      @MrSimpsonia 10 месяцев назад +4

      The simple fact is that it could be a failure of coaching to teach him properly, it could also be him failing to internalize that move despite active coaching towards it. We don't know what coaching he has had, merely assumptions. All we know is that after 3 years, he still doesn't have that timing down.

    • @shaunnaemmons1297
      @shaunnaemmons1297 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@MrSimpsoniapersonally I believe it’s on the coaching because, if I remember correctly, Getsy tried to get JF to switch his feet and do left foot back. That was the beginning of the season and it was HORRIBLE for JF because it changed everything about how he threw the ball. I wonder if he’s still readjusting since they let him go back to having right foot back. Jenkins or O’Sullivan talked about this on a breakdown earlier in the year as well, that young QBs who learn right foot back don’t usually adjust well to left foot back until they have been in the league for several years. I believe he said Brady didn’t start that until year 7-8, same with P Manning and same with Rodgers. So maybe that jacked up his whole rhythm and timing and comfort. Now he’s trying to find it again. Just a thought based on some of the things I’ve heard and seen this year

    • @shalomb8557
      @shalomb8557 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@MrSimpsoniaNo, no, no my friend; there’s no room for assumptions here. You said after three years, but there’s no three year question about the left foot forward stance. Before Luke Gesty Fields was a right foot forward quarterback. I know I watched him in high school and college, even his first year under Matt Nagy. In fact Gesty talked specifically about his footwork and how much it improved because of all the work Justin had put in. In fact this is not the first time that Tim has mentioned how the left foot forward doesn’t sync up with some of the route concepts in Getsy’s playbook. Reference Tim’s breakdown of Fields after the Tampa Bay game and you’ll hear his concerns about the left foot forward and the timing on some of the route concepts. Even with all of that said “good coaching” doesn’t allow improper technique to continue over a two year span. In fact the re-stabbing of the right foot would have been taught when Gesty was first introducing the left foot forward stance, but remember Gesty didn’t teach this to Arron Rogers, he was already doing it when Gesty became his quarterback coach and in two years he hasn’t figured it out the way Tim has. Who by the way is a former quarterback himself.

  • @shalomb8557
    @shalomb8557 10 месяцев назад +7

    No Sir. Gesty changed Fields footwork to left foot forward; not Fields. If the footwork doesn’t sync with the route that’s on the designer; not the one being asked to execute it. If Tim (who points it out) Fields would be re-stabbing the right foot and getting it out quicker because that’s the way Tim would be coaching it. Remember Fields statement “it could be coaching” and everyone jump on him about it. Well in this case Tim agrees with Fields.

    I think the decision has to be tied to what they do with Eberflus. If they fire him the next coach should be able to make the decision on Fields. If Eberflus is kept I do not think under any circumstance that we should draft another QB. The next coach after him will be handcuffed to a QB he didn't select. I'm leaning towards running it back with Fields next year but I'm good with a new QB assuming there is a new staff.

    I'm with you Tim. It's trading the #1 pick for a king's ransom and building the team around Fields. I'm not convinced Williams or Maye are better than Fields right now. Could they wind up being better? It's questionable. You just never know. Finding success at the NFL level at the QB position is incredibly difficult. I think the draft cycle makes people prone to falling in love with traits and potential while not realizing the difference between college and the pros. Teams preferred Zach Wilson and Trey Lance to Fields, but who has had the most success? Plus, by securing even more future capital, you allow yourself the flexibility to draft a QB if Fields doesn't continue to improve. The QB contract doesn't really affect the Bears next year either because Fields still has another year on his rookie contract. Next year is the do or die season for Justin as a Chicago Bear. 3rd year in the system with better weapons. I think that's the route they need to take.

      bad idea? The truth must really hurt that you need to have a tantrum. That's an easy pass for most NFL QBs. He needs to throw it up and let his guy catch it. He was open by more than 10 yards. There's another td that he passed up to DJ 13:52 and threw it short to Herbert. These are the plays that make or break your career. With both of these plays, he would have added 60+ yards and 2 TDs. Also, the Velus one could have broke 50 yards too. He passed up on the deep in 10:33, but then velus was crossing mid field 10:42 and he passed on that too. How many excuses for a 3rd year QB?

      It's almost like JF1 ability to run is what is limiting his passing skill and improvement. Where less agile and fast QBs are in these situations they are forced to throw with anticipation more or have elite passing attributes where JF1 can just pull it down at anytime and never has to actually throw that ball to the person coming clear or to a spot.
      And that's to say - can you win a SB with a QB who is mediocre as a passer and may go for 100 yards rushing every now and then. And do this against playoff top 10 defenses that are scheming to take away his strength. - for 40$ Milly a year

      Year 3 is such an arbitrary metric. We all know year 2 was a tank year, so that year was a total wash. The issue is more that we have the number 1 overall pick in a year with a supposed generational quarterback coming out. If we weren’t in this position, Fields would unquestionably be the guy. This is why we are asking the question. Does Justin continue to grow or will Caleb Williams be better than him in 2 years. Plus, the rookie contract; Justin has played well enough for a bigger contract but it’s hard to build a roster after the qb contract.
      Personally, I say keep Justin, keep building the team. I’m willing to see Caleb become a star somewhere else.

Absolutely, because that is how great teams are built. Changing QBs every 3 yrs so all of your talent ages out or asks to leave, is NOT a winning formula 🤷🏻‍♀️ WE provide that statistic, because we have been doing this exact scenario FOR 38 YEARS! It doesn’t work! Everyone be patient and stop blaming the 24 yr old kid for his coaches incompetence. Plus why would we want to draft a kid who doesn’t want to come here? I know people say they don’t have a choice, but they do. Even if he couldn’t decline them drafting him, he doesn’t have to play well or even try. What’s the easiest way to get let go, unless you are a Manning and can demand to go somewhere else? Play like shit 🤷🏻‍♀️ like all these fans assume that CW will come here as the second coming but if he doesn’t want to be here, I foresee a petulant child pouting and throwing a tantrum in any way he can to get what he wants.

      "Week 16 of year 3" is incredibly misleading. He's played just over two full seasons worth of games. Despite basically no development by the coaching staff year 1 and nobody at all to throw to year 2, he's improved every season in completion %, YPA, TD:INT ratio, and passer rating. He's 24 years old. There are more Dak Prescotts, Geno Smiths, and Baker Mayfields than there are Joe Burrows. I'm not saying give him until he's 29-30, but at least let him play out his rookie contract before you put a ceiling on him. Everyone in the building is saying he's constantly improving and continuing to put in the work to do so. The idea that this is the end because it's year 3 of his contract is silly and nobody would be talking about it if the Bears were picking outside the top 2 picks. The Bears fans who want Williams are going to have a meltdown if he's the pick and doesn't lead a playoff run his rookie year while he's adjusting to the NFL.

      If they trade the pick again they will have enough picks to move anywhere they want in the draft for the next 2-3 years. You have to go off your evaluations, it doesn't matter what happened last year. Taking a QB for the sake of it is how people lose their jobs and how franchises get set back half a decade. Williams has too many red flags for my liking with basically the same skillset as Fields but worse size and no NFL tape to work off of. I think Williams would get eaten alive by Chicago media, while Fields is a proven leader who seems to have the unconditional support of his teammates. Fields has his flaws, but you can't move off of him if your evaluation says he's better for the team on and off the field than one of the rookies just because it's what 75% of the fans and media want you to do.

      The reason the QB talk has started is because most Bears fans are impatient, only watch him play, are looking for numbers instead of film and they have the #1 pick from Carolina. They have created the controversy themselves.
      Halas hall is not even thinking about that pick. They are in a win now mode. Fields has won 3 out of his last 4 games in all different ways with a busted thumb and no one is talking about it. They keep nitpicking things every other QB does.
      You want to see turnovers go watch Lawrence, Allen, and any of the bottom tier QB's
      You want to see holding the ball long, go watch mahomes, burrow, allen, Young and many more
      You want to see turning down NFL open pass catchers, go watch any young QB.
      This kid is under some kind of microscope where they are looking for him to make every throw 100% of the time.

    I think you missed one major point. On the play where Fields fakes and heads right, then comes back to Kmet on the left side.....had he delivered the ball properly, instead of under throwing his receiver, it would have been a touchdown. Franchise quarterbacks don't have 2000 rushing yards by their third year.
    Your highlight scrambles also show something else. Yeah he can run. When the scramble starts after three seconds, you might have a quarterback that does not process information fast enough and deliver.

    I've been a huge fan of Justin fields since they drafted him at 11 overall and it's so sad everything he has had to endure with the front office and coaching staff imagine if poor fields would've been fortunate to have gotten a great Offensive coordinator like Shanahan or someone innovative enough to know how to use a player with his special skills like Baltimore or even Philly but he has been through a couple of OC"s who didn't understand how to maximize his abilities so my opinion is that they wasted his first 3 years and in order to cover up the Bears failures and also to put the blame squarely off of of those who are directly responsible for their actions and, who had every opportunity to succeed with Justin fields they're using the excuse that they need to Reset the Quarterback clock which is crap ,because it wouldn't have mattered who was playing at the Quarterback position ! We can win a Title or several with Justin Fields playing as our Quarterback ! Fields is surprising onlookers every week with improvement. His first weeks in the NFL are matching the first weeks of Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts. Justin did this with one first round pick player far below the other team that had five first rounders.
      Ryan will be the hero again in this draft and improve the roster better than last year.

    I really don't like the design of that "Flutie Concept" play. Specifically pairing those routes with an end-around fake to Velus Jones. I don't think they complemented each other well. The defense was able to quickly identify run/pass early on, and the defenders most affected by the action were away from the routes. Something quick that attacked the linebackers would seem to work much better with that P/A look.
    If they had to pass, I would've much rather seen Fields under center with a P/A fake to the RB. Maybe Velus runs a shallow crosser in front of the linebackers instead of the end-around.
    Better yet, with the DE's split as wide as they were, why not audible to a run straight up the middle (preferably to a RB and not Kari Blasingame)? Darnell Wright was standing around with no one to block on that play. It would've been fun to see him pancake that linebacker with Roschon Johnson following close behind with a full head of steam.

      Agreed, I can't believe this was rated a "good" play. It's awful QB play. Clean pocket and you have a 20 yard gain that is wide open with Velus. Easy lay up. Can even take a deep shot at Moore or Mooney who are both in single coverage. Many good passing options on that play. Instead we hold onto the ball for no reason and the OL gets called for holding which cancels out the sensational scramble.

    Tim, I really hope you address my message here. Since I know you do a ton of research, I’m sure you’re familiar with the articles written while Fields was at Ohio state asking why he was taking so many unnecessary sacks with such elite offensive talent. We all know now the reason is because he is not good at going through his progressions, and when the first read was covered he was lost. You made this into a positive video, but even your negatives were pointing out the same. You were giving him credit for making nice 15-20 yard runs when you admitted he should’ve let the ball rip for bigger opportunities as his first read. So my question is, if he has minimally improved in going through his progressions, and still makes the same mistakes three years in, and knowing these deficiencies aren’t fixed by adding talent. You already missed on CJ Stroud, you have two quarterbacks coming out whether you would like them or not have higher grades than Stroud, how can you in good faith say you would take Justin Fields going forward when you know what it takes to win as a pocket passer, and how minimally he has improved in that regard? I don’t understand your logic at all

    The Bears historic draught of quality QB play likely will lead them to trading Fields and selecting the highest rated QB on their board. They have not competed for the division with Justin Fields in the three seasons he's been there (He's won a total of 9 football games over three seasons with two games remaining this year). They have weapons with Herbert, DJ Moore, Kmet. DJ Moore and Kmet are top-10 at their position when with a pocket passing QB.
    The opportunity to re-position their team in this upcoming draft, that is already super solid on defense, is too much to pass up. Fields is very talented and I don't root against him, but the truth is they haven't remotely competed in their division since he's been there and it doesn't matter if he has 3x Jerry Rice's in their prime out there with him if Justin doesn't want to sit in the pocket or at least buy time like Lamar, Pat, Jalen do for their receivers to get open. A ton of Bears fans have his back, but it would almost be irresponsible to not draft the top QB coming out this year imo. The Bears are loaded with draft picks.
    The draft capital they have with or without Fields being traded is a massive haul that they can use to recruit any coach to sign with them if they want to move on from Eberflus. I initially thought earlier this year that they should move on from their HC, but he has their defense playing great and he's adjusted their scheme to match Fields' skill set this year. I'd trade Fields and let Eberflus pick the guy he wants out of the draft.

    Fields is clearly not a franchise quarterback. He may develop into a middle-of-the-road league-average quarterback, but he will never be an elite franchise quarterback for a Super Bowl contender. The vast majority of elite franchise quarterbacks show signs that they are capable of being an elite quarterback within the first year of being drafted. Fields has never been consistent enough to show he is capable of being an elite NFL quarterback. In Patrick Mahomes's first full year of starting, the Chiefs were 12-4 and Mahomes led them to the AFC championship game and has won two Super Bowls since. In Joe Burrow's first full year of starting, he led the Bengals to the Super Bowl and the next season to the AFC Championship game. In Jalen Hurts' second full year of starting, the Eagles were 14-1 in games he started, and he led them to the Super Bowl. In 2001, Tom Brady took over for an injured Drew Bledsoe and led them to an 11-3 record the rest of the way, the Patriots won the Super Bowl, and the Patriots were set at quarterback for 18 years! Fields is not even close to playing at the same level as any of those quarterbacks at the same time in their career.

This team will never have the depth that teams like the ravens or the browns if they keep restarting a position that is working.

      9-27 with Fields as a starter is not working. He has 4 wins this season and 3 of them are against horrible teams defensively.

      And all the lovers love him not for his play, but because he is "their guy". Please list the things you love about him besides, upside or athleticism, which have done virtually nothing for him. I'll wait....

      @@jimmymacnutrition6628 I don’t need to list how he has improved if you are watching him play without bias. I actually think he is exciting to watch along with Lamar. He needs to work on somethings but literally so will any QB they draft. Fact is the number one athlete in the draft is MJH not Caleb who by the way doesn’t want to be here.

      @@Loski-g3c I figured you couldn't list anything because he has been mediocre. QBR rating went from 56 last year to 43 this year. Passer success percentage of 38 is the same. 4th quarter passer ratings all down. Running way down. So he has gone backwards from last year. When you say watching with bias I assume you mean racial bias. I go by how QBs play and would take Love,Dak, Mahomes over Fields in a heartbeat.

    Bears still need an OL, I would still get MHJ if he is entering the draft, if not trade back get Alt for the LT and another Offense weapon like a true #1 WR or Bowers. The biggest must is getting rid of the coaching staff and getting someone like Harbaugh. the team is built around Harbaugh strength... In the Second or Third try to get one of those 3 tech DT out of the 6... one will prob be there. The Bears needs are LT, LG, C, WR1, DT(3tech), FS. Jenkins needs to be the RG so he can team up with Wright and they can run to the weakside.

    It’s a tough decision. I think it depends on what you can get for the pick, if it’s #1. I haven’t seen these college QB’s since I only watch the NFL. From what I hear, Williams hasnt had that great of a year and Maye hasn’t blown the doors off either. If you can trade down and get Marvin, I’d do it. If not, I’d draft a QB. Fields can be elite if he would just throw the ball a tad earlier sometimes. I think you can win with him and I’d love to see a coordinator make an offense that completely suits him.

      It’s easy. Wtf is foelds going to do with Harrison and moore? He can’t even complete a slant pass.
      Williams is amazing. Won heisman as a true sophomore, he didn’t have a bad year his team just sucks besides him.
      College football is way tougher now compared to 3 years ago cause of all the transfer Covid super seniors. Dudes are playing until 25 now

    He’s a bust. This was the no excuses year and there are still excuses. He can’t read a defense or anticipate throws. All these Bears spent 3 years convincing themselves he was the savior and refuse to stomach the thought that he just sucks. It’s amazing that a franchise that complains about always having mediocre QB play wants to continue on with a mediocre QB. Hilarious.
