I just want to say that I tried Holganix Bio 800+ Agriculture at Elise's recommendation and can attest to the vitality, vigor and vibrancy of my veggies this year. There were pests, but the plants that survived were healthy. The President of Holganix (a former Monsanto scientist who is now fully converted to our form of farming) also takes time to answer microbe questions in great detail.
When I ordered mine about 6 months ago I was distraught to find I needed to keep it in the refrigerator! Can't wait to get rid of it this fall! Maybe someday I'll have an air conditioned garage!

Yes, the true time and cost of food has been so misconstrued. Its absolutely doable just takes more than most people think. I'm glad your growing some food!
Im in the Land O Lakes area. I’ve been Gardening for almost 20 years. I moved to Florida 2 years ago. My gardening experience here has been extremely rough. The only plants that have been successful is gandules and a variety of pumpkin from Puerto Rico and some flowers. Black soot mold has destroyed my peppers and bugs have been a giant problem. Where can I find your when and what to plant list ?😅 I need help ! 😂😊
Just found your site and subscribed to learn more from your perspective. Growing up dad used fertilizers, compost, and one other thing for the 1/2 acre garden we had. Every year he would hand me the posthole digger and add another section or two to the fence we had. I would go down as deep as I could, adding the dirt from the hole(s) to the compost pile and used next season. I know it won't help you in sunny/sandy FL but may help others. Also recently saw a video out of Australia where they broadcast clay soil over the sand at a farm to help with drainage as well as (my opinion) nutrients to their crops. Have a good day.

They all popped up and looked good for about 2 weeks but I think the heat has stunted them, they are still very small and look pathetic. You can do it! Where they in pots or the beds your planting in to. Depending on the variety it could be too early for full sun. Do you have my what to plant when cheat sheet?

It's amazing how many things you can grow when you decide to turn your urban yard into a garden - given the fact that there's a tremendous variety of edible and medicinal plants and weeds out there (and it's so much better than growing regular grass). They sell them at retail locations. Any hose end sprayer will do though (amazon, hd, garden supply stores, etc). I would suggest the bulk so you have several applications worth. Once it mixes with water in the sprayer the whole thing needs to be used. If you have the jug you can put in what you need and save the rest!

Im a huge fan of holganix, have known barrett from when they created this and only heard wonderful things about their natural biome fertilizer enhancement, and now using it on our garden too... used the pellets and the spray and our fruit trees are waking up like ents from the lord of the rings movies! cant wait to taste the veggies in a month!

Im following your plant calendar going into the fall hoping to have a more successful growing season because my summer was terrible. I was only able to harvest watermelon all my other plants struggled.
If this is your first year growing I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how much easier fall is! A few not full proof but very nearly for fall that I can think of would be chijimisai (just like spinach) or tokyo bekana (like lettuce) or contender bush bean. Good luck!

Fall and winter are good times to plant garlic here in Florida, and for celery I would recommend fall and winter as well, but it can be tricky to grow.
I live in NW Florida (Levy Co.), I have very sandy soil and being in this area I have a great abundance of Root Knot Nematodes. My last season of tomatoes was a disaster to say the least, big knotty roots, very few fruit and very small stemmed plants. Any suggestions ? I planted some NEMAGON MUSTARD SEEDS but less than 1/2 germinated. I then planted some Fl. Broad Leaf Mustard, they are up and growing. I'll mow and till them in. The mext season I'm going to plant Hybrid Seed.
Marigold also helps for 2-3 months if cover cropped and turned in. Crop rotation helps a lot. Add crab meal which is slow to break down but kind of expensive to do on larger scale. Also the Holganix spray does have beneficial bacteria and nematodes that could potentially help get rid of them.
I noticed in your video that all your plants are in shade! Is this enough light to grow my garden in FL or did you just film during a shaded part of the day?
Two fold. I do work with a lot of shade but all parts of the garden do get several hours of sun. Plants can take more shade in summer. I just timed things to stay cool, its summer after all!

Flseed is a seed company in Florida. I also buy from San Diego seed company which offers seed that grow well in zone 9-10. She has seeds on her website. I wanted to get sweet potato slips from her but she only does pick up for those. I was sad 😔
i got all my seeds this year from elise, curated to succeed here in fl climes. I also bought seeds in the big box stores last season and out of the 200 I planted, 120 turned into good starts, and elise warned me that they wouldnt do well here but i tried them anyways, only 12 survived out of the 200 i planted. Grow WITH your environment. get elise's seeds, not the big boxes.. im also looking forward to our first seedclub box! goodluck!
Harvest? I'm just trying to get the darn things to grow. Totally redoing our beds this week. I'm having to go and pick up plants and I don't like doing that. I prefer to do totally organic, non GMO and Heirloom only. Sun Cycle is really not helping the garden this year. I do have my starts that are in pots that fingers crossed are going to be taking off... Central Fl. Seffner area.

@@tammyolis5519 Perhaps slow down on watering. Over watering can slow growth. Only water when soil is dry.

Yes you can! It would be a tiny amount per can but the tool used to distribute it doesnt matter.

Have you checked out a natural farm. they might be close enough to you and grow quality heirloom stuff. youll get the hand of it, just keep trying!
