I don't think it was an actual place in the world. It was more of a psychological concept like Maine could have taken many roads in his life (given how many lanes are shown), but his journey would end there (at the road's end) with him having hit his limit physically and mentally. If anything, it was subtle foreshadowing for David and V (in certain endings).

    • @ShadowBaneling
      @ShadowBaneling 10 месяцев назад +2

@morganblackhand2020 An actual road with 30+ lanes stretching out into the horizon, and all ending at the exact point Maine is standing? I doubt it.

@morganblackhand2020 Could be. Johnny's memories are what he truly remembers to be true, but most of what he remembers did not happen the way he remembers it.

@@ShadowBanelingIt's actually not *that* unlikely for a road that large to exist. Mega-highways are a thing and China has a 50 lane mega-highway that looks exactly like the one shown here. It wouldn't be far-fetched to assume that the NUSA has their own mega-highways in the dark future. As for the random cutoff, yeah that's not realistic at all. It's purely symbolic.

@@ShadowBaneling I like this interpretation but I never took it that way. The lanes stretching forever is a nice artistic touch and might be exaggerated in psychosis but I think the event itself was true. Maine was the kind of kid who always wanted to push himself to bigger and better things, it would make sense for him to see this mega-highway that runs through Night City and into the Badlands and assume it goes somewhere else, somewhere worth going maybe. So he foolishly himself to run and run and seek that chance of bettering himself. But he does find the end of the road. This is Night City after all, so people got rich building this road; it doesn't always have to serve anyone else though. Construction scams are commonplace in degenerate societies like we have in NC. To me it was kind of symbolic of that degeneracy and contributed to the shattering of Maine's hopeful worldview, which in turn pushed him towards cyber-enhancement.

Perhaps the excessive lanes that you mentioned is a stylistic choice to show that no matter the lane or path you take in life. It ends the same.

honestly with how many locations in the anime are ripped straight out of the game, I don't think it's impossible they had access to some free roam tools, stumbled onto this and used it as inspiration for that flashback sequence. kinda impossible to know without asking the staff at Trigger directly but hey, I enjoy seeing random weird things out of bounds regardless. I could definitely explore myself with mods but I'm a bit too lazy for that and you do such a great job with it I really have not found myself feeling the need to do it.
Hope the trip is going good, thanks a ton for all the content you prepped for us in advance!

CDPR gave them the game version with a map with no restrictions so they can basically visit locations they want to use in the animation. That's why you can find these spots from the show in game and vice versa. It's such a great idea!

Back when the anime first came out I went looking for the area where Lucy and David hung out late in the show out in the badlands. Interestingly enough the area that matched the most was right off the side near the broken bridge west from the Desert Film Set waypoint in Rocky Ridge, Badlands. There on the table is a poem (Death of a Mercenary, author unknown) that has a lot of emotional parallels to Lucy's story and potentially how she felt after the end of the show. I know this shard can be found in other places but I would like to think that the people who wrote the show came across this shard in this spot and were inspired by it when writing David and Lucy's story's ending. I think its pretty cool that it might have been their hangout away from the city.

@SirMZK one time I boarded the metro and just continually fell under the map until I reloaded the game. It was a bit hard to see as it was night time, but the moon remained visible as did the entirety of night city, I was just below it. I didn't see anything but may have missed it

It’s honestly kinda symbolic it’s out this far…
You physically cannot go out this far in game without it sending you back. But also it shows a sense of truth to those that become Edgerunners.
They’re running so fast and close to the edge, they don’t even realize they’ve been running in the wrong direction the whole time. The goal in night city is cement a legacy and escape with your life. Very few do. The only notable example I can think of is Lucy. An ex-Arasaka Netrunner who pissed all over the very same corporation, and managed to escape by the skin of her teeth, even fulfill her dream of going to the moon.
But those Edgerunners that keep going until they run out of road, end of the line, and the reaper is calling. That’s when they go flying off the edge, burning out like a firework. The smoke and afterglow burnt into the eyes of all who see. Until they’re going, going gone. Another niche in the colombarium and another drink on the menu of the Afterlife, most of the time at least.
Hell Maine’s ‘jitters’ could’ve actually started around when Sasha died in the Let You Down music video. He lost a member of his crew because she chose to go out on her terms and see some justice for her dead mother. Then Lucy was found by Kiwi. Finally for David to join last.

Hey, just something that stuck out to me. Read up on the wiki page for Chicago in CP2077. It creates an interesting speculation for a sequel location. Not to mention the history behind StormTech, which was founded by Richard Storm. Kind of interesting how both StormTech and Night Corp have founders with the first name Richard. Chicago has a heavy NOMAD population in the old town area. Creates speculation on whether Panam would have Nomad connections in Chicago for a hope that V could survive. This would make a great video considering we see a sign at Orbital Air in taking a high speed train to Chicago.

While that would be intresting myself and probably 90% of cyberpunk enjoyers want the sequel to take place in night city again , just use the old asset and improve on it , there's so much to night city that was inaccessible it would be a crime not to expand on it , also night city is its own character idk if any other city would stike the same cord , would be neat for a dlc or something but I'd rather they stick with night city

Recently replayed GTA V, just to experience the closest thing to a bigger “North Oaks” dlc, since that was unconfirmed canceled. Night City might have a golf course and more North Oak mansions (plus Casino) when we return for Cyberpunk 2. But till then I think taking a break from Cyberpunk, spent like a 1000 hours last year.

I think you are right, Also, flashbacks have distorted imagery and exeggeration, so it makes sense to see more lanes than was actually there. Speaking of locations, do you know the location of Alt's kidnapping 50 years before Cyberpunk 2077, so in 2027, the alley, that was in Night city yeah?

@@SirMZK It's actually a useable weapon in the game. In fact, many players got her shotgun and David's jacket while doing playthroughs after watching Edgerunners, rocking both during their fights with Adam Smasher as a way of getting revenge for what he did to them (then CDPR updated Smasher to where he's even more tougher and has a Sandevistan like he does in the anime as a response to that action and almost as dangerous as he's suppose to be in the tabletop game's lore).

There was literally nothing in this video about "cut content" and everyone who played cyberpunk knew immediately the anime would explode , because we knew the games world and story are unmatched and the only reason it got any hate at all was hyperbolic band wagon jumpers 😂
