Happy Sunday! Or whenever you’re watching this. Our latest series Desperate Hours checks out catastrophic past events. Today we are looking at volcanic eruptions and devastating earthquakes. You know, because we’ve been so bored these past two years 🤣 No. not making fun. I know too many have suffered and too many have lost family. Take care peeps! Stay safe and healthy. It ain’t quite over.
I am from Indonesia, I live nearby the merapi volcano, when merapi erupted in 2010 its make huge impact on central java especially Jogjakarta region and around that. Maybe people think merapi eruption make huge loss and negative impact but for the javanese people who live near the merapi, we respect merapi like ancestor because Merapi volcano make lot people alive from that mountain. The mountain produce ashes that can make soil very rich and fertile thats why indonesian is rich of resource. And Free Documentary do great job👍👍 thats amazing!!
This documentary is usually something which everyone will eventually like it🙂 Thanks for always being informative Free Documentary 💕 . I hope you earn more through the licensing ❤️
Did you see the damage done by the volcano on the Canary Island of La Palma at the end of last year? The volcano was active for 78 days and left behind a large amount of ash and destroyed homes, but fortunately there were no human casualties.
I love this content! I can't find it to time stamp but it stuck out like a sore thumb when the narrator referred to Earth's "magnetic plates". They're called tectonic plates. Thanks!
I was raised in a certain way. We always have bug out bags ready to go and we live in quite possibly when the safest places in the world. While other people decide to live right next to a volcano and not have any kind of emergency plans.
Nice recent history of natural disasters. If people would stop living in volcano zones and in unreinforced buildings the losses could be lower. Tsunamis are avoidable too but coastal cities are heavily populated.
Praise the god who created life and death who tested you who among you is the best in deeds there is knowledge and wisdom hopefully useful ⬇️ Allah, the Most Merciful, Who has taught the Qur'an, He created man, taught the eloquent. And the sky has been raised and created balance, so that you do not spoil that balance Therein are fruits and date-palms with petals and husks and fragrant flowers, so which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? And He created man from dry earth like pottery fire without smoke. So which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? The Lord of the two Easts, And the Lord of the two Wests, so which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? He let the two seas flow, then they meet Which is not surpassed by each. So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? Out of them come pearls and corals. Which of your gods do you deny? His are the ships that sail in the sea like mountains, so which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? All that is on earth will perish, but the face of your Lord Who has greatness and glory remains forever. Then which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? What is in the heavens and the earth always asking for it while he is busy? Then which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? if you are able to penetrate across the corners of heaven and earth, then penetrate. you will not be able to penetrate except with the power of God. then the favor of your god Which do you deny? can save yourself from it. then which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? then when the sky is split into two rah mawar seperti kiluan minyak.maka nikmat tuhanmu Yang manakah Yang yang kamu dedakan? So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? This is the hell which the sinners will lie about. They go about it and among the boiling waters, then which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? And for whom is fearful? There are two paradises. So which of the favors of your god do you deny? They have various trees and fruits, so which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? In them are two springs that radiate. Which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? They will recline on carpets, the inside of which is thick silk. In Paradise, there are angels who restrict sight, who have never been touched by humans or jinn before. A. So which of the favors of your god do you deny? .so which of the favors of your god do you deny? THERE IS NO REWARD FOR GOOD OTHER THAN GOODNESS So which of the favors of your god do you deny? the two heavens look green in color. so which of the favors of your god do you deny? There are two springs that radiate. So which of the favors of your god do you deny? In them are fruits, dates and pomegranates. So which of the favors of your god do you deny? In them are angels The good and beautiful. So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? The angels who are kept in the tent. So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny? They do not I have been touched by humans and jinns before. So which of the favors of your god do you deny? They lean on green pillows and beautiful carpets. So which of the favors of your god do you deny?
Argh! I wish every show about volcanoes could be checked by someone who knows the difference between pyroclastic flows and lava flows. The former are killers, so it's not just academic! Pyroclastic flows/surges happen at volcanoes with sticky, viscous lava thar tends to plug the cone and pile up in big chalky "domes" that suddenly collapse or explode, rushing downslope in a superheated avalanche of choking ash,, billowing grey or glowing red clouds of dust, boulders, scalding steam, corrosive hot volcanic gasses, and blobs of lava rolling like giant napalm snowballs. The surge is over a thousand degrees and moves several hundred mph, suspended on hot air like a hovercraft so that it can actually flow onto the surface of water • at Pompeii some of the biggest surges flowed out and choked people with hot clouds of dust scorching their lungs across the bay. Pyroclastic flows aren't mudflows, either, although the ash deposits they leave can mix with water ftom a melted glacier, a river, or heavy rain in tropical regions yo make mudflows called lahars. But lahars are like warm concrete. Crucially, they don't have the explosive component or the superheated volcanic gases which are so lethal, because they sear the lungs. Your only chance of surviving a pytoclastic flow is to be in something equivalent to a bomb shelter capable of withstanding the avalanche's force and keeping out the heat and toxic gases. Or, if you're at the very edge of ybe cloud as it's losing heat and most of the debris has already fallen, you might survive. That's what happened to those Montserrat farmers, who weren't as ignorant or clueless as this documentary claims. By that time the mountain had been erupting intermittently for years, and they had a pretty good idea where the surges usually went. Unemployed, desperate to harvest crops, some farmers would sneak into the exge of the ecacuation zone when the mountain was quiet, park pickups with engines running, and tend their fields. Usually, they got away with it. Unfortunately, one time they didn't. I'm interested in volcanoes and earthquakes, but I hate the way this series seems to play fast and loose with the science, and even with events, to pump up the drama and make it seem like people were caught by catastrophes out of the blue. They evacuated Plymouth before the surges destroyed it, warned by experts. They stayed in refugee camps. Years of earthquakes, eruptions, and discomfort had them on edge, but they weren't the mindless, panuc-stricken, clueless brown people the narrative portrays them to be. I've had to stop watching episodes of this series before because the camera seems to seek out and zoom in on someone who's especially distraught with fear and grief. They could just as easily have sought out other citizens toughing it out and showing their resilience and sense of humor in the face of adversity, but this series seems to think we want to be voyeurs of human suffering rather than spectators of the awesome power of nature.
