Man I gotta say not only do I love these videos, I love these comments sections. Every video it’s just people spreading love and sharing stories. Gives me hope for the world
Excellent job and congrats to your wife for the expert sewing. A real hand made piece of gear to be proud of. Now just waiting to see it in action.. Take care.
Another excellent product my friend. Having those padded shoulder straps are a must. I chose to go with a Siberian style A-frame but I added extra crossbars. I'll secure my equipment in my shelter tarp buy manieing it up together. Anything that I need for immediate use I'll put in my haversack and hang it from the top of the A-frame. But you have created a work of art! I love the way the pack secures with the brass rods.
Great looking pack! Your ideas & your wife's sewing abilities came together perfectly! Great video with spot-on explanations & demonstrations as usual! Thanks for all the effort put into each video! - Tony 🇺🇸
terrific design and work. Super skills from your wife... Looking forward to seeing it in action...Any chance you will return to that small cabin you built some time ago? Would be nice to see how that is doing. Keep up the great work!
Nice man. I made a pack frame a while back, but without the pack. Am planning a larger frame with pack and this video answered a number of design problems I had. Want to make the frame longer than yours, more like a 80's tubelar steel frame. On it I want to mount a pack and haversack, each with their own straps so they can be used separatly as well. Also want to fasten an alluminium tube ledge on the bottom as I often carry wood out of the hills which I use to make carvings. Thank you very much.
Nicely made. With my pack, I find the key is to get the weight mostly onto the iliac crest of my hips using a wide "waist strap". This transmits the weight through the hips to the legs without burdening the shoulders. You can feel comfortable with weight on your shoulders, but you might find you can endure more if your shoulders and spine aren't loaded so much. Also, I find it works well if the weight is up high so that it's more directly above the hips, rather than low down so that it levers back on the shoulders. Your pack and roll would be too low for me. Things might work differently for you, but maybe these will be useful thing to think about on long walks. Cheers!
I've worked a couple years now as an engineer designing SAR kits that incorporate a lot of textiles, and all I've got to say is great job. People take for granted the complicated nature of planning out and building something out of a mixture of textiles and hard parts.
You’ve became my favorite bushcrafter. Your level of knowledge, skill, and craftsmanship are beyond top notch. I always enjoy your content. From down in Georgia.
You know that behind every man there is an greater supportive partner, very nice to give the credits to the one deserving it. Lovely project to see finished. And as a bonus to see the old crafts still beeing used and kept alive.
Wow, that pack looks so professional. I can't wait to get your comments on it once you have some more miles on it. Thank you for showing every step of every piece, including the wooden frame. Respect to your wife for the stitching, she did an excellent job, flawless all round.
Nicely done. The waist belt and padded shoulder straps should increase comfort over the original. Also good job of reinforcing all of the holes in the canvas. All of the Trapper Nelsons just poked through the canvas which has torn over time.
Shout out to your wife, great sewing. You are a good team. Wondering what the weight is with all gear and some food. Hello from Willamette Valley Oregon.
Great job on that pack. I have my wife do a lot of custom sewing on my outdoor equipment also. Mostly my hunting backpack but clothes as well. Nice job both of you.
Earlier this year I found a cheap enough aluminium frame haversack for 5 euro, unfortunately it came without a waist strap, but this video has given me plenty of ideas of making best use of the existing components
Ive got a modern pack made by like this. Its got a couple extra external pockets and of course made from different materials but still. Great pack, i love it.
You did a well thought out design, and additions of simple fasteners. And the pack sack makes sense too. Altogether a well thought out piece of gear. Kudos to your wife for the expert work. Lesson here: a trustworthy partner is a highly valued part of the team. I value trust as the MOST IMPORTANT characteristic. Otherwise, you will have to (1) spend a lot if time and attention to guard yourself and all enterprises. And/or (2) jettison that person and recruit (and perhaps have to train) a different partner. The Buddy System, where you look out for each other, improves both the productivity and survivability for both people. As a friend of mine used to say, “It’s only critical.” Courtesy Half Vast Flying
Finished pack was really well done. Not only saved you a lot of time but your wife did some excellent work sewing that for you. Was wondering will you be applying any sort of waterproofing treatment to the canvas parts of the pack?
this inspires me i've been trying to make a "bucket backpack" where i can carry a hardware store 5-gallon bucket on my back with the ultimate goal of carrying three buckets stacked on each other but i hadn't figured out how to make it not painful on my back
Are you planning on waterproofing the canvas pack with oil? or is the canvas already waterproof? Beautiful pack--this series has been so fun to watch. It's incredible what you're able to make on your own
Another great video as usual. I'm thinking of making this one of my next projects as it's something I have wanted to do for a while. Will work well with the waxed canvas tarp i just finished using one of your videos and wax combo you said you used. Luckily, I have a steady supply of bees wax i can get from the local bee keeper just down the road from me.
Man I gotta say not only do I love these videos, I love these comments sections. Every video it’s just people spreading love and sharing stories. Gives me hope for the world

Love it! Nice work. Wish I had a sewing machine.😊
Definitely the best Bushcraft channel. You actually epitomize the true essence of the word, actually.
Thank you for the kind words!!

OMG, the brass rods. Very slick

Thank you!
Sadly the small log home was burned by wildfires. Stay tuned for a new shelter series!
What a superb pack. Once again you deliver well crafted projects that are fascinating to see made.

+1 from me for the external frame packs. I much prefer them for anything more than a simple day hike. 👍🏼✌🏼🖖🏼
Great job!

Thank you Mrs. Kusk! You did as wonderful a job of sewing as Riley did crafting that frame.. The teamwork pack! Very nice.
Thanks!
All you need are two side buttons to keep the flap down more securely and weatherproof the material…
Awesome kit
Fantastic
Good job! Especially your wife.
Wow, that is impressive. Really beautiful, and functional.
Hey it looks really good 💯
Thanks for tuning in!
Such a cool piece of gear! I especially like the metal reinforcements at each end of the frame, I imagine the patina they'll take on will be excellent
Brilliant. Looking forward to the action videos later in the year. Autumn camping is the best.
Beautiful pack!! Great work Ryley!
Thanks buddy! Can't wait to go camping with you!

I've been waiting for this one!

Shout out to your wife, great sewing. You are a good team. Wondering what the weight is with all gear and some food. Hello from Willamette Valley Oregon.
With all my gear fit for a summer outing, plus food for 5 days, total weight is 33 lbs. Thanks for watching!
Great job on that pack. I have my wife do a lot of custom sewing on my outdoor equipment also. Mostly my hunting backpack but clothes as well. Nice job both of you.
The best system I have ever seen
If you soak that back panel sleeve in hot water and then lace it up tight and let it dry in the sun it will tighten up considerably
Thanks for the tip!

@@KuskBushcraftAbout how much material did you use to make the bag? Just looking for a rough amount.
