a game, with all those delays.
My fav NBA era were the 80's
Ewing has hands!!! Damn!

I remember when people actually cared about the nba. Now all they care about is who Tweeted what after the game
Pacers just fighting everybody
Forgot how bad Bill Walton was as a commentator
"Fight" street fighter voice 🤷
