Alan is the dad of the 2nd family. Gary is the dad of the 1st family. The 2nd unit director just plucked 2 families off the sidewalk or audience and swapped the dads. So when Alan has his arm around Alysse, his daughter Emma and wife Cathy are standing there off camera laughing at it and Alysse can see that and she’s not creeped out because Alan is obviously just a good dad with a warm heart.
