I'm only going to cover mains. Cold-Blooded: Chargers and Gatlings especially, but works on almost everything. Damage-Up: Carbon Roller and E-Liters. Special Charge Up: '89, Splash-o-matic, .96 and any other incredibly fast special chargers. Special Duration Up: Splash-o,-matic, Tentatek, Carbon Tenacity: '89, Splash-o-matic and other non-suicidial weapons that quickly charge special. Defense-Up: Any weapon that serves anti-meta purposes. Ink Saver Main, Ink Recovery Up, Swim Speed Up: Works on everything.
Oliver charge up sucks u didn't have ink resistance and special savor r great and sub savor is better than main savor cuz it's saves more ink and defense up is shit tenacity is good better than charge up in every way I'm s 60 ik what I'm talking about
not sure if anyone gives a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my brother for the last months xD
Anyone else wish you could choose to only have 1 slot rerolled instead of all 3? It would seem to be more convenient that way instead of leaving it up to chance.
I feel like a better Splatoon player every time I watch one of your videos. Then I'll hop on Splatoon, be super good in one match and then be crushed every match until your next video. Keep the content flowing!
"Sea ya!" I SEA what you did there! This video was very helpful! I always wondered why with some gear I kept getting certain skills a ton and had a hard time getting the ones I wanted and a easy time with others with certain gear, and now I know. This will help me save a ton of super sea snails since I now know what gear exactly to look for! Thank you Squidkids!
Thanks for the tips! I had no idea the brand of clothes matter, I kinda felt like I kept getting the same abilities for some clothes but I never knew why.
I didn't know this! Thanks for the video! Who knew Splatoon could be so complex? I guess Nintendo loves adding hidden factors for more hardcore players while still making it enjoyable for kids who don't know or care about this kind of stuff (kind of like EVs and IVs in Pokemon).
When I first played the game I know what they are but I never seen a difference like when you play online I do not see the second ability so this video helped a lot and got me to understand :)
Wow thanks! I was trying to get 3 swim speed ups on a pair of shoes because I use ninja squid, but now I know I basically need 2 for almost the same affect
I love your vids, I do a Splatoon Tumblr blog called "The Strategic Cephalopod" and I generally feel like these videos are a very user friendly way to give awesome info.
I got 3 Swim Speed ups on a piece of ZEKKO bran pad gear. This is a big achievement considering that the 5x chance ability for ZEKKO is SPECIAL SAVER, not Swim Speed up.
You forgot to mention that three Damage Up mains and two subs makes uncharged chargers splat at 2 hits instead of 3, and that three damage mains ensures that even the weakest part of burst bombs and a slosh strike always splats. Just thought it was worth mentioning.
I like the way you told us the maximum effect you can get with special charge up is 3 mains and 5 subs. Is there anywhere I can get this information for ALL abilities?
Sometimes I wish the Splooners wouldn't press the C'mon button at their own Spawn. All of us Squid jumped there, then we lost since the other team covered a lot more ink before us and trapped us. We were winning too but someone has to press the c'mon button at your own spawn.
Whilst I generally love the videos this channel puts out, I'm afraid that this video was rather vague on a number of points. You seem to imply that only the exclusive main abilities are fixed, whereas all main abilities are fixed, so all varsity jackets will have strength up as a main, even though headgear and shoes can also have it as a main, and it is obtainable as a sub. When talking about brand chances, whilst the graphics are different, you call them "ink saver" on both occasions, without differentiating between main and sub. Regardless, this channel usually produces extremely high quality videos, and I look forward to seeing more from it in the future.
+gfjmember In the voice over I say Ink saver and the image specifies whether it's ink saver main or sub. We thought that was easy enough to distinguish between them. As for the main abilities we explained that only certain gear contains those exclusive upgrades such as ninja squid that cannot be rolled in secondary slots. But all the other stat boosting abilities can appear in secondary slots. That was what we were trying to get across.
What are the ability caps for all stackable abilities? I've recently got into rerolling for perfect subs, and I've done quite well. I'm just looking for ways to maximize my potential.
great video! I was wondering if you had a link to a chart or something where it lists the percent increase of each main and sub ability, like how swim speed up is 7.5% main and 3% sub. That would be really helpful!
It should be noted that if you're trying to roll all three of the same ability onto a piece of gear, then you should only be aiming for that brand's common ability. All 3 the same on a common ability is a 1/36 chance. 2 of 3 being common is a 1/10 chance. If you're aiming for anything else, aiming for all 3 the same is a 1/4500 chance, and 2 of 3 is a 1/270 chance. If the brand is neutral (Amiibo, Cuttlegear, Famitsu, SQUID GIRL, and KOG), then getting all 3 the same for a specific ability is 1/2200. Roll for commons.
People back up their saves and then reroll constantly to get good gear like that. Still a 1/169 for all 3 any specific ability, but they basically have infinite rolls that way.
+- ̗̀ Jan D. ̖́- No, they're actually pretty useful. Defense up makes .52 and .96 go from 2HKO to 3 hits, and splattershot to 4 hits. Chargers and blasters depend on damage up, so make that 1 shot KO into a full charge required. Damage up helps chargers kill with less charge time, and rollers more likely to get a 1 hit splat.
Since I'm assuming my previous comment will be automatically flagged as spam and hidden due to posting a link in it... try googling "Splatoon Gear Set Finder" for a web-based utility that can help you determine what gear is easiest to get a particular combination of abilities/sub-abilities with. You might have to go through a forum post to get the actual link though.
I'm currently trying to aim for this gear setup: Studio Headphones (Forge): Ink Saver (Main) sub 1: Quick Respawn sub 2: ??? sub 3: ??? Anchor Sweat (SquidForce): Cold Blooded sub 1: Damage Up sub 2: Damage Up sub 3: Ink Saver (Sub) Blue Moto Boots (Rockenberg): Ink Resistance Up sub 1: Special Charge Up sub 2: Bomb Range Up sub 3: ??? I'm gonna re-roll my boots (because RNG is fucking me over and not giving me Run Speed Up on a ROCKENBERG branded gear, which means it has a 5x chance of getting RUN SPEED UP! >
I have a tip: You know how the sub abilities are random? not really though, The brand of gear actually gives you more of a chance to get a specific ability when you level up.
Lantime Does Stuff I was just telling you that your tip was already in the video - not doing this to annoy you. If you do think that's annoying, you'll have to think twice before posting. Stay fresh!
You need to have Super Sea Snails to reroll/add slots. I just got the game last week, and as such, I don't have any Super Sea Snails. I don't see the option to reroll and add slots. Maybe that's your issue?
I shocked that they did not say look at other people abilities. Every time you get splatted it shows who killed you and what abilities they have. Use this to your advantage.
4:19-4:22 ohhhhh so that's why i always see people run so many damage ups as chargers, i thought they we're just ignorant...heh turns out i was the ignorant one
+DarkCoatVI Defense up potentially increases the amount of shots you would need to splat the opponent so it helps to have damage up to cancel out the defense up.
ATTENTION. Let me give you a tip to all splooners. Press C'mon ONLY if you've found an area on the opponent base no one is protecting. DO NOT, press C'mon because people are killing you because you're putting them in danger.
Thanks for having me on the channel guys! More than happy to help :)
+Nintendome This is great. The 2 best splatoon channels on youtube collab!
Mark Dean :]
hey Nintendodome can you watch my splatoon videos plzz
Cool Creeper 289 Sure :)
+Nintendome hi
would be awesome for a series based on weapon type and the most beneficial abilities for said weapon
Plz do this
I think it would be easier to just start a thread on Squidboards about it, since there its more debatable.
Special Duration Up: Splash-o,-matic, Tentatek, Carbon
Tenacity: '89, Splash-o-matic and other non-suicidial weapons that quickly charge special.
Defense-Up: Any weapon that serves anti-meta purposes.
Ink Saver Main, Ink Recovery Up, Swim Speed Up: Works on everything.

You know what? I've just recently subbed to both Squidkids and Nintendome around the same time.
+MarioMiner003 Nice, thanks!
+MarioMiner003 yay :D
+MarioMiner003 Same! I didn't even know they were related!
Mr. Moodle The Splatoon community is awesome!

2 of the best splatoon channels together! Awesome! Also thanks.
+Skyler Foxyfan :]
A very good informative video! Great to see you squidkids have been using my remixes in videos :)
+NOQQYSC Thanks! We love your remixes! Thank you for allowing people to use them. :)
I always get excited when I see new videos from this channel in my subbox :3

@Alexis Benson Definitely, I've been using InstaFlixxer for since december myself :)
I've been waiting eagerly for your next video!
+Tray Ruhlmann Thanks for waiting!
+Squidkids your vids are always worth it though
best splatoon Chanel out there, its got enough information for newplayers but experienced players may also learn something new aswell :)
+max sippel Thank you! We will also have more advanced videos coming soon to keep the experienced players happy. :D
+Squidkids awesome :)
+Squidkids Thanks for the explination. These upgrades are really their own science.
Anyone else wish you could choose to only have 1 slot rerolled instead of all 3? It would seem to be more convenient that way instead of leaving it up to chance.
+Nintendoman1998 All the time.

I know of an app called splat times and it has map rotations, pre made maps routes, news updates a guide on brands and abilities and more.
Thanks for the tips! I had no idea the brand of clothes matter, I kinda felt like I kept getting the same abilities for some clothes but I never knew why.
I just noticed that rerolling is like gambling you pay so much for nothing
I didn't know this! Thanks for the video! Who knew Splatoon could be so complex? I guess Nintendo loves adding hidden factors for more hardcore players while still making it enjoyable for kids who don't know or care about this kind of stuff (kind of like EVs and IVs in Pokemon).

BRAND, not bran (DAMN IT AUTOCORRECT)
+Emilio “OmegaKirby64” Nardone
That's a 1/4500 chance, you are soooo lucky. ;n; Wish my rerolls for Quick Respawn were as lucky as yours. :(
Another awesome vid :) Good job with the subs!! :)
Nice video, really found this one useful!
Why doesn't your channel get more attention you guys give really good tips :D
Holy shit I had no idea the brands altered rolls! THIS EXPLAINS SO MANY BAD ROLLS!!
+applesgosh It's a 10/99 chance of getting a 3/3 roll of the 5x ability, 2/99 for a normal ability, and 1/99 for the 0.5x ability...
We've all been through this. "SPYKE I NEED NEW ABILITIES these are the same abilities but in a different order...."
Damage up also increase the range of the 1HKO burst to blaster weapons, you can kill without aiming with upgrades like that.
single tear
You forgot to mention that three Damage Up mains and two subs makes uncharged chargers splat at 2 hits instead of 3, and that three damage mains ensures that even the weakest part of burst bombs and a slosh strike always splats.
Just thought it was worth mentioning.
+Shuckster Thanks! We just mentioned a few examples but there's so much more!
+SuperLuigi9624 It's actually the bucket's power that pushes the burst bombs over that edge.
I'm just going to use Inkline-brand gear to get defense in EVERY SLOT.
Hankis taking over the splatoon strategy community
This was a lot of information that I never knew! Thank u!
+snipersev07 Glad you enjoyed :D

Still trying to hit the cap for Bomb Range up. At 3 mains and 5 subs and the 5th went further with suction bombs. Gotta get those snipers on Moray!
I really love this channel and i would love if you could upload more
Thank you so much! I never understood any of this! Also, does any other shirt other than the anchor tee have the silent swimming ability?
Whilst I generally love the videos this channel puts out, I'm afraid that this video was rather vague on a number of points.

Could you make a (Custom) Hydra Splatling tutorial/tips video? I do not find many informative ones.
Question: does damage up affect the power of roller flicks, splat bombs, and inkstrikes? If so, by how much?
This was great!
Have you done any videos on builds? Like, what ability combinations and weapons would be best for certain playstyles?
+Chuckle Fuckle Not yet, but maybe in the future.
What are the ability caps for all stackable abilities? I've recently got into rerolling for perfect subs, and I've done quite well. I'm just looking for ways to maximize my potential.

Love you're channel!!You are amazink ❤️
Awesome work. Does anyone know where I can find a complete list of percents for stacking ablities?
+Kathryn M I have some of the percentages for abilities listed on my channel. I'm going to work on creating a full list soon though!
***** Welp I hope the video was a nice refresher for you then!
+Sage Hane I also like Squidboards. That's where I learned about the damage up cap.
I'm glad I learned that Defense Up and especially Damage Up are pretty useless. I got rid of the gear and made room for some actual useful abilities.
Great video, even if I'll forget this stuff when I play the game. :)
Ps I haven't checked but...have you made a beginners video on what weapons to buy via levelif not please do that!
Ya'll are doing God's work.
Why did Nintendo make the system so complex with all these differences? Was it for keeping the game balanced? Thanks
I have trouble with the basic strategies for combat you probably wont see this but I think it'd be a helpful video.
+Jeff Andonuts Thanks for the suggestion!
+Squidkids no problem! :D XD

+Lantime Does Stuff You mean... exactly what they say at 1:48
but they didn't state exactly what brand equals what, there is another vid that states that.
Lantime Does Stuff They didn't list every brand and their abilities in this video, but neither did you in your comment.
Give me a break
Lantime Does Stuff I was just telling you that your tip was already in the video - not doing this to annoy you. If you do think that's annoying, you'll have to think twice before posting.

Ever noticed that spike eats super snail fishes?
what if you have perfict gear abilities and 1 dameg up and 3 swim speed witch 1 is more effective
ohh cool you got Hank on squidkids. :)
+Rising Eevee :D
Amazing videos
Please make a weapons squid tip video
My run speed is incredible because each one of my gear has it as a sub and my hat has it as a main and a sub!
The strats are real!
3 main running speed and 9 additional running speed IS AMAZING but how do u get that? Is it just luck?
Hacks.
Erm, when I talk to Spyke, I don't get the option to reroll, nor the option to add a slot; please send help.
You need to have Super Sea Snails to reroll/add slots. I just got the game last week, and as such, I don't have any Super Sea Snails. I don't see the option to reroll and add slots. Maybe that's your issue?
You need to be lv 20 first in order to do that stuff.
Ohh shit. I had no idea primary abilities gave more boosts than their sub counter-parts.
Question please, in the video it says that the cap for special charge up is 3 main 5 sub.
may i please know about Ink saver main ability's cap ?
We'll no wonder my sniping skills suck, my set is literally all defense up, ALL OF IT
dose having 30000 coins still work idk
do you have a link to where i can find the cap of each ability?
I shocked that they did not say look at other people abilities. Every time you get splatted it shows who killed you and what abilities they have. Use this to your advantage.
do u think level 39 for me is good in splatoon?
4:19-4:22 ohhhhh so that's why i always see people run so many damage ups as chargers, i thought they we're just ignorant...heh turns out i was the ignorant one
Could someone give Tips for Operation Goldfish
Like good Weapons or anything
I just dont Know what is good in this Mode
I Need help...PLEASE
Damage up makes your charger charge faster? That explains alot
+Dr. Plague I don't think it makes your charger charge faster. It just makes it so that you can kill with smaller charge time.
+Dr. Plague It allows you to splat an opponent without having to fully charge your target.
Oh thanks both of you im actually relieved now xD
At how many subs and mains does damage up cap at?
Thank you so much.Ive been trying to find gear with Ninja Squid for two days!! (Yes I'm that dumb :( )
Kill? Not splat? :D
Can you get ninja squid on the secondary slots?
+Andrea Villanueva Nope you can't.
thanks!
+magic 29 You're welcome!
I personally care about looks more than abilities
At long last!
What abilities are best for the inkbrush?
+Nurno Burno Ink resistance, special saver, cold blooded
Cool thanks
good video
im just really confused wif all dis
So is defense up and attack up useless?
For shooters, Sloshers, and Splatlings, yes. For Brushes, Rollers, and Chargers, Damage Up is a blessing.
so attack and defense boosts really don't do you any favors.
+DarkCoatVI Defense up potentially increases the amount of shots you would need to splat the opponent so it helps to have damage up to cancel out the defense up.
+Squidkids what if you have both damage up and defense up? is that worth it? i use the 52 gal/deco
Why did the creators of splatoon make this so confusing.... why cant we just have perks that give us boosts that we can pick..
Dang hearing all this makes me not want to spend my money on clothes there’s no saving up for main gear
I hope in not the only one who thinks damage up is overrated. ..
Finally! Woo
