It’s a perfect desert for St. Patrick’s cookout or any day in the year. Zesty with lots of layered lime flavor topped with a simple zest filled lime glaze. Let’s talk about the texture: it will stay moist And melt in your mouth. You will love this one, I promise!
Ingredients Used
For the cake
1 cup cold heavy whipping cream to make homemade whipped cream
3 cups all purpose flour
2 1/2 cups sugar
3 sticks salted butter
5 eggs @room temp
1/4 cup sour cream at room temp
1/2 cup whole milk at room temp
3 Tbsp fresh lime juice
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp lime or lemon extract
3 Tbsp lemon zest
Green food coloring
For the glaze
3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp lime or Lemon extract
1 tsp lime zest
Mix the cake as instructed in the video, making sure that all ingredients are at room temperature. Bake cake at 325F for 70-80 minutes. Allow to cool completely before glazing.
Mix the ingredients for the glaze and spread all over the cool cake. Serve and Enjoy!

Awesome video! Tip: I also microwave my lemons and limes for 10 seconds if not soft enough I cook for an additional 5 seconds. This gets them super juicy 😋

@@MansaQueen ... Ok .. Here I am 5 months later and I've made this cake 6 times. The first one was just perfect, it looked just like yours and the flavor was explosive and so delicious. The second, third and fourth one's, not so much. The fifth one hit the garbage can before the glaze was even made, and the last one I made yesterday to share with my brother who I see once a year.

My issue is, I think the cake is not cooking all the way through. The top half is cakey and fluffy but towards the bottom half it's heavy, not the same color and somewhat too wet. I've tried cooking it up to 85 mins, (yesterday's cake) but then the top and sides are way to brown and some burn spots on the edges. It was still not completely done all the way through. My oven rack is set in the middle. I drop it and pop it just like you said to. Oven is on 325°. I don't open the oven till the timer goes off.
What am I doing wrong? Anything?
Admittedly, I've not made many scratch cakes till I found you're channel and I follow your every step in the process. Do I need to up the temp of the oven or adjust the rack lower or further extend the cooking time, or maybe cover the top with foil for the last 20 or 30 mins?
I love this cake and so do my neighbors cause I have to share it to everyone, but it breaks my heart to see it not coming out perfect. It's cooked, but the difference in the top and bottom are noticeable.

Here's a crazy thought... Would wrapping foil around the outside lower half of the pan help my problem? Or do I just need to lower the rack?

Is the colour of this cake for me😋wow, this is the type of cake that I will want to eat soon looks so moist and soft. I was wondering if you got this colour from the lime zest not until you introduced green food colouring 😁 I can imagine how delicious this cake will taste.
I use lime essential oil or lemon essential oil well actually just essential oils in my cakes and the flavor comes out just awesome rather than extracts I cannot use alcohol and that's what extracts contain. You will be surprised how strong those little drops of essential oil are.

Key lime isn’t green. Any good key lime pie lover will reject green key lime pies, cakes etc. And how do you call this key lime when you’re using regular limes?
No recipe very vague and main ingredient added ( heavy whipping cream ) out of no where) no detail that I can find. Transcript doesn't help either. Looks great but recipe written for detail needed.
