Biggest LA moment for me as a New Yorker was when someone I was talking to in LA complained about how cold it was. It was 53 degrees.

53 is literally cold. It's not super cold but still cold. 70 is warm. 65 is cool. 60 is a little cold. 55 is cold. It doesn't have to be 40 to be considered cold. If your body needs a jacket then it's cold.

As an European who have lived both in NY and LA, I'd say I prefer NY when it's about people. Of course LA has the weather, the beaches, the nature next door, etc. but I found people in LA to be extremely fake and to lack empathy. Of course, I'm generalizing and not everyone is like that but that was my impression.

in new york we have these things called seasons, and they are beautiful. We also have this thing called water that never runs out and is the most delicious in the country.
In California we also have 4 seasons, just that lately we've been going through a drought period, but we still get rain and snow in the winter.

I don't know, I live in LA ,so I guess the only thing that's better about NYC. Is that whenever you are bored or feeling lonely you just kinda walk downstairs onto the street and your suddenly entertained . Whilst LA can feel kinda isolated. But also the energy in NYC can become too much to handle sometimes and the fact that people are in a hurry all the time gives you anxiety .

I found the weather to be oppressive in LA coming from the East Coast. It's so hot and the sun is unrelenting with no cloud cover all the time! I like warm weather but the LA heat and sun were too much.
Well, I’ve never been to NY, I just have been in LA for 20 years. But I heard the summer in NYC is more hot and humid than in LA. Then I think NY is more stuffy than LA in summer. Isn’t it? I’m not nitpicking, am just curious.
As a European living in a big city I would definitely choose New York to live in. It's just much more like a EU city. Public transportation, rushing people on the streets, historical value, shops and bars on every corner etc. From my point of view LA is like a big suburb with 10%-20% of amazingly fancy places which are not affordable for average Joes. I imagine the rest of the city as a big neighborhood with less successful people who work hard to make this fancy bubble more confy for the lucky ones. NY seems much more straight-forward and honest, even though truth can hurt sometimes.
Anyways, both are amazing in their own way and I'd love to visit each of them.

I'm from LA but I love both cities, of course there's a difference between them - attitude. We're Angelenos, more friendly and optimistic, while New Yorkers is very private people)

Both are really great cities, New York has better food, architecture & history. LA has better weather, people, & things to do. But for me overall LA wins!
I don't like the weather in LA either, there's basically no seasons, it barely rains and it's way too hot for me. The weather in nyc is so much more comfortable. I come from an already cold country so I don't mind the winters.

The weather in LA is not good, part is what makes New York so good is that we actually get to enjoy seasons here. Sure it sucks when it's super cold but it's a fair tradeoff I think to experience fall, winter(on its mild days), spring, and summer as opposed to just bullshit heat year round. Part of what makes summer good is knowing it only comes once a year, otherwise you take it for granted

Pretty much in both cities, the worst people are the people from elsewhere attracted to some aspect of the city and start putting on an act of what they think they have to be like to fit in. In NYC, it's mostly the serious af, overly competitive, phony, workaholic yuppie types who are always talking about their jobs/careers and how busy they are. It also attracts some too cool for school hipsters/artists and similar hipster rich kids. LA attracts a lot of fame seekers, either hoping to become RUclips celebs or get into the entertainment industry, and they act out that whole persona, with their similar looking styles, IG photos, talking with voooocaaaaal fryyyyyyyy, acting like they are famous and so popular when they're really nobodies, etc. In both cities, you're most likely to move to areas with many people like this around as opposed to some family oriented area or ethnic enclave, so I think that skews how people see the majority even if the actual locals are mostly not like that.
