  • Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin provided a unified voice for the Cup Series drivers last year, regularly communicating publicly their concerns about safety issues with the Next Gen car. They were always on the same page.
    However, this week the two weren't anywhere near being on the same page as evidenced by the Joe Gibbs Racing driver's remarks on his podcast, where he openly admitted he was throwing the 2014 Cup Series champion under the bus for a rule change implemented in 2023 that many fans are now complaining about.

    Stage cautions suck. I'd rather watch a flag to flag blowout with zero cautions than have the manufactured excitement of stage cautions, on all tracks.

    Put blame on the car that has wide tire with less fall off, big brakes, too much downforce, and lack of horsepower. It's not because of no stage yellows. When stage cautions are removed, the race is on, you can't make mistakes like McDowell and Larson did. If those two didn't make mistakes, those we could've had closer finish. It's racing. This is not the end of the world after few lack luster races. It would be the same we had stage yellows. Just look at Road America last year. No natural cautions other than stages. The only cautions last year's Roval had was the debris yellow and stage yellows. It's says something about the car.

    I've enjoyed the last two road courses. The reason being is less cautions means less commercials being shoved down my throat. I would much rather watch a caution free race as opposed to seeing the same commercials 10 times every hour. If you want better racing find a different tire supplier cause Goodyear isn't getting the job done.

    No stage cautions are great. The problem with the last race is there were no lead changes. All cautions would do is make pit stop times the only way to pass. Not to mention the bad wrecks following cautions. Dump the stage cautions and road courses and make the cars more competative.

    V8 supercar series tried this yeeeeears ago, it didn't work, and they got rid of stages and the cautions completely, here comes Nascar with the same exact idea lol and guess what, same results, stage racing and made up cautions don't work.
    Nascsr needs (they won't) to get rid of stages and stage cautions, and give the car back to the teams, like the playoffs it's not working, it hasn't improved anything, it's made it worse "but we got parity" I don't care about parity, I care about the best car on the track winning, and race cars racing.
    I pay attn to F1 just because it's thee best teams building the best car they can and putting it on track, "its so boring" they're racing, they're building their own cars, and the points system isn't confusing at all. It's 100% authentic racing, and Nascar has gotten away from that for gimmicks "we're gonna change 75yrs of culture and we're doing it" is there words...its not working and it's not gonna, cause Nascar executives are not race car drivers they have 0 clue as to what they're doing. Now it's suffering and has been a failure.

    Tbh i don't think the lack of stage cautions was the issue, i think it was the race itself (plus not to mention indy last week). A race in general no matter where it is with only 1 or 2 cautions is almost impossible to come by today. With how aggressive drivers are now it's probably not gonna happen again the next time they go to the glen. If anything it's gonna ramp back up again once the playoffs begin anyway. Plus whose to say that even if they did put stage cautions back in, that fans wouldn't start complaining all over again? So i just stopped giving a shit long ago because of that

  • @seen48
    @seen48 9 месяцев назад +3

    I agree with the no stoppages on road courses, opens the door to strategy. I would say the Super speedways could lose the stoppages as well. For all the other styles they need to keep the stoppage at the end of the stage. Teams need to work on their cars and the drivers need that little bit of downtime to take a breath. Restarts are fun and creates lots of opportunities to gain or lose track position. They could throw in a caveat that you don’t have to stop at the stages to work on your car.

    This is a snapshot of a bigger problem. It appears that NASCAR is turning into just another full body car going to more road courses. The leadership is taking the racing body in the wrong direction. When there were 2-3 road courses per year what was the problem with that? Why the push for going to more road course races? They’re definitely not fan friendly. How can they be when there are many parts of these tracks you can’t see the racing, and having these huge screens to let people see more, then why not just stay home and watch on tv? Just doesn’t make sense. I can’t remember the last race where the stands were full. And in regards to Denny/Harvick, what’s there to say. I lost a lot of respect for him. He will dump a guy and then when someone returns the favor, they are a hack that should be suspended.
