  • If you have had a few garden failures or you have a black thumb but still want to try growing then these tips will help you on your journey. Based on my own gardening experiences as I switched from conventional to organic vegetable gardening in Florida (where if the bugs don't get your produce the heat will). Despite the challenges over the years I've found a way to organically grow food that yields me great harvests AND is still low maintenance.

That Barbie doll analogy you did was spot on. Thank you so much for the encouragement and no nonsense tips.

When you talked about leaving food for the animals in your garden, I was reminded of braiding sweet grass by Robin Kimmerer. She talks about the Honorable harvest.

You have got that right vegetables don't have any real taste. So grow your own and it you make mistakes just learn from we all have had the problems you have had and will never be perfect. So keep trying and ask questions about it

Floradade and Everglades tomatoes are my biggest producer. When i found floridade i had a dual purpose tomato that grows in summer and I got hooked. I still grow traditional tomatoes in the fall/winter like romas and slicers ao i have plenty coming in to can for the year but those 2 are champs.

I have loads of brown lizards (the invasive ones) that eat everything. It makes me worry that they are not helping with the natural predator and pest thing. Loved what you had to say here, and thanks for saving us all those years of learning by sharing your experience!

My yard has a million too along with tree frogs and roads. I love my toads though, they are my garden buddies in the ground. I still have soooo many lacewings, hover flies and lady bugs that it's hard not to spot them all over. I'm finding their eggs all the time. I haven't sprayed anything including water for aphids in 2 years because I have the flowers to bring in my friends. This year I had a major aphid problem on my noodle beans but I made myself walk away. The next morning I couldn't see any aphids but I did see so many lady bugs and larvae also palmetto bugs eating the aphids. That's something I learned this year from letting things straighten themselves out. I still find the occasional pickle worms or army worm and crush it but usually when I find them they aren't alive because a wasp has taken a chunk of it to snack on.

Enjoyed the video and found it inspiring for anyone gardening. I added the video to my playlist interesting by others which is a library of free and useful information. I hope it makes another avenue for people to find your channel. I also subscribed and my subscriptions are public for the same reason.
