Richard Childress Racing Accused of Threatening to Sabotage Own Driver

- Richard Childress and company didn't have a good weekend at Martinsville, with Xfinity Series drivers Sheldon Creed and Austin Hill taking each other out on the final lap, both of them failing to advance to the Championship 4 race at Phoenix. The longtime NASCAR team owner wasn't happy after the race and made it clear he thought Creed was responsible for it all.
This week, some wondered if the owner might be vindictive and park the No. 2 driver from racing in the season finale at Phoenix. Denny Hamlin talked about that very question this week on his podcast and made a shocking accusation detailing the lengths Childress would go to get back at one of his drivers, including offering a specific example of how he threatened one driver with sabotage.

RCR's image is and will forever be broken cuz of this fiasco. They have exposed their true colors and it's too late for them to control the damage.
And that is a big problem with management everywhere. They'll just sit there and ream you out in front of everybody. You think they do it the professional way and take you into their office and bitch you. Oh no! They got to do it in front of everybody to make you feel like shit.
I back Creed, he did nothing wrong. If Hill was a smart driver this would not have happened. Simply DO NOT slam Creed entering the 3rd turn for about 100 yards, lessoning his radius into the turn and expect Creed to have a normal corner. Feel bad for Creed he had to win, he didn't wreck Hill, gently moved him. All the big pompous driver (Hill) had to do was just go around the outside for 1 corner and finish 2nd or 3rd, and Creed wins. They are both in. But Hill's biggest problem got in his way, his pride.
That also depended on where Custer was going to finish but again, Hill could've helped Creed advancingwhile also helping himself out too

I respect Andy Petree looking at Sheldon Creed s car and finding a broken bumper bar that wouldn't allow the car to turn left. He was man enough to reach out apologize and say he handled himself wrong.
I don't think there would be any apology if the media hadn't caught Petree in the act of cursing out Sheldon. Not professional for a person of his experience!

There wasn't a bent bumper bar stopping the steering. When Creed and Algiar went back into turn 1 after the finish, Creed didn't have any trouble turning to the left there to go around the 7 car. I call BS. Peatree just looked bad and was trying to save face and the company for sponsorships.
You can’t find a single expert analysis of this incident that doesn’t conclude that Creed did nothing wrong. I’ve watched them all. RCR was in the wrong and Creed is lucky to be moving on @@concerned201

I I always was a Richard childress fan because of Dale senior. But now that this has come down, I'm starting to not respect RCRs much as I've once did.
I think that this has been around since Mike Skinner. It’s always been that way a RCR. Even hear it form other men that have drove for Richard

Looks to me from the overhead view Austin Hill turned himself into Creed then blamed Creed for it. Hill had ZERO chance of making any pass. And to add insult to injury RCR shows his real leadership skills and blames the driver he hired and PAID for finishing second. Thanks boss, I'll be happy to wreck the last car I race in and be sure to not bring home a check for you.

True. He thought that Harvick was the next Earnhardt, he thought that his own grandson would be the next Earnhardt, and now he thinks that Busch is the next Earnhardt. I don't think Busch has that aggressive driving style like he used to anymore. He hasn't put the bumper to anyone in awhile😆
Yeah..back when it was easier to cheat, cars were far less comparable, and wrecking someone for the win got cheers instead of fines.

I have always liked Sheldon's ability, see Stadium Super Trucks .. It looks like he has been held back by RCR even though he is obviously becoming a better driver while still learning
RC sabotages his own drivers with the junk cars his shop builds.
Like I've said before. Hope Richard and Petree never win another race. But I hope they have plenty of fixing tore up cars.
And Joe Gibbs hasn't done this several times and it seems like loyalty is a thing of the past........

Has Childress forgotten about Dale Sr. He did whatever he wanted to win and got away with it. Creed is a clean racer compared to Sr. Childress needs to learn to be more professional but i doubt he can at this point. Creed was doing his job. Im glad he's leaving.
If you look at it from Richard childress is point of view. He wants it like it was back in the day when Dale senior was winning championship after championship and he was somebody and was competitive and since senior died harvick left he's had some fair drivers but nothing of seniors talent and then he hired his grandkids which were another disappointment probably to him because they did nothing. And now he hired Hill and Creed thinking he was going to be competitive again and then Creed drops a bomb saying that he's leaving and going to Joe Gibbs racing and that just pissed him off to no end because he was thinking. Oh boy, I'm going to be competitive again and now whenever his top drivers is bailing out. I think it just came to a boiling point and boiled over.
As for Richard, childress, thus is expected from the drunk he is😂!!!!

I back Creed always have from back in his short course off-road days he is way better off leaving RCR. Kyle Busch needs to leave next that’s the worst mistake he ever made.

As a team owner you'd expect more class than that instead of being so childish about things cause things didn't go yer way.
Sheldon did nothing wrong at martinsville all he can be accused of is hard racing and knowing he had to win. Second wasn’t gonna be acceptable at that given time. If any blame is to be thrown it should be at Austin hill… he wasn’t acting as a team player in my opinion but more an arch rival…. The best thing I think could happen for Sheldon now would be Gibbs racing which is my prediction he’ll find his first win… long over do cause he’s a talented driver… again just my opinion rcr hasn’t been up to par since the grandson’s started driving for him. I think it was very childish and immature to ruin Sheldon’s announcement of where he was going by hill…. I really hope Kyle B. doesnt check out on Childress. Been a KB18/8 fan since his rookie #5 days. Tracks he used to dominate he now cant stay on the lead lap in RCR equipment. That def sounds vindictive to me coming from Richard.
But why would he be vindictive to Kyle? Is he still sour from the incident that made him say "hold my watch"? Man, he can't let shit go. He's just like a typical grumpy old man.

Denny was right. Reddick wanted a long term contract and he wouldn't offer it. 23X11 offered him a deal and he accepted it. His right, his decision.

Funny how this time a year ago when Tyler Reddick moved to 23XI everyone was bashing him and justified Richards behavior towards Tyler. I have been a lifelong RCR fan but Richard’s behavior has disappointed me. As a Chevy fan I hate losing both drivers to Toyota but it’s clear RCR is not a long term team

It doesn't matter to RCR what an old Earnhardt and Harvick fan thinks, but the last reasons to care about that team, history and nostalgia, are gone. My guess is that as long as Richard Childress is running the team, they will continue to slowly fade away as time goes on, much like Petty did before it. Doesn't matter any longer as my favorite driver in their lineup is off to greener pastures, and after two years at Childress, will be tougher and a better driver.

I really like Richard because he’s an outdoorsman and patriot but he didn’t handle this one very well. It might be time for Austin to step out of the car and into an ownership role. I think he would do well.

Yes, that dustup was decisive proof everyone needs Creed to move on. Creed needs to prove to himself it's the car or his driving that's holding him back. I personally think he had a car that required over driving and a spotter relationship that didn't help him prevent mistakes. I will know the answers in Nov 24.

I'm still shocked that Richard, Andy, and Austin acted like complete children in public. You would think that they'll be smart enough to wait until they're back at HQ to let all of their anger out towards Creed. Oh well, this fiasco will be a huge black eye to RCR for awhile.
