“Salad bowl”….lmfao. I wonder if he realizes people leave their countries to come her for better life. Obviously its because things at “home” sucked. Why would you want to hold on too “sucky” things? I guess assimilating into the new country would take away the opportunity to cry that you are not treated the same as everyone else.
Leaving a country because the political or religious turmoil is too much and wanting to keep certain aspects of your heritage and culture are not the same thing.

@@vi9763 think about my ancestors. They left from europe because their country no longer existed. They came here an assimilated into the new country. They because Americans. They melted into the new country, learned its way, and cast the old aside. I can still remember as a kid being told by my grandparents that my ancestors left for good reasons. There is no reason to hold on too the past ways. They never mentioned “salad” or holding on to what was. But immigrants dont act like that anymore.
