Even in a western animated show, the Villains wait until the badass transformation sequence is done
Not on Eren.
@@Bryle_ yea he just punches war hammer like it was nothing
He did say western. But its not like probably they could do anything to a giant super robot. (BTW I think robot, rex,William and amber suck)
And many animes have had attacks in the middle of a transformation but if the plot calls for the transformation to happen it doesn't matter
The Mauler twins knew Robot would present opposition. They were hoping he was trusting and naive - but they knew. They come off as arrogant and callous, but that's compensating for their nature. If they acted super smart all the time their foes wouldn't underestimate them.
The Mauler Twins constantly stall this way to give their enemies a chance to misunderstand their nature - and also because it's fun for them to build a repore. If they went in for the throat on Robot immediately, he'd retaliate and kill them. They were hoping all along to plea to his greater sensibilities, but they never thought he was "unarmed" at any time. It's easy to have his robots be programmed to do what needed to be done without his connection.
They build complex machines for a living, they aren't stupid. They seem stupid. Really they are towing a complicated line that runs on egotism, because when they don't, they wither.
Any time one of the clones finds out they are fake, they wither and decay.
Robot didn't.
They tried to feather this to get him to relent, but it didn't work, because Rex's situation is more complicated than theirs... and Rex is far, far more logical than they are. Rex is logical to a painful degree, nearly incapable of genuine creative thinking. You'll learn more of this in the show - but it's shocking even the Mauler Twins, who actually are highly utilitarian. They've circumvented their emotions and play with others, but Rex.... Rex is playing chessmaster on such a level it's shocking even to other players.
This was more like a casual bout between enemies of inconvenience. You don't want to go in too hard against Rex. You want to look capable but controllable. If you look TOO capable and TOO uncontrollable, he doesn't throw you in jail.
He kills you.
They knew this, because they "saw" Rex better than anyone. They might not want to go to prison, and they need to make that clear... but sometimes your heart isn't in it.
This is why Omni Man's fight against the Guardians went the way it did. He could've killed all of them, but he went soft on them. It meant more agonizing deaths for them, and covered his story, but in a way it was mercy.
He gave them all a chance to show him what they were capable of. Part of him wanted them to win. This is what makes Invincible so good, they know this line and are constantly using it.
When Mark freaked out in the criminal battle with Battle Beast, he turned off all his mercy and went full on. He definitely got trashed, but everyone has that line.
We're seeing the Mauler Twins here. You don't want to go to jail... but suddenly Rex endears himself to you. He betrays you openly, to your face - and worse, he never promised you sanctuary from prison. They forgot that little piece of leverage.
Normally I'd concur with you, but Invincible, if you think about it, there's always a reason someone is stalling or trying to talk - it's not mercy, but it's the essence of living with people who have incredible power. You start seeing people's real lines come out.
Here... both Rex and the Mauler Twins clearly aren't at their best, and it goes sideways, because... there's actually some emotion there. They're all tired, distracted, and thinking of bigger themes.
0:48 homie missed his kick so bad
I think it's meant to be because robot is distracted due to all the sensory input he is recieving
Cut him some slack. It’s his first day with the new body and the first thing he did was watch himself die.

People talk about a lot of things. In the army, one of the hardest things they train into you as a grunt is to lose a human's natural instinct to look to see where a grenade lands after you throw it. Most of the same people laughing on internet message boards about how they'd do so much better if they had super powers would end up watching that grenade land.

Or maybe those two drones were on "auto-pilot", thus not being nowhere near as efficient when Robot has the wheel "directly".

Never make a deal with a hero without taking their sense of justice into account. As soon as the deal is done, they will always pull something like this because it's "the right thing to do"
Calling Robot a hero is... a little bit premature.
@@AreYouOKAni As someone who has never seen more than a couple panels of the comic... I can see that. He made sure that the Mauler twins didn't kill anyone as they escaped, but he also put the guards in harms way and didn't turn off the exterior defences, sacrificing the life of one of the twins.
Add in the fact that the comics seem to be rather... edgy, and I can only speculate on how dark things are going to get
@@Axius27 Robot is trying to be a good person. He doesn't quite know how and despite initially good intentions... well, you'll see. He is a great character.
@@AreYouOKAni Robot IS a hero, but being in social life as a robot that does not understand human interactions... has gotten him to not learn how human interactions work. Morality, altruism, selflessness... those things we attribute to good human people are not expected from good robots, and Robot has been living as a robot during many, MANY years. Him being a teenager is fitting, because he's socially a child that hasn't developed at all.
@@jyousemorenoeng I will not go into any details. Spoilers are the worst.
But robot is not a hero and he is not a good person.
Mauler Twins: Curse you, sudden but inevitable betrayal.
I think they would would have been impressed I mean they did attempt their own betrayal by inputting things into the body that would casuse it to fail until Robot found them in his scan.

Isn't it the same voice actor? I thought it was, they just put a filter and he did a different voice for original mechanical Robot.
Rudy could still think that disguising himself as a robot still would be a good idea.
I can't help feel bad for the Maulers. In this case they're villains, but there's a history of them being targeted relentlessly by heroes ( I think one hero, Bulletproof, assaulted a twin and bragged about coming up with bogus charges to get the twin arrested instead of him.) Even at the end of the comics, when the twins turn over a new leaf, the first thing anybody does is threaten to hurt them. It's a complicated relationship where you can't give them an inch, yet at the same time you gotta be able to understand the twins. Only Invincible came close when he was trying to avoid hurting a twin in grief over losing his duplicate.
( Purposely being vague here because these are big events later on, so I can't go too much into context.)
The Mauler's manage to be incredibly empathetic antagonists
And then at the end of the comics, Invincible almost attacked them, only for the twins to be confused as to why they would be attacked.
“ my plan was not to hurt you… But here we are.”
That’s actually a pretty good retort.
"Look who has a sense of humour after all"
It's been proven scientifically that a good sense of humor is a sign of high intelligence.
How can something subjective, a sense of humor being, "good", be objectively measured?
@@mogim815 Cause it can't, dude pulled this out of his ass.

@@mogim815 probably because smarter people are wittier, they can think of punchlines faster and their jokes are funnier because they make sence. He is probably right
@@leonbriski5929 That's a great hypothesis, but it still needs data to be backed up by, and in the case of humor it is too subjective to collect data on. If you want to prove something "scientfically" as he said earlier, you need more than just a hypothesis that sounds good.
Interesting that while he tries to arrest them at the same time he did technically honour his end of the deal and give them what he promised.
Except the schematics didn't work

Robot could at least have been cordial enough to offer them a 48 hour head start. "Now that our deal is complete, we have to return to our usual cat and mouse plays. But in the spirit of professional courtesy, I will have to report where you are, shouldn't take me any more than say, 48 hours to get that report typed up. New body and all that."

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
Transformers robots in disguise
I do like it when supposedly smart characters actually do smart things.
Well... it's not really that smart to pay the bad guys if you're gonna betray them immediately after and then presumably confiscate said payment anyway, assuming they don't escape. Kinda makes things awkward if they do escape.
@@AlphaOmega1237 the payment was fake anyway.
I love how he had a whole transformer ready to go if things went south.
My favorite part was that Robot kept his brand aesthetic consistent for the transforming truck!
0:57 Rule #1 of being a genius; Always have a contingency plan.
I wonder who in the DC follows that rule, I give you a hint, Robot would have get screaming at, for that silly move, doing Maulers dirty like.
Awww man... I wish he didn't do that jerk move on the Mauler Twins.
Not cool.
I mean, he couldn’t just let them go they’re bad guys
They tried killing a bunch of civilians back in episode 1 though
@@JyggaIag but without them, robot would still be in that water tank
@@lighters5266 They’re still murderers. Sure they helped Robot, but they shouldn’t walk free because of that.
Robot is no better than these guys, he enabled them to escape a max security prison simply to benefit himself to simp for his crush, to the point he allowed several guards to die in the process and screwed the Maulers by both not complying with his promise and turning them over once he got his new body, and we're supposed to be okay because "He's good guy and they're bad guys" no, he really should have been called out for this by the Guardians.
Robots in disguise. :-)
So the key is the entire text of Frankenstein, but which Publishing House, I'm pretty sure they change up a few words here and there since it came out a couple hundred years ago
Prob the original knowing robot
Probably the original. Words being changed up is normally when a translation is needed… you don’t need to translate English to English, and no one has.
It seems Robot was a Transformers fan. I wholeheartedly approve.
I honestly think this fight was shortsighted. The Mauler twins were useful and aided him here. Burning that bridge by breaking his word was shortsighted. Robot should have kept his end of the bargain and let them go just this once. Or he could have offered them a chance to switch sides and work for cecil. In any case, he should have kept his word, given they kept theirs. Give them at least a day before coming after them, and give them warning that the deal was concluded and next meeting things would be back to normal. That cloning tech could have been very useful when the fight against the viltrumites began. Think of unlimited supers to throw at them. The Viltrumites are strong, but there are very few of them left alive and eventually they would whittle them down and win.
Typical hero though, blinded by ideology. Good guys good, bad guys need to be in prison.
The Maulers have developed medical advances unrivalled. Ethically questionable, yes - but if offered the chance they would happily share some of it, and with a few years to legitimise and test the technology it could be commonplace to grow new limbs and organs. But, no... bad guys belong in prison, simple as that. How many avoidable deaths result from rejecting their medical knowledge?
Bloody heroes. So fixated on doing the right thing they lose all ability to think past the next fight.
@vylbird8014 Okay, I'm calling this out-
In this very episode, the Maulers are working towards a subjugation collar which probably breaks several dozen human rights and tried to sneak remote controls into Robot's body.
What on earth would indicate that the twins would help and not use that as an oppritunity to get some civilian hostages?
@@KnightofChaosDeck Because Robot grasps their psychology and successfully negotiates with them. He basically convinces them by offering them everything they were looking for in life. They do pair up successfully in the comic books an the Maulers work for him, as do most people.
As for Cecil, of course he wouldn't trust them, exactly like he doesn't trust anyone, and keeps everyone under careful monitoring. He pairs up with the villainous zombie scientist, so he does not care about the human cost of what he does. Cecil doesn't even need them alive, he just needs their cloning tech so his people can reverse engineer it. That he isn't even trying is ludicrous.
@@KnightofChaosDeck They are hardly good guys either. But they don't seem to really enjoy villainy - they are just purely amoral. When they have a goal, they'll do anything to achieve it.
Just give them a job. Robot has influence. What do the maulers really want? Safety, respect, licence to do science. Pull some strings and offer them a proposal they will accept: Surrender and be nominally prisoners, but prisoners on a work-release program in which they get to spend all day doing science in a well-resourced laboratory, and occasionally some ethically-questionable science in the basement. It'll mean some curtailment of freedom, yes - but if they can behave themselves, the restrictions won't be too severe.
A lot of crimes can be overlooked for the people who CURED DEATH.
Amorality is the same as immorality. Not caring about committing atrocity is just as indicative of mal intent as relishing in it. There's no functional difference. They're gonna do what they want, regardless of who they have to kill or violate.
Little did the Mauler twins know, they're dealing with the REASONABLE version of Rex/Robot🤣😂😂

The brain is important part of the body, and Robot's mind now inhabits the brain of Rex's clone.
Rex is not the brightest character to say the least.
How come the brain so casual accomodated the psyche of a genius with neural tissue denser than this of Mauler Twins? How is it possible Robot did not suffer heavy loss of intelligence?
Or did he? Did he execute the rest of his clever plan based on memory, but was unable to adapt and fully succeed?
his own DNA is in there too, so Rex is more for body than mind
Check the robot punching the air 0:48
Neural tissue density isn’t an indicator of intelligence, it barely varies between people too
@@RylHango for normal people, sure, but we're talking about "off the charts IQs" here. No telling what super biology nonsense is going on here.
@@InfernosReaper I'm a student in artificial intelligence. Intelligence for humans is almost completely software: with the theoretical understanding needed to reprogram brains, you could totally make people much more intelligent.
There is a hardware component, for example in the case of brain damage or hormones, but it's mostly technical details, the kind of things that can be waved away in comics ("science did it").
There are two easy way to convince you of it that come to mind:
The first is comparison between humans and computers. Computers are noticeably less efficient than humans at a wide variety of tasks despite much larger memories and computation power (the latter one is tricky to measure, but humans are order of magnitudes less fast than computers for most precise metrics).
This goes to show that making intelligence is a matter of software, not hardware.
The second insight is brain plasticity. Humans are known to be able to reclaim significant abilities in certain areas despite brain damage, or divert computing resources to other tasks if one area is unavailable anymore.
For example, people who become blind typically develop spatial awareness from another sense, such as hearing, after enough time without light.
Now, this isn't true of all areas, and some afflictions can be permanently debilitating without bright side, but it is still better than major system failure in all cases of damage.

Difference between mechanical and organic
You already explained it right at the beginning of your comment. People specialise in certain fields of study. Do you really expect Robot to know how to do literally everything? He's for the most part, a computer scientist, whereas the Mauler Twins are likely biologists of sorts. They obviously have more expertise in this field than Robot does, so it makes sense that Robot would contract them to do this job.
