- It hasn't been all that long since we last drafted Duskmourn but I'm so happy that it's back as it's one of the best limited sets released in recent memory. We kick things off with our very first Quick Draft and ended up drafting one of the most powerful archetypes in the format. Real Duskmourn drafts should be available next week!

Coming back to a format, everyone is bound to make mistakes! Even 70% wr mythic MTG beast Paul Cheon can miss a stalked researcher trigger, so maybe I shouldn’t get so upset with myself when I make mistakes.

Love having this set back. Started my first draft back with this set with two black removal spells and got passed an Oblivious Bookworm, took it on the spec, and ended up with a sweet simic manifest deck with 3 bookworms, 2 Cursed Windbreakers, and a couple other manifest pay-offs. You and Sierkovitz have completely changed my drafting for the best. (edit: went 7-2 after a 6-0 start...)

29:26 I made a similar mistake in my draft last Friday. I attacked with all my creatures forgetting my opponent had involuntary employment. That one mistake cost me the game. Those losses suck but are the best learning experiences.
Yo, they advanced the schedule without warning of the premier duskmourn. I have no idea if it was planned or it is actually a bug, but hey! Duskmourn premier back in the menu today xD
I did SO poorly in duskmourn the first time around… but everyone else loves it, so I’ll give it another shot and see what I’m missing

Love seeing Duskmourn back on the channel!! Are you planning on playing in the arena direct next weekend? I know the Bloomburrow sealed didn't go well for you, but Duskmourn sealed sounds good.
Honestly, I might sit it out only because those things absolutely ravage your gem collection and I still haven't financially recovered from the 0 for 16 in the Foundations Arena Open. We'll see though as I can see doing maybe 1-2 attempts at least.
Having watched your vids for a couple of months now, I finally decided to try out arena draft again. 30 minutes later I was reminded why I don't play this game anymore.... Guess I can at least enjoy draft through your videos still.

42:15 The stick twister is exiled due to the finality counter from Rite of the Moth. They could have used the faithful first then the flash backed moth for a second return, but went for the moth first.

I punted a game recently in Foundations where I clicked to make two 1/1s on a Goblin Surprise cast during combat, instead of the +2/+0 buff I needed. Felt bad, but seeing you punt game 2 here eases the pain a little bit. We're all human, and we all make frustrating mistakes.
Yeah was sad indeed but hopefully I just don't repeat the mistake!
@@haumph Absolutely! Learning from the mistake is the important thing. I took the same lesson you did - slow down a little bit and click carefully in the future.
Osseous sticktwister and ossification are both awesome limited cards
i think the cut at the end has to be cult healer, because researcher vs cult healer is basically a 2 mana 3/3 vs a 3 mana 3/3, and the counterspell will have scenarios where it has a much bigger impact than either creature could ever have
29:21 when you forgot to play the Tunnel Surveyor I've made that exact same mistake in this format. When you trigger Eerie basically every turn it sneaks up on you!

54:10 I think I would have pumped the 4/4 and make it a 5/5. Attacking with all or just with 5/5 and 3/3 would have been both fine at that point in my opinion.
Paul, how do you play against Blue/White eriee? It seems to me that its strength are its synergies, so which card is the most crucial to remove?

Quick draft is a strange format lol, I trophied twice in a row with some sweet greed builds and then went for the same thing in premier and went 1-2. Was that luck or are the queues/decks meaningfully different?
A bit odd of them to have Pioneer Masters as the only premium-draft format for a week.
Feels like an oversight that would take a half-second to fix.

I think the reason I hate quick draft is that the bots feel like they don't take signals. They just take what the best card is. No colour ever seems to wheel

Is there a different strategy to quick draft vs drafting with real opponents? Quick draft should we even read signals? I have no idea how the bots act I guess.
I honestly have no idea. This is one of my first times quick drafting.
I didn't and still kinda don't understand double strike, but it destroyed me. I felt as it's not first strike if my defender could deal lethal damage to the attacking creature they should both die and if not it would strike again.
double strike = first strike and then normal strike.
hey, first time i've checked out your channel (heard you on LR). unfortunately for me the draft is unwatchable if you're in split screen, the cards are just too small. part of the fun for me is pausing the video and deciding what I'd pick but it doesn't work if I can't read the cards. i'm sure this is something you've thought about and maybe your normal audience isn't casual enough to have to read cards, but just thought I'd give the feedback. all the best in any case!
I try to hover over the cards longer when the set is new but Duskmourn was a set that came out not too long ago. Also, I like to sort my deck while drafting and the split screen gives me the ability to do this and get a better sense of what my deck needs while I draft.
Foundations was much more fun imo. This one's all over the place with Manifest dread and too many cards that just don't synergize
I'm going to have to disagree as Duskmourn is far deeper and there are far more cross color synergies in this set than Foundations. Totally understand if you like foundations more though. Delirium and manifest dread for example, are incredible together.
