In Lithuanian culture everything is tied - language, believes, etc. For example some primary words are inverced versions of each other: GIMti MIGti (to born - to sleep), RIMti MIRti (to calm - to die), KILti LIKti (to rize - to stay), GAUti VOGti (to get - to steal), and my favorite - VEIDas -> DIEVas ( face -> god) what literaly means and/or shows DIEVas/GOD is just a reflection or extrapolation

I might be wrong, but i thought that lithuanian mithology didn’t have one god. Is this video talking about Perkūnas or is this another type of mythos? Cuz if im corect (wich i might not be, hence the asking :D) refering to Perkūnas as just god would be like refering to Zeus as just god. I don’t know it just sounds weird to me, please clearify :D

Lithuanian here that loves all mythologies. Yes, balts had the main God - Dievas. Dievas is an old lithuanian word, from what researchers understand that people rarely if ever prayed to him becouse he was not seen to metle into day to day activities of the people. He was creator, who was in charge of other deities.
People would pray to Laima (tr. Hapinness/luck) for their children to have a good life/fate.
Pray to Perkūnas (tr. Thunder) for rain and good harvest.
Unlike the the christian god, this creator god was impersonal. But sometimes did come to earth as an old man to chill with his creations unbeknownst to them.
P.S. keep in mind that are not many direct sources and mythologies differ a bit even 100km away and bleed into one another, this series takes some creative liberties to create a cohesive narative wich I don't discourage, but should have been a disclaimer from the start.

If only the biblical God, were as wise and beneficent as Dievas🙏
